Some updates on my home... last checked yesterday and the tiling is 90% completed except for the grouting for the living and a bedroom. I must say I'm very pleased with the tiling workmanship.. very smooth despite numerous warnings that homogenous tiles warp quite a bit.. so I told my ID to help me thanks his tilers. Selection of tiles style: I told me ID i didn't want the mosiac and the 'feature wall' type of design and want something cosy. Black and dark colours are a No No! I showed him a few pictures from living etc: These are the tiles selected (colours abit inaccurate due to lighting): MBR Toilet: Common toilet: Living & Kitchen (Kitchen tiles are rectangular with faint greyish stripes):

What To Use To Clean Joints Between Homogeneous Tiles?
zeegi replied to newhouse's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
I also use magic sponger to scrub the lines in my mom's home- works very well Mr Muscle very strong so i don't really like to use cos it'll 'eat' into the tiles and your skin! So better protect your feet and hands when handling Mr Muscle. -
Spam Chop!! Congrats and enjoy the renovation process

Wow I envy your big toilet and your super pro-looking Mayer cooker!!

Some pictures of the hacking works done last week... tiling already started this week but i'm abit lagging on the photos.. MBR: Study Room: Kitchen.. looking good : Balcony... looks even better woohoo! More pictures! My ID says that the concrete is thicker than the standard 50mm HDB requirements so it took them slightly longer to hack everything away... Bye bye veri veri OLD room doors Sand going up up and away... View from main door.. the workers already clean up the hacking mess after a couple a days. Nice!
-
Oh so you're reusing the existing aircon? I saw your move-in date is x-mas which is only 1mth later cool
-
Yup today went to see and hacking all done. My ID say my house cement is thicker than the standard 50mm so they had a hard time drilling it. 3D drawings not ready yet cos i always change my layout and was rushing him to start ASAP so drawing probably out next wk or so. Oh i doing not much stuff due to budget constraint... I'm laying whole house with homogeneous tiles, cabinets for kitchen, wardrobe for MBR, toilets, air con, main gate, and the typical electrical and plumbing works.

Ya the toilet is very old already.. window is rusty and door frame has totally corroded that you can see the inside of the frame. The kitchen entrance is spoilt- can't slide properly, kitchen sink and toilet bowls are leaking. Didn't spot all these until the house was handed over but it doesnt matter since i'm doing a over-haul.

I'm finally back! Been busy during the past few months getting excited with my second appointment, meeting IDs and making a difficult decision on whom to choose base on our budget. Well we have selected our ID and reno works have begun with the hacking of the house. In the mean time, here's the before pictures: Master Bedroom: Guest room: Common toilet: Balcony: MBR toilet: kitchen entrance and protecting my property agent =) :

I suggest you go shopping for the lights on your own at balestier, take down the model number and price then compare with other shops. I regretted abit for not bargaining much for my lights but since already pay deposit then bo pian. Your contractor can recommend the lights to you but it's best not to commit when they're around- you really pay at least 20% more than a regular walk-in customer. A couple of bloggers here have quite abit of details on the shops they went and how much they spent so you can have a rough gauge.

Wow I ALSO WANT TO SAW IT OFF LIAO!! hahaha Why are there wooden bars below your door? Did you change your door frame to wood? Oh and btw my reno has just started today so i hope i'll be more hardworking and show the reno progress like what you do...
-
Did you remove the metal bar on the balcony window?

Is it the 8KG model? Contemplating on Ariston washer and dryer but it's really rare to find people use it in S'pore so is wondering how is the maintenance? Nowadays there is so many advertisements on Samsung washer and fridge but it's korean and i feel that korean products don't last.

I think it'll be good if you take a picture of this masking tape 'repair' job as evidence of more shoddy work and make sure the picture has date. Hang in there!
-
Hi TBS, are you sealing up the vents above the doors as well? How about the sewage pipe at the balcony? Your quote give me a good comparison for me to bargain with my ID heh heh
-
Hi chocolatemuffin, so sad to see so many complains... I was following up on your reno and looking forward to the finishing look! But anyway 'jia you' and go all the way to claim your rights to get the defects fixed. Good luck!
-
My hubby is also drooling for white power coated windows and we also keep adding things to our reno contract... sigh don't we all wish that MONEY CAN DROP DOWN FROM SKY!!

Has anyone used an Ariston Aqualtis washing machine before? What brands of washing machine do you use and why?

What's Your Ballot Number?
zeegi replied to DoubleJ's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
i never got anything small than the hundreds and my 'best' number was nearly the end 8000+ =( But my friend got <10 and she chose the punggol flat with the balcony in the MBR... lucky gal .. and i ended up with a resale -
Power coated windows and grills definitely looks nicer but if you're on budget i guess the silver ones will make do if you can live with it... won't be good to come home after a hard day of work and find your windows/grills a sore-eye

Well sort of shortlisted but haven't confirm yet.. Oh i thought you hack the toilet door to have more space for the shower screen? What we initially plan is move the door to the corner, remove the concrete block between the wall and the basin (not sure whether u have this or not). So then you can shift the basin to be directly beside the toilet bowl so extra space for the shower screen
-
My ID also suggest to shift the MBR door cos it's right smack in the middle and take up space! But my shower screen will be L-shape .. can't imagine what does that mean though....

Well when i went to view the house the 2 sisters were there.. owner is i would say a 50+ lady and husband. Is yours the one where the owner has a dog but nearer to the curry fish head stall? My husband didn't like the house because of the smell of the dog. So we immediately put down payment for my new hse Well i feeling lazy to post lei... anyway i will do it soon cos I'm getting my keys tomorrow (hooray!) and have to confirm an ID next week. I let the owner delay the submission of the OTP cos initially they were looking for a place to stay. For the completion they requested 6 weeks cos they found the place and renovation was in progress so they need abit of time to shift their stuff. Just fyi, my mom's kitchen is cement screed and plastered. Just make sure the lizards don't happily pang sai all over the wall like what is happening now to me. When that happens, put a chilli there and they'll run away. My mom does heavy cooking (with no hood) so oil stains on cupboard but u can just wipe away with Jif or Mr Muscle.
