Wow, you have an interesting theme and layout ... the portfolio of your ID looks good! Will your ID help to co-ordinate with the contractors as well? Look forward to see the 3D conceptual drawings for your house too

Have not been updating this blog for a while... That's becos there isn't much progress on the renovation But at least we went shopping last weekend .. Bought most of our lights at Palace except for a few lights which is purchased from IKEA.. was generally happy with the purchase from Palace and the service of the sales staff who served us. However, faced some glitch regarding the delivery and installation today. So need to rant & let off some steam here .. Haa Original delivery date was set on Tues during purchase. After some thinking, I called them on Mon to asked for installation of lights as well...was told that the earliest date available for the electricians is Thurs and they will call me/hubby on Wed to confirm timing, but shld be in the afternoon. Did not receive any call from them on Wed .. and when we remembered that they are supposed to call yesterday to confirm timing, it was late at night so I intend to call them today morning ... The lights guy called me today at around 11am to say that the timing for the lights is at 1pm ... so I waited for them.. but they failed to turn up. So at around 2pm, I called back to Palace and was told that the delivery is set tomorrow at 1pm ... I asked them whether they can arrange for delivery today else I have to go down to my new place the next day and wait again. But they told me unable to arrange, the delivery is for tomorrow and that nobody tell me that the delivery is for today... Angry! It is true that it is not constructive to pinpoint who is at fault (from their point of view, it must be that I heard wrongly & from my point of view, it must be that their staff got the dates wrong .. told me its on Thurs, when in actual fact he put the date as Fri's date). However, what they can do to appease an angry customer is to apologise for the communication error and ask if I want to change it to another date if I am not available tomorrow. It just add oil to fire by telling me that nobody tell me that the delivery is for today....Although in the end, they did offered to deliver on other dates to my convenience...my good impression for them is spoilt. Lesson learnt .. always call a day in advance to confirm delivery time and dates/day to prevent this kind of communication errors .... shall do that for the rest of my deliveries ....

Haiz .. that's not all .. but was assured that the mistakes will be rectified ... so see how it goes bah ... We are charged $90... the solid top is L-shaped abt 6 feet. Works out to be about $15 per feet extra ... ID gave some slight discount .. was informed that normally customisation is about 20%-30% extra

They did the shoe cabinet already, but took it back to the factory to do some amendments .. not very sure of the details .. The solidtop not done yet .. And they did the wrong laminate for my kitchen cabinets which we highlighted today...

Master Bedroom Wardrobe Master Bedroom Internal Configuration. Upper compartment for hanging shirts and blouses. Lower compartment for hanging trousers and skirts.... Master Bedroom Internal Configuration. Compartment for longer dresses. Bought a basket from IKEA and requested to fit into the cupboard.. Bought two more accessories from IKEA to be fitted in.. one is a retractable hanger for hanging belts & ties ... the other one is a retractable mirror .. haa.. Will update again when they are done. This is the backing of the wardrobe in the adjacent room as we hacked off a wall to accomodate the wardrobe. There are some storage space at the top... a good suggestion from my father-in-law .. This is the study room .. the tempered glass is now very dirty .. gg to have a lot of cleaning to do ... Thinking of DIY paint a striped wall (2 alternating colors)... ID painted the light green base color so we have a do the rest .. He warned us that it is gg to be a tough job .. have to do masking etc .... Haa ... If anyone have some tips, or points to note on how to do the painting, kindly advise ..

Finally back from my 2 weeks pre-wedding shoot cum holiday break in Lijiang, China ... but yesterday went to see my hse .. the carpentary onli about 70% done bah ... the only one completed is the master bedroom wardrobe. Initially thought can do my final inspection liao after the trip ... Will take some pics tmr morning and upload Hmmm... the renderings are posted on page one ... or mabbe when you load the page, flickr is temporarily down??? the links to the pics are from flickr .. anyway, is okie .. I will upload some actual pics real soon... keep a lookout Thanks Thanks ... will upload soon ..

Hi, Like the MBR and common bathroom design .... The mosaics walls are nice The yellow combi is special.. Dun mind can share how much does your bathroom reno cost?
-
Thanks The carpentry should be starting next week .. Will have the actual pix soon .. Ya lor ... was unhappy over the renderings then ....but think it is faster to ask my hubby to edit rather than spend time arguing ... If you are thinking of getting ID .. guess have to approach those who are really designers themselves to avoid the kind of mis-communication which I faced ...

Mandy & Lincoln - Renovating Our First Home
klipp-klapp replied to mmycheng's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
Hihi, For my case, we left the installation of the gas pipes to the ID to coordinate.. Initially, I thought is pay the ID for the installation , only realised that it is paid to citygas when I received the SP bills for the installation this month ...Haa blur... but i got shock at first glance .. thot the renovation guys must be playing with water to have my bill hit over $120 ... -
Yepz I think is worth it, so agreed readily to the additional cost.. keke... and was smiling all the way after I was shown the sample .... Phew ... Hopefully all will be smooth sailing from now ...
-
Yeah Yesterday, ID finally showed me the customized solidtop that matches the laminate we chose ... The green house is saved hahaha I would say 95% match .. but have to pay extra for customisation though .....
-
Hi mwerkz & applefreak, Thanks for the advice. Will discuss with husband on these backup plans. Applefreak, If using postform, will there be a seamline at L joint, since my bartop surface is a L-shape? How much does postform usually cost per feet? Good to have a rough idea, so that can gauge how much the ID should rebate if I opt for this option. Thanks

