Tiling in my storeroom. DUnnoe what those cute little pieces of paper btw the tiles are for. The gap btw the tiles and the wall is big but will there be skiritng inside the HHS to cover tat gap up? My contractor said the gaps could be due to the uneven walls. She'll accompany to the house to explain.

Thanks everyone. Well, my orignal sand quote was for living room and 3 bedrooms. BUt cos i changed to living room only, I was given a discount. So lucky I went from Taugress to Hup Kiong to Hafary, whereby I finally found the white tiles I like. Cos I dun like beige la though I was advised to take those creamy colors so tat dirt not so obvious. In anycase, hopefully it remain white always haha and not turn yellowish. My frenz's white tiles turned yellowish after 2 years! Pray Pray I'm not so unlucky.

The pile of sand seem so little. I was hoping to see mountains but then less sand means less so ok la I save $$ My tiles arrived the day before the uploading of the sand. . So the workers can start tiling the next day. So fast Ok Tiling works done : I was given Ah Seng and Chong to do my tiling. Chong cleaned that long stretch of tiles before he proceed to do the next one . I was even asking him why he cant wait until the whole place is tiled before he wiped off the sand and cement. SO tiring to clean everytime you do one stretch. LOL. But do they really do 1 tile by 1 tile? In anycase, how to check their workmanship?

Yeah better dun make her angry. haha. So jus do as she suggest lo. My TV besides the window, so cant do light 5 & 9. With jus one light on each side, think may not be bright enuff.
-
lol. My contractor asks me to trust her that 9 PLCs is not alot as my living room is long. Well i already given her aot of problems. SInce she say trust, I guess I have to or else how to continue smoothly.
-
Thanks Angel81 & CybNoX for the tip. CybNoX you seem to have alot of lights! Mine is like tis. Dunnoe how to alternate the lights so just do as contractor advise.
-
I went to look at my electrical works. The whole house seem to be flooded with these 9 PLCs and my contractor still say not bright! Initally ask me to add another 3 more spotlights (which I rejected her suggestion in the end). Hope listening to her idea to have so many PLCs for my so-called "Long" living room is really ok and not overly bright and waste too much electricity since already buying energy saving ones.

It was Jan-08 Balloting Exercise. Mine was mid level ba (Level 2X). Sorry cant help you with my 5rm neightbors pricing.

Well, here's my 'crocodile skin' kitchen floor. Dunnoe whether you guys can see the wavy patterns on the tile. well jule, I guess our kitchen is dark cos no sun shining in. Mine facing south and the 2 panels of window not enuff lol. sakae sushi, I sure have 2 lights in the kitchen since the lighting points already provided. DUn waste As for task lighting at wall cabinet bottom, self installed or get contractor to do for you? Cos I see Giant have those long 3 LED lighting with 12 bulbs for self-installation for $20 plus using 6 AAA batteries. Then hor you have to walk all the way to the sink to turn on the light when you can do it at the entrance isn't tat tiring? I mean both my familes never have tat kind of practice of having lights under the wall cabinets. So really useful?

Oh Yeah Urgent request. My living room is 22.5 ft long by 13 ft wide. My contractor asked me to do 9 PLC downlights (2 tubes 18W each) and 3 additional spotlights (incase these 9 PLC not bright enuff). I did my research in the forum that said 2 tubes of 13W is bright enuff but my contractor said likewise. Do i reallyhave to spend so much to do 9 PLC? It costs me $65 per unit (inclusive supply & Installation of the PLC plus one switch for 2 PLC) THen my false ceiling is 4 feet wide at each side - $975. Is tat X? She's asking me to confirm the electrical works but I'm not convinced. Pls help.

