Ok guys! I am back from house cleaning..took me, my in laws, maid and a friend to clear the items inside a bedroom which will be painted and parquet revarnish and was done in phases...back pain now..arghhh... anyway...took some photos...still have boxes, and stuff all around..but overall i am happy with it...or should i say my wife is happy with it..although she had some gripes with certain defects but glad my contractor will be rectifying it soon...but i guess i would have preferred the sub con to do a better job than wasting my time and my contractor time and money rectifying it...this is something beyond our control as a consumer...sigh so enjoy the pics! our theme is no theme....more of being practical.... Present to youuuu...my feature wall..although the white shouldn't be that white..should be an Lamitak Angel White but I dunno what happened to the carpenter end there..miscomm or something..so most prob gonna ask them to redo.. Another supposedly artistic shot of my living room...don't see the window film!! its cracked and shrink!! Window mirror on the feature wall...actually my design...but my ID approve it...lala... That is how you opened it..maybe put my wedding albums... and now present to you my masterbed room with downlight..but no cover cos waiting for touch up 1st... no downlight this time but special light...wife likes it..i don like it..in the end i like it.... another effect now taken with wardrobe as a background... wardrobe..nothing special i guess...alumetal laminate with cylinder laminate from lamitak...doesn't stand out if u you asked me... ah hah! my pride and joy! the study table and its cabinet..idea stole from mmycheng (one of the forumer here)..love the black white theme of the study table...important cos i always use the computer... picture of the study cabinet...ultra high gloss..can't see the gloss cos i forgot to buy 1 downlight... SORRY! the above pictures all went down already..: (..go down for further photos...

Ahoy there mateys! Finally I had the time to do up this blog! Went through the long and tiring process of choosing IDs and Contractors and finally took Arise Creation on 1st of September 2008. As my house had alot of stuff belonging to my in-laws, the reno project took off on 15th of September 2008 instead. Else my house would have been ready long ago..*mutters*... Took Arise Creation due to the ID itself who have worked as a Manager for an established ID firm before and I asked myself, better to let an 'orang lama' handle my renovation. The quotation given was also lower compared with others. Didn't choose Classic Design or Chew Interior after long consultation with my wife because I believe they mark up the price to sustain their showroom, lucky draws, free gifts and excessive marketing...and true enough my sis-in-law who took classic design do less stuff compared to what i am doing for the same price..only downside is that you have to put some faith in your IDs who may not be as established as those big 'o' companies..hehe... So not gonna bother you further, I present you pictures of my renovation! Actually taken 1 week ago whereby carpentry was on the way....as of now...its already completed but I haven't take pictures yet..so book mark this page and see the progress from near completion to it becoming a beautiful home...sorry no pre reno and mid reno photos cos its really ugly with all the hacking....

did you measure your study table to be 12feet? cos seems to me that ur study table is less than 12 feet..might be even 10 feet...i hope they don charge u for the corner part where they are overlapping...
-
wah nice sink..how much you bought it for and at where eh? TIA!
-
whoa..thats cool! whats the name of the company? might wanna pop by and give it a look...
-
I don't agree with your words, why some IDs charge expensive? because they have overheads to settle for e.g lucky draws, free gifts, advertisement and show rooms...I for one forgo all those things above and save about 6k in my renovation project with my current ID compare to other IDs quotation that I have compared and the work so far is **** good. I even use those hard to cut black crystal quartz tile to do skirting on my kitchen archway entrance and it was done knowing how difficult it is to cut. My feature TV wall is intricate and yet its bigger and cheaper than what is quoted by other IDs prior to my renovation. Maybe my ID use cheap laminate? I don't think so unless you say Lamitak is a cheap laminate company. Maybe my ID overcharge me? I made research through most of the threads here and I don't find evidence of quotations that were overcharged on me. Ultimately it boils down whether you feel better to have expensive IDs quoting and making yourself believe that since you pay a lot means your renovation is the best it can be. A real life example is my wife's sister who did her renovation with Class** Design. Good marketing company I can say but when I look at her quotation, I knew she was taken for a ride. Can't blame her since she did not go to renotalk or even google to research. Probably don't know how many CM is 1 foot or how many inch equates to 1 foot that kind of things. To sum it up, make your research and get the right contacts. Sometimes its cheaper because of a valid reason and its up to you to accept this reasoning.

ace_mav replied to pris01's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
i don't seem to have any problem with it...my ID clearly explain to me the location and left it up to me to explain to my choice electrician... -
Hi bro, ask you ah..the island false ceiling as shown above...did you false ceiling the entire ceiling as well..meaning 2 level of ceiling? or is it just 1 level of false ceiling which is just that 'island'. 2ndly, your PLC can become cove lighting as well ah?? haha....

$23k For 4rm "a" Resale Flat, Quotation Expensive?
ace_mav replied to pris01's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
yep yep..the good thing about his quotes is that its very itemised so you will at least get some closure on its pricing...unfortunately...electrical re-wiring is never a part of ID's quotation....so either you source an electrician or get the electrician he recommends... -

-
where you get the $21 dollars PLC light?
-
my ID quote me solid surface $60 per foot run...for cabinet its $94 per foot run...so you can try to calculate...
-
my ID quote me $500 so most likely your ID mark up..the price... my house is a 5i unit... its always true that you can get cheaper somewhere...but for convenience sake plus quality sake..i don mind paying a bit more..just not too much more...like in your case $900...
-
strangely, your common toilet tiles are not in line horizontally eh bro?
-
my ID quote me solid top = $60 PFR Study table - $140 PFR Wardrobe - $198 PFR Kitchen Cabinet - $ 94 PFR Cabinet base for 10ft is - $200 the rest i cannot compare cos I didn't ask for the quotation...really happy with my ID...alot of transparency compare to those ID with package price where you do not know what is the exact pricing...
-
if you interested..i can give you my contractor number..he get back to me with quotation in 2 days time and its cheapest of all the IDs/contractor i have surveyed so far..currently renovating my house (tiling works) and so far I am very happy with him...always contactable whenever I need clarification or modification...i think your 50k reno can become 30-35k with him..i am very sure of it...because what I get from a 24k quote I got 17k from him..so use that extra budget to put in feature wall and extra stuff..hahaha..so anyone interested can PM me for his detail..
