Bought a resale hdb recently. I think I might not be able to replace doors to the 3 bedrooms and main door. Some unknown force is preventing me to do so. Vendor 1: this one advertise every sat on newspaper, the ad is larger than most others with two handphone numbers listed with ladies name. I called up 2 days before to arrange appointment at my flat for door selection, I asked between 12noon to 1pm. The lady said they need 2 hour, so the appointment is from 12noon to 2pm. That day morning, the lady called up to remind me of the appointment, how professional I thought. After 2pm no one turn up. I thought they might be delayed. Then at about 2.30pm I called this lady. She said "my man never turn up meh?" and then said will call back soon. But then 20 mins past already there is no call from her. I called her again, and her reply is "Can I arrange my man to come down at 4.30pm?" Vendor 2: this vendor also advertise in newspaper, always put the address "Geylang" in the ad and his wife must be queen of doors. Anyway the arrangement is to meet 3.30pm. When no one turn up at 3.30pm, I called, and the reason given is my name and contact is not in the schedule list, and asked me to wait for 1 hour as they are now at Jurong area. Vendor 3: Frustrated, I looked at this forum for some door vendor, and looked at one with a nice website that listed nicely the showroom map at Changi Road and opening hour daily till 8pm. So I made an effort to visit the showroom just now about 4pm, thought to myself that there can never be no-show if I visit showroom. So I spent about 45mins to travel there, by bus! And when I reached the showroom, there are doors and + but no one around. So I called them thinking the guy might be out for some pee time. The guy answering is located at the other showroom at Liang Court (which is not mentioned on their website) and said will call back shortly. So I have to waste 15 more mins of my time, no one call me, I have to call to find out that the guy will be back only one hour later. And he even dare to ask me to wait one hour for him. I am not fussy about door and will buy from any of them upon meeting. Is business too good for these people? I felt so helpless and so bullied especially by the first one.

Looking to buy 2 shower heads: * I not willing to pay for high end brand names such as Groehe, Hansgrou etc. Is there any mid level brand name shower heads? * For no name brand that you see at Hoe Kee, Poh Joo, they all look similar to me, any idea how do one choose? Thanks

Dupont Corian and LG Hi Mac seems to be the same type, both 100% acrylic. I was quoted 120 for LG and 130 for Corian. For Cresto is not 100% acrylic, quoted 90.

Home & Furnishing: The Kitchen Cabinet Story
gaiusparx replied to cornetto's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
I intend to renovate kitchen only. I been to Classic and Seng Kwong. Price around $140 psf. I heard about Closet Design. Any reliable and cheaper cabinet builder anyone could recommend? Thanks -
I visited Teka showroom, the lady said for insert mount kitchen sink, the water tap is not solid stable when you swing the tap, cos it is attached to the stainless steel. And you can feel the water tap swinging a bit when you turn the tap for the demo set at Teka showroom. Is it true that nothing can be done to make the tap solidly attached to the sink? Anyone with inset kitchen sink, is your water tap stable and not swinging? Thanks

I went to Sealy showroom notice the king/queen mattress is of length 75inch, but then when I search the net, some king/queen mattress are 80inch length. Same for the width, some queen comes in 60in, some are 65inch. And for king, there are width of 76 and 78. Is there any Singapore standard size for mattress? If I buy a king-size bed sheet from Aussino, will it fit all mattress from Sealy, Serta and Simmons? Thanks

Is there any limit to the number of 13A power point at a single location? I intend to wire 8 x 13A at the TV console. And also another 8 x 13A below computer table. Is it too much?

Just bought resale flat, would like to keep the L-box ****/dining and cornices inside rooms. If I add in additional sockets in the room (for example additional 2 sockets in mbr and two more in another rooms), will the existing L-box/cornices be spoilt? Cos I think the electrician needs to remove the cornices in the room and L-box in the dining hall in order to lay the cable from the room to the DB right? Thanks

How would one choose whether to go with an ID firm or specialist shop (such as mudian, classic for kitchen, closet design for wardrobe)? Thanks

Some Basic Resale Flat Reno Questions, Pls Help
gaiusparx replied to gaiusparx's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Thanks! I have a lot to learn. -
Just got the keys to resale 4-room flat, in the processing of thinking of what to do: 1. What is chemical wash? Is it only for washing the floor? How about tiles on the wall? Is it a part of reno process by contractor? Can it be used on existing tiles? 2. Intend to replace the 3+1 aircon. Is it better to get the contractor to redo the piping? The existing piping looks ok if possible intend to keep it for cost saving. 3. I assume the paint job is normally carry out after all electrical wiring and air con piping. Am I right? 4. Any idea if one needs license to change the main door? I was told by property agent that the main door needs to be fire proof and cost few thousands dollar. 5. What is the best way to go about the problems of holes on wall titles left behind by old bathroom accessories for example? And for holes on the wall when you removed nails? Am I able to engage someone to touch up (is it called platering?) and do the retiling for me? Any idea if I buy bathroom accessories from let say Hoe Kee and ask for installation, are they able to do retiling and make the whole thing as good as new? Or must I engage separate contractor to retile and touch up all titles with lobang. Thanks

Any idea what is agent's role during 1st appointment interview in HDB? And after the first appointment, what other things I need the agent to do? And do I need the agent during the second appointment? The reason I ask is I would like to reduce seeing my agent as much as possible. Thanks.... but pls help

gaiusparx posted a topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Currently using a Simmons and thinking of trying different brand of mattress. Have narrow down to Serta or Sealy? Any comments or recommendations?
