  1. self pawn EDIT: for the uninitiated, try to figure out who's trying to be 'trusted' here.
  2. lol if u know how to search for his posts , u will know whether u want to listen to him or not
  3. for me, i sent in my application and the needed documents. called them the next day and told them to expedite my case cos i want to sign my OTP. next day i call them again and they said already approved. just wait 2 days for letter to arrive.
  4. went to visit Kelvin of Tau interior on Sunday to discuss the previous quote. got some advice from him and also clarified some renovation things we didnt understand. he also brought us to see a recently completed flat he done in pasir ris. The workmanship looks ok. we don't know how to differentiate good from bad but i just touch here and there and feel the edges etc to make sure they are not rough etc. design is also practical yet pleasant looking. After that we also went to visit Mike from Baroque's place as it was recently renovated. Was attended by someone else from his team. Not sure why he didn't talk to us much but maybe cos he was busy preparing for his housewarming which also is on that day... His house was very nicely done and in fact too much for us. Wanted to discuss the quote and see the workmanship but ended up admiring his renovations. His junior was kind enough to show us around and answer our queries and gave some advice to us regarding our home reno. His house is too 'wow' for us already and just a lil unsure if our home will turn out as good as his since he doing his own house sure do better? shrugs. For now, I personally shortlist only the following Kelvin - Tau Interior (very friendly attitude and able to understand our needs) Johnny - Idealhouse (not met up yet, quote is a lil high but still reasonable. might be too busy for us tho?) Mike - Baroque (price is one of the best so far, will meet him up when we got keys to get a final quote + feel about his work attitude) Roy - Inzen (still awaiting quotes to see how it is cos the reviews from forummers say till very very good ) The rest are probably out
  5. yup changing door only. frame quite expensive leh. seal up the top vents only 50-100$ per door from various quotes. yup we doing overhaul... hoping to be < 30k including electrical so far most of the quotes we got only can hit this target when we don't do any built in in the living room except one we can afford to do featurewall+console+shoe cabinet and still be in budget...
  6. oh that one confirm tampines. lol anyway which blk u staying. my flat at 13x... facing the pie
  7. wahhh so nice... me not so lucky... queue number sucks during jan ballot... that location in bedok is superb... if only i had gotten it
  8. yup thanks for the advice. just emailed him... waiting for his quote now
  9. hey babytan, thanks for dropping by. mine is a yorkshire + pomeranian mix. hehe hmm thanks for sharing your glass door story with us. come to think of it, i also dunno if swing door will have problem. cos of budget i think we'd probably go with swing door but scared they can open... not sure but should be heavy enough not to be opened right? anyone knows? as for ventilation, we thinking of not changing frame so i doubt can seal up the top for free ba... at first i tot just dun tell id then when they come ask them do for free...but i scared end up gotta top up and burst my budget...
  10. how bout a sumo wrestling bear theme? lol congrats on baby bear
  11. hehe things are taking shape. should be able to move in soon? im so envious! when will be my turn?
  12. ya i think $80 is ok la. alot also quote $100ea. only 1 so far quote us $50ea. After deciding to spend so much money to make your house nice nice. think its worth it to pay another $100-200 for this. else it will be an eyesore
  13. huh where got mcdonalds? tampines?
  14. erm if air con person do maybe will be free? but i think it'll be rather ugly. im getting the IDs to do it. think they will use gysum board and plaster to make it look like wall. so far quotes for per ventilation range from 50 to 100 to board up.
  15. ya that why these lousy companies can get away with it. im kinda lucky i decided to follow forummers advice not to commit to anything at exhibitions. so far, all of the company i've visited at expo have quite negative reviews here. I guess thats why they need to go there to get business cos none of their customers want to recommend them to their friends. whereas those good companies actually have more than enough business purely by word of mouth and are too busy to attend such exhibitions... patience patience... though i think you're running low on patience now due to your lousy ID... anyway, I'm sure their quotation include project coordination which they did not provide maybe u can do something to get some 'discount' for the things they didnt do for u... worst case they don't agree then go to CASE and RADAC and give them ****
  16. good for u... i bought quite expensive i think but for me it was still an ok deal cos i like simei yea its a very self sufficient place by itself with malls, coffeeshops, fast food, ntuc etc only 2 things i find lacking. mcdonalds and cinema. lol
  17. i tot your did some wrapping of the insulation before but decided against it cos there might be water trapped underneath the foil/plastic wrappings and cause more problems than help to protect it?
  18. first thing first. set ur budget and stick to it... sometimes u will learn that some things can be done other ways which can help to save $$ by getting ideas/quotes from other IDs. also, try your best to prioritize what items are needed. after having the need list, check and see using the various quotations u got and see if ur need list can fit the budget. if cannot, u gotta revise ur need list or revise ur budget accordingly. after having the need list, u will create ur want list. also prioritize them according to how much u want them. so when quotes come in with the need list not hitting ur budget cap, u can start thinking of adding items from the want list to your renovation well this is how I do it anyway. so far, most companies gave me quotes with my need list just nice almost hitting my budget cap except for 1 which I can fit a few more extra things from my want list before hitting the cap. for those company where the total price of my want list already over budget cap, i just drop them immediately...
  19. hehe i think those who have researched alot can immediately identify which company this quote is from. wah u doing quite a major one... i think thats why so expensive. u probably need to cut down on some items if u're on a budget. i also initially wanted to do this and that but i realise we gotta be realistic. having a low budget with high requirements that no one can fulfill serves no purpose...
  20. u see those more active flats are all new flats right? like tpy blk 79, JM, JW. next time when the bedok and queenstown one complete i think here will have alot of buzz wrt those areas. some more simei so small. technically we are really under tampines. hehee
  21. those whose house have been done by tau pls post some pics!!!
  22. i already smsed roy 2 days ago. asked him when he got come to east side in the evenings just let me know then we can meet. i still prefer meeting up to discuss my requirements and floorplan. at least can also get a feel about ID and whether can click or not. i do think that some IDs are good but if don't click also no use ma. hope to hear from roy soon because he is 50% shortlisted even tho i've not met him yet thanks to all the reviews by u guys. hehe
  23. hehe these kind of forum only for internet saavy ppl like us ma. i bet if there are 1000 renovations going now, only 10% or less know of this forum. so there are still plenty of ppl for these company to makan....
  24. hehe good move. but wack too much later the agent not happy do funny stuff to cause problems man... anyway the agent is in a tight spot here too cos if u complain to HDB, the agent will be in trouble cos if u buy hdb through agent, they suppose to go through and make sure u understand a checklist. one of the items is the one i mentioned where u cant have pte arrangements/agreements outside of OTP. this is a new rule from hdb cos of many problems in the past cause by lousy agents. if hdb find out the agent did not brief u properly, think the offence / punishment is quite heavy. budden if u go through agent, u sure must sign that form one... guess they made u sign blindly? lol
