Hi all, Have been lurking around this forum since 15th July 08. Shall start by posting my floorplan and draft floorplanner for comments. This reno can be considered as an upgrade. This house has been around for 20years already. (The orange line is the original entrance to kitchen, my parents sealed it and change the entrance to the blue line as seen. When ask the reason for doing so, they say the altar must face the window ) Ask you can see, I got a odd shaped living room. My contractor will be constructing L Box all around the living room. Bedroom 3 will be my room after reno, Bedroom 2 used to be my room but due to its odd shape, it shall become another spare room or entertainment room instead.

Single power point - $55 each Double power points - $65 each SCV points - $90 each Change switch/power points box - $20 each Can I request to get outside electrician to liase with my contractor for my house renovation ? I calculated liao, if based on the quotes by my contractor, all in all will be $800+ loh, and this exclude change ALL wirings in the house. only pull and build points only. He is reluctant to take the so call "package" deal, which I say, $500 for whole house electrical works... he wan to count points by points. I wana ask one question too, normally contractor is also get sub electrician to do the job right ? And they earn by taking part of the $ we pay him to pay the electrician right ?

Just curious, do you all get your contractor to install the fan for you or get the specilise technician to install the fan ? And how do they do the process of "Balancing," curious

This has been on my mind too my contractor is charging me alittle ex for electrical too... if he is willing to half it i dont mind, but less likely outside electrician is quite cheap loh... anyone can advise too

go to dealextreme and type clock, alot are projection clock selling in USD price, however consider the SG to USD exchange rate, can buy loh...lol, its real cheap, plus free delivery to your house from HK even ppl in HWZ and Vr Zone forum are doing Mass Order for such clocks... u can check it out

haha i help u edit the quote after u said u got it wrong, shld be $200 rite... hmmm, but $200 is still over my budget for this, I am going to use it as a telephone stand beside the sofa, much like your display. i am thinking of getting those shops that sell plastic acrylic, ask them bend the two side to form legs, Tada, can become same liao....just needa choose transparent, abit of blueish colour acrylic can le...less than $30. lol

How much you get the glass side table ? and where ?

FF505 48” FFM-2000 52” FF606 52” FF101 54” FF404 54” FF9 56” I have shortlisted Fanco Fans to these models. Just wana ask whats the difference between some of the fan of the same size, take example FFM-2000 and FF606, both 52" and both wooden blade. besides the price and designs, whats the difference to look out for ? The area to put ceiling fan is only about 144sq feet. Was thinking to get 54" or 52" fan... is a 52" strong enuff already ?

I will be putting the ceiling fan inbetween surrounding of L Box downlights. will it caus shadows ? Seems like Crestar and Fanco is the most recommended brands of all.

Didnt bought lights for bedrooms ? any pics to share ? btw the last pic you bought for living room cost about $30+ right, i remember seeing it in their website, it states SMALL ceiling light... lol, it is bright enuff ?

Another thing is what is the current trend of the downlights ? if you go around lighting shop u know that, they got those surrounding with glass one. It is said to diffuse the lights out. They say that one is new, or will u all choose the normal one ? like the one shown. For L Box, thinking that it is white in colour already, if get the normal one, its better to get the "steel" ones right ?

Hey same, my living room is odd shape one... like "L" shape lidat, guess in the past its built lidat I am doing L Box in whole living room. Not doing cove lighting as it collect dust and i wonder how many times per year I am going to use those cove lights...lol in the middle can put one ceiling fan I have seen those pure white lightings in ppl's house... hmmm seems too white and boring leh, the only thing about warm white is I scared not bright enuff as I solely depend on the 16-18 downlights nia for living room. shall see how bah...

I measured from ground to ceiling is 102 inch/2.6 Meters /8.5 feet. Anyone have any shops to recommend ? I am deciding to get my lights from Lights Aracde, they have a file filled with many brands of ceiling fans. (have not take a look in details yet though). Got a couple of questions to ask. 1) Buying from lighting shop ok ? or anyone knows a better place to get it. Dont know if Goh Ah Bee sells. lol 2) Usually with light kit is more expensive right, some experience flickering shadows. How often you all use the lights from the fan ? Its more of a want than a need ? 3) As stated above of my measurements to ceiling, how many blades is recommended for good wind circulation and at the same time not dangerous (afraid its too low) ? 4) What is the preferred material of the blades for better wind ? Their pros and cons. Some use wood, acrylic and metal. 5) Which is the recommended brands ? KDK, Crestar, Amasco, Elmark ? Which brands' customer service better ? 6) Installation can be done by renovation contractor ? or we need specialize technicians to do a proper job like balancing, etc. 7) Can installation of ceiling fan be done after renovation ? If so, do we need to ask reno contractor to do any extra points or other special needs just for the ceiling fan ? Sorry ask so many questions, my first time buying ceiling fan
