  1. i thot you like centre ceiling color? If centre lighter shade then the tu chu one is the side false ceiling le ba.
  2. Yeah I want 2-way switch and dimmer too. If got excess budget, I oso dream of those Korean motion sensor light at foyer. So cool! But for cove light in the centre, will the centre ceiling look dark and ugly when you dun turn it on at night?
  3. Hi Jule Thanks for tat piece of info. Will go search for #312. I love tat black strips on ur floor. Wanna copy ur idea can? haha But when you cover with furniture, it's not obvious anymore right? Ur false ceiling is ALL white as sakae sushi suggested. So I guess colored false ceiling is not suitable for our area?? Actuali I begin to wonder whether having PLC on both sides is really necessary since most people actuali onli on the ones above the sofa. Bright enough meh? I'm used to the old school centre light piece. haha Oh yeah intel & rondy, in case of mis-communications, the 3D is part of the package so tats y to me considered free. I have to pay deposit first before I get my 3D though I know some ID firms actuali give 3D first before you even sign contract. Eg Baroque - Andy (Nice guy)
  4. Hello! I know cos I'm oso from Blk 89 But after reading too much from the topic "My Neighbourhood" I get confused who is who le. So you mean if white false ceiling is ok but if put color then will be very cramped?
  5. so does Tanglin Halt neighbours have false ceiling? or jus L box? ( Those who have, is it really very cramped? Can share experience? Yeah I agree FS is different for each individual cos not all born in the same day and time I din engage a FS master, so I just want to find a layout that is comfortable and of course cost savings hee hee. Just take the FS issue with a pinch of salt ba. Nope I'm not charged for the 3D but I dun think my contractor will give me more drawings since she has to pay her designer for them.
  6. well if got excess then can consider hacking ba. BTW, please give ur comments on false ceiilng design. Cant make up my mind on which one is better. NO COVE LIGHTING for me cos I'm scared of the recession which is a breeding ground for lizards it seems haha So please ignore that cove design. I am wondering whether to have 2 sides false ceiling (colored sides or colored centre?) or 1 side false ceiling above the TV area will do? Sufficient lighting if just based on PLC downlights?
  7. Well tat was the market price then. Dun think we have much of a choice. Plus huge financial burden lo and the monthly instalment can be **** if kena retrenched. Plus we buy high, so can't earn much as compared to those who bought the flats before 2008. SG so small, ur area will oso become developed then oso can fetch high price and be very accessible with our advance public transport! haha
  8. Tanglin Halt is the 3 40-storey HDB flats in front of Commonwealth MRT lo. Bought it for $380K ++
  9. lol. yeah i noe. Mine is the bay windows (the lousiest - no 3/4 window or full length window). Dunnoe what contractor is thinking so just let it be lo.
  10. hi steve, do you mean applefreak's sister's wardrobe, putting the TV inside the wardrobe? pai seh applefreak do you have a direct link to ur bedroom facing toilet door? too many pics for me to find thanks arh
  11. well applefreak, I think my hubby will KILL me if I push the blame to the position of the door. He'll say i'm crazy lol But then again, I went to visit some neighbours who were kind enough to let me in. All three of them din change the position of the toilet door. Tats y i oso wonder whether I should spend tat few hundred dollars just to get an approval. X leh! Bluetooth, different IDs charge different rates can range between $500 to $1000.
  12. Hello! So fast so many replies! haha. Well I do believe in fengshui to a certain extent but tat costs $$$ when you want to do tis and tat. Eg 1) From the main door, it's a straight pathway to BR2, which means all my luck goes straight out of the window! Eg 2) Then 3 doors in a row is not a good sign. (BR3 door facing MBR door and facing MBR TOILET DOOR ) like all luck goes flushing down the drain too So difficult to really do it my way unless I have deep pockets (Initially wanna hack the MBR door to change its posiiton facing the windows instead - but PE cost so X!! ) Anway, share some of my 3D tat I got from my contractor today. More to come since I am meeting her later in the evening. I know the pictures are big but can see all the details more clearly for old me. BUt if really cant stand it then I realize k.
  13. I want to share my experience here and of course steal more ideas from fellow forummers. Plus to thank stevetang for his patience and advice. Well, here is my floorplan : A 90 sqm 4 room flat @ Tanglin Halt.
  14. Thanks de_Pierre. So I guess unless I have side wall support for the slab top, I have to make do with grantie top and save the $$. But dunnoe why contractor say can. Haiz Well have to check with her again. Or else really just do chopping on the floor then.
  15. [/ Hi de_Pierre, Hope you understand what I am drawing. Concrete base for that suspension look. Add on a concrete slab to support the basin area. Used tiles to cover concrete. I'm not a heavy user. Dun really cook la. So you mean it's not possible to do that partial support? So I stick to just grantie top instead of concrete support with tiles will just do fine?
