Hi hi... thanks for the PM... By the way i used Lollipop on my TV wall too...

Hi, the 5W lamps are the so call energy saving type with built-in gear (ballast). Not those which need a external ballast to power-up type.
-
Hi geryl, may i know where u got ur sofa and how much is it?
-
Well totally agreed with you. Actually find downlight (especially small square type) the most in efficient bcos the light beam angle very narrow which means we will have to put more to cover the whole room. Tats y i choose to have cove lights with very minimum downlight (for asthetic purpose) for my living rooms.

U mean I-Deal got no 3D for you to view 1st b4 ur work started? -
Most fluorescent lamp without integrated control gear can last 10K-12K hours. As for most reliable brand's energy saving lamp, it can last 8k hours. If you on the lamps 7hours daily (6pm-1am), a 8k hours lamp should last you around 3 years. And how much will a energy saving lamp cost you? Less than $10 which means each year only cost $3.33 or $0.009 per day..... But for LCD TV, we buy a few thousands but never ask or concern so much... tats us lah.... cos i also same same... ha ha ha

If u just wanna buy lamps, most DIY, NTUC, Carrefour etc sells reliable brands like Osram & Philips. But if u r talking about complete fittings for your new home, then u really got to walk around to do ur own homework. Most lighting shops are located in Jalan Besar, Balestier, Geylang etc. Most of them carry Philips & Osram as long as you ask for it.

WOW Bro, ur home very nice leh. Nice lighting too, bright and warm. As for the brightness visually, its very personal. So no right or wrong unless we are talking about the actual measurement of brightness in lux level, ha ha ha. But i sure agreed that we must all switch to energy saving lamp to save pocket & save the earth... Just stating facts cos a lot of products in Spore have imitated MIC (Made in Chxxx) ones liao. If we consumer do not start asking for real product, the $$$ hungry business man will keep bringing in fake or lower grade but same outlook products to sell us at attractive price.

Heard this year they may have sales earlier in Aug...

Ohter than Ikea, most lighting shops along Jalan Besar and Balestier have too. But need to walk the along these roads to find out.

Hi bro, wat type of conventional lights r u referring to? If it is Incandescent Lamps that ur conventional is referring to, then you might be wrong. Cos those so call energy saving lamps in the market (Philips or Osram) are measured as energy saving because they are as bright as 8 pieces of Incandescent Lamps by at a much smaller wattage. That is why its called a Energy Saving Lamps. So using energy saving lamps (Reputable ones) will really saves energy bcos they did a lot of R&D to ensure the products saves energy then they print on the packing boxes. Those house brand ones may differ as most shops gets China Factory to OEM for them a similiar outlook lamps as Philips or Osram but less their technology.

Oic, maybe i'm wrong about it. But do agree that screw type energy saving lamps are much user friendly to home user. As for the magnetic ballast brand, i think its better to choose good and known brands like ATCO, Philips etc. Reason is because of safety for homes. Those in-house brand or Malaysian made are made from those $$$ eyed factory who only think about making $$$. ATCO & Philips are big MNC which reputation are at stake so must comply to international standard. Look at ATCO & Philips from the following link, they are not just a local lighting shop or backyard factory making ballast. Both of them are over 50 years history in making the best lighting parts for the world. http://www.tridonicatco.com/kms/cms/kms.php?str_id=74 http://www.lighting.philips.com.sg/sg/en/P...&fldr_id=99 Well thats all i felt about it when it comes to electrical items, SAFETY. But doesn't mean I'm right.

Lumen Output (Brightness) between PLC 10W & 13W: PLC 10W = 600 Lumen PLC 13W = 900 Lumen PLC 18W = 1200 Lumen PLC 26W = 1800 Lumen *Figure base on major brands like Osram & Philips etc. For Sakura, no details as its not the common brands in this class. For lifespan, if you use a 13W ballast to run a 10W lamp, of cos the lamp will still work but the 10W lamp will fail earlier as its been over powered. Under powered like using 10W ballast to work on 13W will either lamp not working or fail early too. Hope its helpful.
