The 3D drawings look good! The display cabinet is tucked in the corner beside the bomb shelter?

Update: Our first purchase made at IFC~ Shortlisted sofa and bedframe there too~ Verdict: It's quite a good place for furnitures~

Yeah, Fengshui can be a tricky business. In the start, my wtb and me did not believe in FS, but as our parents want the flat to be looked at, we had no choice but to go along with it. The Mr Fengshui came, looked and made some comments about what's the effect if we do this, and if we don't do that. After hearing those, we were kinda worried that it might be true, so we decided to follow his instructions and conveyed the requirements to my ID, even when we are not really believers. Luckily, Mr Fengshui was not the "ching chiong" kind, that requires many idols and crystals to be placed around the house, and our ID is very receptive and understanding to the requirements. Anyway, I feel that what's the most impt thing is the peace of mind bah. If you feel at ease, everything should go fine~

Wah, sounds like a stressful period for you huh? Well, although finding someone whom you are comfortable with is not the most important thing to look out for (most important should be reputation and good feedback from their clients bah), I think it's a good to have if you can effectively communicate with ur contractor bah. At least, it should save u alot of blood vomiting when you wana convey a certain idea to the contractor about what you want. All the best to your final selection!

No lah, din really get things done.. just went around and see lots of stuff nia..

The green and white color combi looks really good. Too bad my theme doesn't really allow the use of daring colors. Anyway, keep the photos coming, ya?

Just an update: Had a design session with my ID yesterday and he had already did a basic layout planning based on the floor plan that I gave him. However, as I had not conveyed the requirements (my home was feng shui-ed already) to him, there was a lot of changes to be made. Initially, we were kinda embarrassed about it as it looked as though we were totally changing the layout that he had in mind, and I was worried that he might take offense at it. Surprisingly, he was very receptive and understanding of the changes we had in mind, and had some very interesting ideas based on the requirements that we have~ We had also passed him the book on country theme that we bought and went through. The book had loads of post-its inside on what we like and don't like. Hope that he can "breathe" the book in and come out with a good design! Anyway, we are very excited about the 2nd draft of the layout planning~ We also went to the Thomson Plaza that forumers had recommended here and found 2 country theme shops. They were good, but we were kinda overwhelmed at the amount of country stuff that they had. We did not get anything this trip, but we were very certain that we will be back! Next stop today will be the IFC, where we spotted a "Country Style Furnishing" in the website listing! And that's all folks~ (cues Warner Bro music)

Hmmm.. I thought that all "premium" flats should come with the same fittings? Maybe my area was previously a non "premium" flat, but due to lack of demand, so HDB converted it to "premium" to attract more interest bah. Yeah, I stuffed the holes with newspaper le.. I dun wan to go to my new place with fear every time..
-
Yeah, I have to say I'm very impressed with his previous works. Am very excited to have him to design our country house too.. hope he can design a gd blend of country cozyness and maintenability..
-
Hey Double J, Huge flat you have there~ Looks like no room for WIW, but I think might be still able to squeeze a pool table in if u hack the study lah~ or you can get those pool table that can convert into dining table?
-
hey pinkpetter, I bet i can hit 5 pages without starting the reno process too, cos my reno is so far away~ Shoe cabinets are very important, especially if you have billions of shoes like my WTB..
-
Hey Vin, everything looks so good here, so how long more before your reno is completed? should be very soon already right?
-
I'm getting an ID to help me plan the design.. Don't have the time, nor the talent to put things together myself.. hahaha.. The actual renovation work will only start after the CNY, so I still have quite some time to liase with my ID. Yep, the shower screen is from HDB as it is a "premium" flat.. The one in the MBR toilet is better as its the glass door kind. The one in the common toilet is only a plastic slider type.
-
Cool, it would be great to get feedback from you. Cos we having this dilemma of whether to airconditioning the living room or not.. cos ID say to effectively cool this layout, probably need a 3 + 2.. which will leave a big hole in my wallet..
-
Hmmm.. sounds good.. so even the dining room will feel cool? And does it take long for the living area to cool down?
-
Haven't move in yet, just will go to empty house from time to time. Will start reno process only after CNY.. Going to start the design discussion proper this coming Thurs~ Actually I duno if its a fruit bat, but its definitely a bat cos I saw it flew ard the house before flying out.. it's creepy to see it spread its wings from the hole in the ceiling..
-
Hi Vin, Just curious, but u getting system 4 for the whole house right? Will the single unit at the living room be able to cool the whole of the living room? I tot the living room is a little big for a single unit?
-
No leh, we dun feel very lucky leh.. Not if we are the ones who will be living there in the future.. hahaha Anyway my parents bought the unit number.. no luck I did see a couple of bats flying ard at night sometimes... so better keep you fingers crossed, especially if you live on low floor..
-
Yeah, it was actually a fruit bat hiding in the hole in the ceiling where they have the light wirings... It was a little creepy to see a bat at our place flying ard..
-
Hi vin13, Congrats for getting ur flat on the 1st try! it took us 5 tries before getting a borderly decent Q number.. hahaha.. Anyway looking forward to seeing more nice pictures of ur new home~

Some more old pictures of the unfurnished flats. Was thinking that might need to spend money to hack the ugly yellow kitchen tiles but ID saw pics and thought that it was rather suitable color for a country theme~ Less expense! wahahaha This is the better looking common bathroom. The MBR bathroom is yellow. Anyway, my wtb and I discovered an unwelcome guest(s) in our house last weekend too. It was quite loh... sigh....
-
Aiyoh, how come white powder coat more expensive than silver? I wanna have white for my windows leh..
-
Oops, sorry for the mistake~ Yep, some DIY definitely makes it feel more like home. Anyway for the shoe rack, maybe you don't need to hack the whole wall? Just the lower portion for the shoe rack and leave the electrical box untouched? Just a suggestion nia~
-
Yep, am quite determined to find a good cuckoo clock for our new place cos I used to have one when i was quite young n was very fascinated by it. Been to the shop at Raffles city, and sad to say the stuff there are too expensive for us.. So probably not getting anything from there. Renovation only starting after CNY cos Mr Fengshui say this year not good for us to start reno. Since parents believe in it, so bo bian loh.. Do more preparatory work before starting loh. Will keep disturbing my ID in the meantime. Hi LGG, Thanks for the suggestion, will go there and check it out. We went to Anchorpoint hoping to find the pushcart with country stuff, but its not there anymore. Anybody where they moved to?