  16. Hi khet13 & de_Pierre, Sorry to make use of your question on sink & concrete support. Because I am a "chopper" (Family likes to eat crabs la), I think concrete support will be able to stand the impact when I kill the crabs as compared to wood. True anot? At the same time, I am doing suspended cabinets, so my contractor told me concrete support can hide the side support by doing partial side support onli. She'll use tiles around the sink area and grantie for the rest of the kitchen top. I am a lazy person (washing area always wet, so can onli use tiles and grantie I guess). However, if I am already using grantie, should I still spend more on building the concrete support? Really appreciate your advice. Thank you.
  17. Well zirhk3355 I do hope I'm not wrong to squeeze tat 2 feet cos I'm not thin either! Anyway appreciate your help to look thro my quote then Thank you!
  18. Dear zirhk3355, Thank you for your patience. I anyhow draw the layout wan. Didn't take measurements. However, one ID told me the distance between the TV and bed for both layouts is 2 feet. I believe it's still reasonable for passage way ba. I also like layout 2 but the wardrobe onli 10 feet. Whereas the wardrobe in layout 3 is 13 feet! So I guess more space for me to hide my rubbish. Wish me all the best. Now comparing quotes liao. Is $22K (exclude electrical) a reasonable amount for Feature wall @ HHS, TV Feature Wall & Console, a platform at MBR? I'm onli doing these 3 main areas lo (Kitchen, Living/Dining Room & MBR).
  19. Hi deepakvali, Well, not all the ideas come from the ID, some of the layouts come from renovation blogs that I found on the Internet. I did ask several IDs on my layouts. However, I've gotten different answers which make me confused. As I am a first-timer, I want to be extra careful. Since I am going to face the house everyday, I want it to be really warm and homely and not cramped and 'heavy' if my layout is really lousy. Hence, although you guys do not vast experience, you guys stayed in your own home, renovated it and have lived with it. You will be able to advise on whether certain layouts are really 'livable', what are the mistakes to avoid and such. Whereas, IDs' or contractors' may not be 100% trustworthy cos their aim is sales and they are not the one living in the house! Or they may reject certain ideas cos the work may be time-consuming or labor-intensive. I hope you understand where I'm coming from.
  20. I am considering this layout if I want to save on hacking cost. However, some told me if I do wardrobe this way, the effect will be pretty heavy. Whereas, it will be better if I do a feature wall and TV console on the other end. Yet, it will make my wardrobe smaller. Really no #344 neighbors in this forum? Please kindly share your designs. Thank you!
  21. Noted Applefreak. Thanks. Yes zirhk3355, I am hacking the wall to change the location of the MBR door. I also like layout 2 with the washing machine away from the window so easier to dry my clothes, but was told that with the drainage beside the pillar, it is not possible. True? I have read through almost all the posts of Tanglin halt and do know you guys organize a meeting every Sat. But couldnt' find a chance to go over to meet you guys yet. Sorry. So far, I have only seen mos_burger with the layout. Couldn't find any other neighbours @ #344. So please share your designs, neighbours! Thank you.
  22. HI Applefreak, Do you mean like this? TOILET DOOR AIR-CON LEDGE WIW------------------------------------------------------WIW MBR DOOR Thanks.
  23. Hi all, As attached above, I do not know whether it is advisable to spend the money to actually hack the existing MBR door. The main reason is not for the WIW, but cos I do not want to see the toilet door when I open my MBR door. Hope to hear suggestions and advice on alternative layouts! For the washing machine being under the window due to the presence of the exisitng tap at the pillar really irriates me as it makes drying of clothes so difficult with the W/M blocking part of the window space! However, I was told it is impossible to do alternative layout as the drainage is beside the pillar, whereby the W/M cannot be placed beside it. Hope you guys understand what I'm saying. Hee hee. The layout is so fustrating! HELP, need suggestions from those in Block 89 Tanglin Halt #344. Thank you!
  24. Hi Mr Chong, My floor plan is the same as mos_burger. (Hi neighbour of #344) I am also worried about the "Qi" flowing from the main door through the lving room and out of bedroom 2 as the corridor outside the main door is an airwell (Low wall). On top of that, from the master bedroom, there are 3 doors in a row (From MBR toilet door to MBR door to BR 3). Is this good under FS terms esp when it's toilet door facing the 2 bedroom doors? Lastly, I understand that our fridge should not face the toilet door as it's food facing filth. Is there any way I can do adjustment if the fridge really must face the toilet door due to space constraint? Greatly appreciate your advice. Thank you.
