Yeah, normal lah...many of them want to earn more from you so they will add all those extra things which you don't need, hoping you will fall prey to impulse buys...take your time to find one you are comfortable with and don't be afraid to say 'no' to stuff you don't need. Initially, my ID also gave me suggestions on various things that will 'beautify' the house more but at the end of the day she understood my needs better after communicating with one another for some time. If you are on a budget and prefer practicality over aesthetics, then just stick to your guns.

What do you mean by 'complete'? As in the deal? I understand your excitment... I also had my 'kan cheong' moment during my reno proces but I have since learnt to take it easy... if not really in a big hurry then don't rush too much lor... otherwise create undue stress.

Dear all, Can you help provide some advice or tips on things to look out for before the handover and final payment to ID? Thanks!

Hi bswpy, Can let me know about the product after you have checked out Howards Storage? I'm also interested in an ironing board that isn't so space-consuming. Thanks.

Hi, Perhaps you can call up your hob and hood supplier to check if he gave you the one meant for cylinder gas or piped gas. Can I ask where you got the cabinet stopper from and how much? Thanks

Congrats on getting your new place! What's your reno theme like?

Welcome and congrats! It will be an exciting journey, don't stress over it too much, must enjoy the process ok? All the best for your reno!

Hi Rdnest, the butterfly bin cost me $188... i know...surely kena scolded for the splurge I went up to my place this evening to check on the remaining works... getting closer to completion liao Here's the full black glass backing for my kitchen...amazing that they could actually cut the glass to fit it in! No jagged edges or anything and the small gaps were filled in with black silicon. My cooker hob has also been put in place but both hob and hood not fully installed yet. Notice also the small rectangular patch of light grey on the left...that's my kitchen tile... seems like one part there exposed...not nice so my ID said she will cover it with the same grey laminate used for the cabinets. Frosted glass door installed for my WIW which is inside my MBR, need the door to prevent my dog from creating any 'trouble' in there. My MBR at night with the lights fully fixed. White solid surface for the MBR toilet installed. Now waiting for the sink, tap and accompanying top cabinets. Decided to paint the door frames black to match the laminate door and the other parts of the decor. It was previously white which I thought looked kindda out of place. -
I like your dining table, it sure looks very cosy. Why didn't I think of something smaller back then...sighz... haha
-
Haha...my dog will start barking at lightning and thunder...he can't stand then... he siao one lah! Brown can be uite a nice colour when mixed and matched properly... can give a resort-like feel. Hehe Oh yeah, may I ask where you bought your curtains from and how much for the stuff you're getting?

Today I met up with my ID at my new place. Good news...she said it is possible to cut the black glass to fill up the wall backing my kitchen cabinet. Hooray!! As for the shower screen, it is of standard height and if I want a taller one, it would have to be customised which is a lot more costly. Technically, water should not splash out as the water output for rainshower comes down vertically and not laterally. Anyway, we will just go with the current one and see how. She said if really cannot then we'll make changes later. Sounds good to me for now... Other than these 2 things, we also went through a list of things which needed further working on such as: 1. Touch up for paint work 2. Replacement of trunking in kitchen (was broken due to plumbing works) 3. Installation of MBR toilet carpentry and toilet fittings for all toilets 4. Adjust ceiling fan fixture, currently a bit shaky 5. Installation of glass for the study table top, I don't want to scratch the laminates 6. Chemical cleaning + general cleaning Workers were also there to finish up the installation of my solid surfaces in the kitchen and the toilet. I will be able to show you guys more pics next week. Hb and I also went to Home-Fix DIY at Harbourfront today and bought the following things...first time in my life I bought such expensive rubbish bins! ..... Hopefully they are really as good as the recommendations given by people. Simple Human Trash Bins Koncept LED Study Lamp (in white colour) -

Wow...a very interesting funnel-shaped layout. In terms of fengshui, I heard that as long as the windows face the wider opening of the funnel it's ok as the 'qi' is not trapped or something like that. I don't know if you should place the display cabinet there to 'block' the line from your door to the window tho... If you are really into such things, better to consult a fengshui master cos they also need to check it against your 生辰八字. -
End of year is peak season for renovation so inevitably will be a bit slower. This was what my ID told me. Nevermind lah, a bit delayed is normal, as long as your ID is more or less on track ok liao. Better that they do a good job than to rush them and they do a lousy one. Good luck for your wedding!

Alright lah...considering that you started slightly after I did and that your house is so much bigger, the progress made is good. I was told that we should work with at least a 2week buffer when it comes to reno. As long as the completion doesn't interfere too much with the planned year-end housewarming! Hee By the way, are you planning on having any move-in ceremony?
-
Alamak...you all very cute lah...up here up there! So how's progress? Any updates to share?
-
Your second design is so much better than the first. Well done man! Looking forward to see the transformation!

Hmm..not a bad idea. Will be meeting ID tmr so I'll check with her. Thanks. No, the contract didn't state. I guess I'm not very thorough with my quote as compared to a lot of other forumers here. A lot of things I didn't tie down with ID at the start, especially the kind of materials, brand of tiles, laminates, paints etc... but so far everything turned out ok and she mostly gave me what I want. I guess I'm lucky cos there's a good degree of trust and I find her very professional so I allowed her quite a lot of freedom to design my place... However, I don't think I will ask you to do the same in your ID/contractor hunting... risky... -
The irobot is definitely a good investment... without it helping me, I'll prob be bent back over with the vac now and not sitting in front of my com checking this website liao...haha

Hi, I believe a wedding MTV is a single, continuous footage of whoever are the characters in the music video, prob involve acting ... A montage is simply a slideshow of many different photos plus background music.

Good progress!

The partition at the study romm cost me $550 if I remembered correctly. I got the sink from Bellari, comes with a small built-in bucket for waste. Cost me around $300. It's definitetely not 7ft cos I remember measuring the height from floor to the ugly overhead pipe. It was 2m tall and 7ft = 2.13m....so the shower screen is at most 1.85m tall only... around 6ft. May have to really get my ID to change the shower screen... I also say... my 3D drawings showed it completely covered which is much nicer. However, I'm not sure that they can cut the glass to fit in the curved shape of my hood...Anyway, I'll leave it to the experts to solve this problem...haha -
Your kitty and doggy are so cute!!! The 3D drawings for your living and study are stunning! I was never a big fan of brown but I like the way your colour combi works for you.

Hi all, after a bit of prodding...my ID set her helpers to work... a bit more done compared to last week's dismal situation. Haha Here's my kitchen sink installed (tap still awaiting overseas delivery) Black glass backing for kitchen...I wanted the whole backing near the hood to be covered tho...told my ID and she will be checking on that. At least a bit more done for the carpentry for the MBR toilet vanity top MBR toilet shower screen....i wonder if it's too short cos we will be installing a rainshower system...hmm??? Black glass backing **** rm feature wall (left with wallpaper to be installed) Another one of my favourite parts! The glass partition at the study room.
