No la, actually false ceiling stops ard the bar top table, it wasn't shown in the drawing. Hee. Thanks! That's what we felt too.. Informed Alex already, must also see if budget can fit in the storage cabinet etc.

3D drawings finally in. Just to share with all. We are still making some admendments. Thanks for viewing. Living Room with platform. Thinking of adding a small feature, maybe those wood stripes, near the entrance instead of the string curtain, must see budget how. What do you think? Kitchen with bar top table. (Cabinet above fridge should be in line with rest of cabinet)

My wedding's end Nov. Now in the final stages of preparation. There's really an avalanche of things to do when the reno comes hand in hand! Lucky we chose the ID route, Alex helping us quite a bit on the coordination. Exciting but at the same time headache ah...

Thanks! Yup, it's a low lying floor. Not much of a choice for us then as it's one of the few units available from HDB.

wow, nice place. Looking forward to more of your reno pix.

Thanks, will check it out. Oh ya, saw in your signature that you've got very good prices for your Sony TV and aircon system. Can share on how you got them or good places for such electronics? Or maybe can PM me? Many thanks!

Thanks! Din know that HN stuff are competitive. Found Mega store prices to be at least 10% cheaper and can still bargain sometimes. But must pay extra 2% for credit card and 5% for instalment plan. Will look out for their anni sale if can make it b4 my wedding, hopefully. The URL was helpful, really loads of info there on furniture shops.

Think the clearing of debris and haulage (combined) is on the high side, hacking part too. Perhaps can check out the rest of the forum here and do a comparison. You may also want to save cost on the kitchen cabinet as it is abt 32ft (yours I think is 100/ft). Maybe cut it to about 20ft if you dont need so much of storage space? Can save quite a bit then, free up more space too. You'll also save on the surface top.

Thanks! Btw, any advice on where to get electronics and bathroom stuff? Any idea if Indulge is good in their pricing? I'm looking at Mega shop at Katong to buy electronics but will also be checking out for any good deals on beds etc.

Thanks to all for your comments, really overwhelmed by them. Yup, house was really back to basic when we got it from HDB (it's a repurchased unit btw). Gotta spend really quite a bit cos everything is really in it's 'original glory', as aptly commented by typhoonz. Haha.

Thanks! Hee, actually got my house many moons ago (about May). Had taken our time to search for an ID we're comfortable in before finally confirming on Alex sometime early last week. Yup, Alex's pretty fast, hacking started once permit was approved. We are also hoping for works to complete by end Oct, before our wedding day in Nov. Haven't bought any furnishing, prob getting wc/basins etc from Indulge (balestier) and still shopping around for electrical stuff and furniture. Feel free to drop in any comments.

From what I understand previously, they were contractors years ago (ID informed me but I can't remember exactly how many years ago), where they were named Summit Contractors or something like that. Then, there were some changes to the structure and they are now also involved in the interior design, hence Summit Design. Seem just like a normal ID firm to me after having been to a few IDs, with a proper showroom and office. Thanks, me waiting for the final 3D design from ID as wanted some changes to the choice of tiles we made. Will post it once it's ready. It's a simple layout but one thing about old houses is the ceiling is very low...

Think if the ID is honest, doesn't really matter what budget you mention la. I've mentioned 25k budget to the IDs I've been to and they end up all quoting above 30+k like yours too. Maybe you can find the ID you're most comfortable with and negotiate on the pricing and specs to see how you can fit into the budget? That's what I did. Electrical wiring best to find someone else to do instead of ID as they will mark up due to middle man fees.

Here's the floor plan. Forgive us for the messy outlook as we took some measurements and there are writings all over it.

Finally found time to document some of the progress for our house reno. Hope other home owners can find the tips here useful, just like how we got help from others here. Our house is a 20+ years unit and a major overhaul was required (whole unit rewiring, hacking etc), as the previous owner did almost nothing for her unit. You'll see what I mean in the coming pix. Finally confirmed with Alex on the reno, after much deliberating through 4 IDs. Was a very tiring process, all the talk and discussions after a hard day's work and having to squeeze time to view tiles, accessories. In the days to come, will also be listing things we've purchased and any good buys we've found so, stay tuned!