well i have black granite top, so if i take bright red botton cabinets, i scared too much "FIRE" leh. Realized tat black top quite difficult to match wif other colors leh. White surface top seems cooler but too bad hubby wants granite. Hee it's black floors (crocodile skin design). The slanted white color portion is a wall. Looks funny cos I copy and paste to become a pillar. Me no 3D graphic software just use "Paint" software to do. SO pardon the weird look
-
Pardon my ugly drawing. Tis will be my final kitchen color combi and layout. Hope it's not too dark and gloomy and the countertop is sufficient for food preparation and storage area for my rice cooker, water jug etc.
-
I want INDIAN black galxy leh cos it's darker in color. Dun lke light black. Water marks arh..........ok just have to try to be more careful then
-
Hurray! Then for lazy bum like me granite is perfect. Sometimes after cooking maggie mee, I jus dump the hot pot either on the top or in the sink when I cant find the protector mat. Plus i'm a terrible washer, water can splutter everywhere and I cant be bothered to wipe dry. SO as long no water marks, no burnt marks it's good news for me!
-
So granite ok? I mean do you put hot pots on the top? wet plates? will leave water marks etc? Then i forgot to ask you. You use glass doors for all the top cabinets. wats the additional charges? wiping them clean from dust tough work?
-
Well i do heard of granite cracking under tremenous heat. Put ur loaf of bread or wet plastic bags on the grantie will leave the "BRANDING" on the top. But some forummers dun have such problem. I think depends on heng suai? So khriz, wats ur opinion? steve you using granite or solid top? cos i can onli see it's black counter top
-
Hmmm then really have to think hard on the gloosy and matt laminate issue. WIll take samples back and get my kids to test them out. Sure can tell whether scratch resistent anot! I'm using black galaxy granite top. So I guess no issue on yellowish top and scatches I guess. sakae sushi tats a very funny idea of hanging ur dryer upside down. Thanks for the suggestion but dun like dryer ba. still prefer the good old sun shining down. At most be auntie, dry **** room since it's facing west Yeah steve, drawers have to top up if I want more Haiz. Actuali do we really need to cover tat dish rack portion with a glass door? I mean expose really ugly arh? cos so troublesome everytime wash dishes must open door I oso prefer put on top of sink, can let the water drip in.
-
Steve! Position of dish rack can change la. Actuali I din notice the weird layout until you point it out. Well I'm gg to my place today with HER so take measurements on site see whether layout 2 really practical anot. I oso hope to avoid blocking the window if possible. Yeah Angel81, glossy laminates are really bright. Matt is safer though. Congrats on your ongoing reno. Hope to see ur red and white kitchen soon! BTW what is the colour of ur counter top?
-
No I'm scared of front load WM as my monsters like to play with the WM door when we are at the electrical applicances department. Dun want to take the risk despite those child lock safety features cos I'm a 100% blur sotong. My contractor ask me to take glossy leh. Say dun have to worry - Fingerprints oso not obvious and can clean off stains easily as lamiates technology has improved. White laminate won't turn yellow like old times. . Guess I have to read those old threads to decide again. haha
-
I hate tat pillar! Well the W/M height jus reach below the window nicely. Neighbours who have this layout say it's quite windy at our area so no worries abt hanging inside. They dun hang their clothese outside lo haha Yup the red/white design is better than the standard grey/white, but it does remind me of a flag but color combi not confirm yet
-
Con is dunnoe haf enuff countertop anot since all squeeze in 1 row but Pro is tat it's neat. Con is dunnoe whether W/M will hinder my washing. The sink not exactly in front of W/M. but a 2 ft dist i guess cos i want longer counter top. Some of my neighbours chose tis layout, saying that it is ok for the washing machine to block part of the window. Plus it has a very long countertop. Please note that the drawings are not drawn to scale. Feel free to give comments.

Dunnoe how I'm gg to paint the ceiling few years down the road unless I pay for professional help, so i guess i'll stick to normal white ceilings ba. But definitely NO cove light cos I'm a lazy bum. Low maintenace is impt to me! I think look ok ba.
-
Wow 9 switches. Ok will take note to tell my contractor these. Steve oso reminded me to have more switches. So Jule, for your house, when you dun turn on the cove light at night, will the centre ceiling look dark and ugly? Cos I'm not doing cove light so really appreciate your experience in this. Thanks.
