I thought when you rent your common room, u should have came up with a set of house rule for her to follow. plus u should still holding up her 1 month rental deposit. Before she moved out, both of u need to do a inspection of the room. Next time draft a list of the item in the room and charge her accordingly. If very dirty in the room wall, u could deduct from the deposit. Then the utility bill also deduct from the deposit. Sometimes deposit won't be enough also. Deposit don't return her so fast. If she make up excuses saying she would be leaving to malaysia or china (blah blah) and ask for her deposit. Took out the last 3 month PUB bill and count the average usage. From there calculate out the amt she should be paying. Things like wall and furniture dirty and dusty. You could deduct from deposit saying you need find ppl to clean the mess up or even buy paint to repaint the room coz the condition too jialat. In the end she might only take back $50 - $100 from the deposit depend on how kind are u going to treat her.

I went to Meng Design for quotation during Q4 of 2008. When my wife and i step into their shop at AMK Blk 232. I'm surprised that no one entertain us at all. Total 3 uncle there, 1 uncle looking at newspaper, another talking on phone, one more hiding behind the cubicle dunno doing what. After standing there for 3-5 min then the uncle hiding behind the cubicle came out and ask us what we want. After spending time telling him what we want to do in our reno. After telling him our budget , without even drafting a quotation. He declare loudly "At least $40K then enough, anything less than that we can't help u". My wife and i are shocked and pissed off. As we went to 5 contractor and 3 IDs firm, non of them quote me more than $30K. The highest quote i got was $27K. The lowest quote was abt $24K. Who are Meng Design to quote me minimum of $40K... without a second thought i step out of their shop. They wanna catch big fish and trying to chase away all the small fry. So let them be...

Looking for expert to do the job is good also. At least you won't get your hand dirty. But sometimes quite costly. From what i know, this kind of peeling your could call up HDB ppl to see whether they could help you solve. I remember my MIL call up HDB regarding the flaky and peeling paint on the kitchen ceiling. They came down and have a look before they took up the job. As it was also part of the HDB responsibility due to the waterproofing layer wear and tear. They scrap away the old paint. Repaint sealant then apply new coat of paint for the whole kitchen ceiling at a cost of $80. Maybe u could check with HDB 1st. I think they have a list of minor repair contractor. The standard height for HDB house is 2.4 metre unless u got a L-Box. You better take a measuring tape to measure the height from floor to ceiling 1st before buying a wardrobe.

Thats depend on the whether does the size able to fit in. If able to fit in then able to reuse, as simple as that. (only if the door won't spolit after dismantle)

wtc, depend on the size of your toilet and what type of reno u do. Like got hacking of wall tiles and floor tiles anot, got vanity top anot. Different brand/size of sink and towl bowl having different price. The cheapest i saw b4 is $60 for a sink, $180 for toilet bowl. But it may not be to your liking. It's never too early to get a quotation. But 1st u must be clear what u want to do in your reno. If u don't even have a clue what to do. Let the ID and contractor give u an idea or see other ppl t-blog for an idea. cheers

For the painting part, i think u can handle it yourself. But for the peeling ceiling it is best to scrape it off then repaint so that the paint is more lasting. (won't peel off so fast) For your wardrobe, why not go to the hdb type furniture shop. I bought my wardrobe there so far so good and the boss quite friendly mah. Yesterday i saw the U-Mag section on fengshui. They interview the Huijie FSM weekly. This week he talk about Pets at home does affect the house fengshui. It says that if your pets is always trap in it's small cage and no much room for movement. The house luck would not be so smooth liao. He says by letting your pets have more area of movement (freedom of movement) House fengshui would be better. By doing more good deed also would let a person luck improve.

Babyangel11, For me, No much major improvement lar. Wealth luck wise don't have much improvement. But my wife have better 4D luck than me.(Does that counts?) You can get a stainless steel door handle from your neighbourhood DIY shop or Self-fix / Homefix. They do sell the handle only except that they are made of metal. Should be less than $20 per handle. But you need a allen key to tighten the handle.

Is this way the easiest way to mop your house. Quite Light lar.

Last Month i felt that my gum pocket is loosening. Then on one afternoon i went to a dentist@AMK central somewhere opp the Singapore post. Just wanna check the price to recover my gum problem. I'm surprised when i spoke to the dentist over the counter. Below is the dialogue: Dentist: May I have you Sir? Me: Ya, I have this gum problem, seems like my gum is loosening and not leaning to my tooth. Dentist: That's Gum pocket loosening. Me: Oh i see, that gum pocket loosening. From a recommendation of my colleague i went to the NTUC dental. When for a consultation there, so i spoke to the dentist there 1st. He said he needs to see the condition of my gums. So as to give a more accurate evaluation of my condition. After the examine he told me that i needs to come for a few times of cleaning to solve this problem. So i hesitated and needs some times to think. It's not cheap. Total would cost $200+ for he treatment. Left the clinic eventually. From my understanding, 1. Plasma tv consume 20% more energy than LCD TV. 2. Plasma producing more heat compare to LCD TV. 3. As the plasma tv is use for a period of time when the xenon and neon gas depleted , the user might have to get it refill. Not cheap i think.

Seems to me that u won't be doing hacking of tiles etc and you got no existing kitchen cabinet to demolish. But Don't they need to redo the power point and pipings. Inlet and outlet.
