  1. I don't think it will look too stark as the whole passage way is painted brown with the black doors. so there are only 2 colours. The black will go well with the black doors.
  2. Thanks. We wanted to do Chengnai wood to cover up that area. But our ID recommended pebbles. It turned out quite nice actually. The individual pebbles are all coated with varnish.
  3. Been busy this week shopping for stuff and burning a hole in my pocket. Finally went down to the place and took some pictures. final coat of paint is up. The CCTV camera that I've installed in my house. Notice the ugly white squarish base to hold the connectors. because this was not installed on a false ceiling, but instead, it was installed on the concrete ceiling. the rest of the CCTV was ok. Decided to put pebbles in the planter by the toilet instead. Wife thought that the guy would deliver white pebbles but he delivered black ones instead. i thought that the black ones actually look quite classy. Vanity top for the toilet completed with new sink and tap. Installed a new rain shower. $299 only....... MBR mirrors are up. but the headboard is only due next week. cos ID said the place still dusty, don't want to dirty the headboard. Another view with the cove lighting Cove lighting for the MBR wall feature is also up. Made a mistake by buying white lights, already told ID to paint it black. Initially the ceiling was white, changed our mind in the end to paint it brown. So black would go better. Wondering if it will peel after spray painting with the hot halogen bulb heating up the surrounding surface. anyone any experience? Some pictures of the dinning and living area. Oh yes, the wall feature is also up. Black Stucco effect. Balcony with wood. This is one of the feature which i thought was too expensive. really feel the pinch whenever i look at it. don't feel shiok at all.
  4. Choice #4: Raffi wallpaper But it will be in black and grey./size] I prefer the Raffi. The rest very hard to go with alot of furnitures and designs. Too much impact and direct. The Raffi flowery design looks more like a pattern, but if you look closer it actually is a flower. so the attention will not be drawn too much to the wallpaper as the wallpaper is supposed to compliment your furnitures or room as a whole. Just my 5 cents.
  5. Yah, they do. But he gave me some discounts to offset.
  6. Fuse Concept is one of the most reasonable priced ID firms around. We scouted around 8 ID firms before settling on them. Wai yeen is very patient and always gives suggestions and comments on what we wanted. There were times where we were indecisive but he explained everything from all angles to us so as to help us make a better decision. Sometimes we have funny suggestions and he is quick and honest enough to tell us that the suggestions is not ideal to the overall design, which kind of prevented us from deteriorating into a bad design. His design work is also one of the best we've seen around. So far the workmanship is quite good. Wai yeen is down at my place monitoring the progress everyday. Any errors gets rectified straight away. He also helped us save quite a bit of money. Yesterday when i went down, the wardrobe doors handles were not installed straight and equal length by the contractors and he immediately told them to reinstall and change new doors for me. Definitely recommended.
  7. Actually, the respraying of the doors are quite expensive to my opinion. cost me about $300 per door. I saw them doing it, quite a lot of work. have to dismantle everything and tape up all the edges. then spray, sand it down, spray again. The taping up already took them the whole morning. No choice, we didn't like the existing colours of the door. too O-biang. Plus we wented to look different. But after looking at the results, it was really money well spent. the workmanship was very good.
  8. drawers are bolted with screws on the wall but i also think they put some form of glue at the back. so the legs are there to hold it in place until the glue or whatever that stuff is, dries.
  9. The full length mirrors are up!!! The poor workers have to carry them up as the lift was too small to fit them. The mirrors really make the place look more spacious!!!! really like them. My son's room false ceiling The wall feature for the main living room is up but not finished yet.
  10. No choice, have to cover up. me don't like people to see me doing my business and showering. Told the curtain lady to do some roller blinds and paste some frosted glass effects stickers. Went down this afternoon to spot check as my ID told me everything was ahead of schedule and the carpentry is already up!!! So here goes the photos..... My wife's shoe cabinet and painted black doors. The vanity top and sink in the bathrooms The feature wall in our MBR with the drawers to store our CCD system. (haha to monitor our maid) Chengnai wood decking on our MBR balcony. **** expensive....... Main living room balcony Chengnai wood. Passage way painted. My son's green room (fengshui)
  11. So far we've bought quite a lot of stuff. Bought all the lights (which costs a bomb!) Bought a Samsung 46" 5 Series for the living room. (free gift of Upscale DVD player and 21" LCD TV for my son's room) Bought a Samsung 40" 5 Series for my Master bedroom (free gift of Blu-ray DVD Player) Wanted to buy a PS3 and use it as a blu ray player instead but decided against it as no time to play and i don't want my son to be hook on it. Bought a LG Washer Bought a LG Fridge All from Audiohouse. They offer the cheapest price in town. Can bargain somemore. I went around to get different prices from all the electronic stores and went down to audio house and they counter offer with even lower price. Bought this coffee table too.
  12. We wanted a earth tone home that looks cozy. No retro and funky design. Some of the 3D drawings my ID came up with. we took a total of 3 months to finalise.
  13. It's actually a Condo. Called Starville. We bought the place a long time ago and was rented ever since. just finish the tenure and finally got our keys back!!! The toilet is a major problem. nice view outside also means nice view of yourself. the pic there is the common bathroom, the Master Bedroom toilet is worse, facing my neighbour. Chit chat with them while showering. The pics here are taken before i rented out the place.
  14. Some initial photos to share. We went to numerous IDs. finally narrowed down to Fuse Concept as we felt very comfortable with the Interior Designer. Some were too inexperienced. Some did not give suggestions at all and made us feel more like the IDs ourselves. Some were too ah bengs to be IDs. Some were too bo chap. Some were too expensive. Some think that their design is the best even though it is totally not what we want. Our ID Wai yeen from Fuse concept listens to our comments and he also gives his suggestions. At the end of the day, we built the design together after numerous meetings. He was very patient and always thinking of ways to beautify the place and to help us cut costs. Reno budget was 20-30k (excluding furniture and electrical) A lot of fengshui considerations by a fengshui master. The reno is already underway, so stay tune for more pics. Bought this sofa from OM. Service was very good. After my wife pestered me for a long time, finally succumb and bought this bloody expensive, over budget dining light........*sigh*
  15. Been reading this forum for 1 yrs. Finally got my own apartment. Time for me to share my renovation after stealing so many good ideas and recommendations here.