Haiz .. heard from ID that the lime green solid top we wanted cannot be achieved ... At first, he told us can try to customize the color, so we chose a lime green laminate and told him to follow that color. But later was informed that there is some pigments issues. Acelite has a green solid top in their existing range .. but the green is sort of light green .. not the brighter shade which we will like to have. Does anyone know of any other solid top brand that have green in their range? Or if there are any suppliers that are able to do color customisation? Will be very grateful .. Thanks

Hacking Wall
klipp-klapp replied to X.H.LI's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
Hi X.H.LI, Unable to visualize which wall you are intending to hack.... keke .... anyway for your reference,I hacked a 8ft (width) full height wall for abt $220 + $150 for touch up. Not sure if PE endorsement is applicable in your case ... paid $500 for it. And if rewiring of power point is required then have to pay for that as well...Hacking is relatively fast. I hacked 3 walls ... completed within a week. -
Hi mmycheng, Thanks Yah, bright colours will help to brighten the day... As for the MBR, we are thinking to have a "warmer" feel bedroom bah ... Yepz, went your blog, it is indeed very nice and have more cabinet space. Just wondering, how come your contractor hack off the whole wall and rebuild a low wall for the glass panel, cannot just hack a portion of it?

Final kitchen rendering provided by ID. Notice how come solid top not in the colour we requested. Hubby edited accordingly - that's more like it .. else no more green house liaoz... First MBR rendering provided by ID. Actually, we requested to have some red elements for MBR initially.. but rendering provided is in black and white . Is nice but not what we have in mind. After some discussion,we asked ID change the wardrobe to white with a strip of orange and to suggest the color combi for the low cabinet. We felt orange will match the green theme in the kitchen cum living room more than red. Final MBR rendering provided by ID. Notice how come the wardrobe is orange and black .... And we did not like the color combination for the low cabinet. Hubby helped to edit the colors ... think it is nicer now

Hi pinkpetter, Yepz the drawing is provided by the ID. But it is not done by the ID consultant whom we deal with. It is done by the designer of the firm bah so there are some communication errors .... which explains why a number of things are not done to our request .. so in the end my husband edited the kitchen and master bedroom rendering himself to save time since going to and fro takes very long ... and can feel the ID also not too willing ... In the renovation quote , these rendering services are quoted FOC ... so I guess also not too good to request too many changes and we did not pursue further. Felt that as long as the end-product is good, the conceptual drawings not that impt.

Hi mmycheng, Thanks in advance for sharing Okay time to upload some real pics haa .... The future study room..... but the tempered glass panel will not be so nice .. the long side will consists of 3 panels. And also our actual study room floor provided by HDB is parquet .. so I guess will not have such a airy, open feel as compared to the one shown in the rendering.

Not too sure abt the 2nd march-in additional cost.. As I dun intend to do that , I did not make comparisons. But think shld reasonable since they are gg to do another hairstyle and makeup + they also need to stay and wait until the 2nd march-in ... is quite a long wait .. Mabbe your wtb can consider asking the MUA to do a makeup that is generally suitable for both the evening gown and wedding gown.. As for the hairstyle, perhaps can go for something that is bun up for the 1st march-in and for the 2nd march-in, remove a few pins to let down the hair for a 2nd look... The MUA will be able to advise, think I am gg to do that to save cost.

I have two contact numbers of recommended MUA whom some of my other friends used for their wedding. Irene - 9066 8963 Amy - 90296871 I have previously considered Angel Chua for my ROM. She is a deaf mute makeup artist and is quite highly recommended by brides on sgbrides forum. Her portfolio can be viewed at www.angelchua.multiply.com/. Her email: angelmua06@hotmail.com And who did I use for my ROM? haaa since I am not using her service for actual day and switched to Dana, think no point I intro to you ...

What is the norm for the placement of drainage cover at the kitchen cabinet base? My kitchen cabinet base was done according to option 1... but my MIL advised us that option 2 is better ... because things will not be accidentally washed down the drainage pipes and things that are washed down might choke the pipes.... Small detail but makes sense .. So for those who have not done theirs , can look into such details bah before it is too late...
-
Certainly hopes so .. Hmmm it looks dated but dun think can consider antique yet bah ... cos still a lot of people selling on ebay haa Guess just have to wait longer for it to become antique
-
Hi SmartFool, I booked my wedding dinner make-up with Dana for next year. She was recommended by a friend who used her services for her ROM and is happy with it. My fren also gg to continue with Dana for her actual day makeup. I haven go for my trial make-up yet so no personal experience to share .... keke Market price should be ard 500 - 600 bah for one actual day and one night makeup (based on what I gather from a few quotes) ... but most impt is that both u and your wife like the style of the mua. Think most of the MUA will allow you to take their trial makeup first before deciding whether to book their packages. In the event, you did not engage them, then only need to pay for the trial. Do check with them.

Oic ... Neighbouring block only Come to think of it... yar lor ... my current place is also using turbo ... although is those standalone kind... Okie .. most prob gg to get the turbo hood and hob. Thanks. Actually, nowadays people contact mostly via handphone ... think house phone becoming more of a home decoration liaoz haa.. Yepz .. have been diligently reading from forummers' experience and recommendation on the electricals and funiture... but funiture shopping have been quite tedious for us as we dun have car .. very lazy to go to hard to reach areas like sungei kadut...

Nice drawings ... the windows shown in your living room drawing matches the one shown in the photos taken .. realistic ... When I was shown the rendering which ID did for my study room, my first impression is ...wah nice but how come the flooring in rendering is different from the actual flooring that HDB had provided .... small detail but then that's the difference between the good and the great .. haa How come your kitchen has 2 doors?? .. one for the entrance to the kitchen and the other to hide the bomb shelter door? Are you using tempered glass with aluminum frame for your master bedroom cabinet?
