Chpt 16 : Stocking up ! Now that the reno is officially over...its time to fill up all the empty cabinets and spaces with stuff Definitely the most fun part of the reno for me. Here are some pics of us putting things together and moving in slowly.... dining light assembly..starting with this ending with this artistic shot of the dining light at night magbloc installed in kitchen for knives.. all Meyer woks, WMF full set of 18/10 stainless steel pans & pots courtesy of mum-in-law... some of them hanging frm our rails..

Thanks for your compliments.. We just tried our luck with the living room colours combo, heng it turned out all right. We always wanted an island in the kitchen and the small kitchen gave us the perfect excuse to build one cos we got absolutely no place to install the hob after putting up the 2 ovens. The kitchen now looks better with everything set up.. very industrial feel with all the steel appliances Will take a pic and post it up after we finish sorting things out..

Errr.. try not to ask your ID to get switches for you, they might mark up the price. Best to check out the prices for yourself, then compare it against the price quoted by the ID's electrician. If the ID's pricing is too high you can always tell the electrician to just calculate the total number of switches, you go get it yourself and ask them to install it.. You'll be saving quite a bit there. Another thing about the Zencelo's switches, they are full flat switches. Not to burst your bubble but they look best with concealed wiring. If your new place has exposed wiring with trucking and ends at a box, the effect will not be as nice. Lemme show you what I mean. Zencelo with trucking and box.. vs. concealed wiring (mounted on carpentry) It looks cleaner and flatter here.. You can take a look at Legrand switches too.. Lemme know if you need the shop's contact.. Legrand Mallia Legrand Mosaic (this one cost quite a bit)
-
If you want to see a demo, you can go to Door Plus at Liang Court to check it out first.. They have quite a extensive range of Samsung, Yale and Gateman digital locks.
-
Actually the Zencelo switches are not that expensive, in fact, the NEO with the small blue LED is way more expensive than the Zencelo.. All in all it's about 15 to 20 assorted switches, 10 to 15 double power, around 5 single power and 7-8 SCV/Tel switches. I did not install dimmers (those are very expensive)

Actually, I'm not an expert with coffee, I just know how to drink them!! And I'm totally fine with kopitiam kopi.. In fact, the woman at the Fernvale coffeeshop recognise me now and will start brewing my coffee once she sees me walking up! But but but... wait till you get your own espresso machine and make a nice cup of latte, shiok I tell you.. Have you been to the Nespresso counter at Taka? They will do an actual demo on the spot and serve you the coffee, with the Aerocinno making a nice frothy cappuccino, you would want to buy one straight on the spot!! Which model are you eyeing? Le Cube? Or the Citiz?

Sometimes PIN, sometimes key-knob... 50-50.. The key-knob is pretty small, you can just put it together with the rest of your keys in your keychain, no issue at all..

The pictures doesn't really show the effect of the spotlights well, it look completely different on it's own and at night.. Yeah, we notice scratches too.. In fact, there are scratches everywhere, that's how terrible the carpentry is.. Tomorrow is bang table day with the boss, wish us luck!!

Yup, got my Gateman lock from Desmond. His contact is 98307788 but he's currently overseas now..

Hello ! Love your layout ! The space is so huge esp in living and master bedroom we planned our home the same way u did, knocked off bedroom beside the master bedroom and converted to study area. Only diff is the rooms are not joined like yours but partitioned off to form a walk-in-wardrobe. look fwd to seeing more pics from u !

Becos of power requirement.. A cassette take up too much electrical current.. Partly also becos of the low ceiling height i guess.. IIRC cassettes are all 28k btu and above leh, your monthly electrical bill would prob kill you! Do you need that much cooling power in your living room??
-
Yup, cassette is not allowed in HDB due to the current drawn. Shouldn't have a problem with a System 1 for your living room cos they come in different BTUs. Depending on your living room space, you might want to opt for a 18k, 22k or even a 24k BTU blower.. I can't remember the formula but check with any aircon installer, they should be able to calculate the exact BTU requirements for your living room. You just need to make sure your aircon ledge has enuff space for 2 compressors and you'll need another extra isolator point for the second compressor..

We got it from this guy that deals in Samsung and Gateman digital locks.. Will PM you his contact if you are interested..
-
Well, we first saw this digital lock at another shop, the Yale 2108. Did some research and found out that Gateman has the exact same model and Gateman is now partly owned by Yale.. Lucky never buy the Yale cos it's almost twice the price for the exact same thing! Just the brand logo on the lock different only! The Yale cost almost $600 and the Gateman cost $330! It's a no-brainer choice. Comes with installation & 1 year warranty.

illy is a italian brand of coffee that's available in cafes in singapore.. they also make espresso machines..

Chpt 15 : The Lock of Love Finally ! Our doors can go in. We saved the drs for last as we didnt want them to get in the way of installations and things. So, when the guys came down to install, it was a milestone in our reno, symbolising the final lap of our reno the hinges being sawn off to fit solid veneer doors in mahogany. the grain is horizontal to the floor...instead of normal vertical lines... master bedroom door...looks darker here main door Gateman lock. Hubby's new toy for the home feels kinda like an investment. Our estate is a new one and quiet...so good to invest in security for the new home

Sure, here is the pic of my soundbar hanging on the feature wall And the amplifier box
-
Thanks.. Let us know if you need any help to source for any thing for your new place, perhaps we've come across it during our search..
-
Congrats on getting the keys!! Hoping to see more pics of your work in progress..

The rainshower is from GROHE, so are the mixers and the hand-shower and the taps.. The rainshower components are sold separately so it's kinda hard to tell you the cost, and I'm not too sure whether you want to know the cost of just the rainshower head or the whole set with mixers and concealed body and all. I got my electrician to purchase the switches for me, but I believe he got it from Choo Chiang Marketing.. I spent about $550 to replace all the switches, SCV, Tel points and powerpoints in the whole house..
-
Thanks! We are still in the process of cleaning the whole place up actually, haven't had the chance to use the rainshower yet!

Feedback On Bosch Combination Steam Oven Hbc36d753b
JandG replied to spike22's topic in Electronics & Electricals
The Bosch is a 45cm oven and it's internal capacity is only 32 litres.. While it's fine if you are just baking cookies or small cakes but it could be kinda small if you are gonna roast a chicken or a slab of beef.. Or a christmas turkey.. Have you looked at the SMEG S302X? Sales rep did a demo at the showroom before and we thought it was amazing, but too bad, we felt the internal capacity is a bit small at 45.5 litres even though it's a full 60cm oven and it's a bit too pricy for us.. Also, take note that the water container in a steam oven reduces the internal capacity so we decided to go for 2 separate ovens, a multifunction and a steam oven..
