Visited 3 ID firms on Saturday. Here's the summary: Tau Interior - Was served by Kelvin after going in awhile cos he was busy with another person and there was no one else there. Practical and straightforward guy on first impression. Doesn't feel like he's much of a designer tho because there were not much design/layout input from him. Quote already came back yesterday and included everything we actually asked for plus those required things we didn't know about. Promised to give more discounts after confirmation and will also bring us to see a flat he is doing in pasir ris when its complete. Ideal House - Walked in and there were quite a few other customers there. No one seems interested to serve us initially but after a while, someone came. Not much ideas or recommendations or anything. Just ask us what we want, our basic design concept then bye bye. We'll see how the quote is like first since Ideal House is so highly recommended. Cant really remember the name. Terrance or something? Will update after I check the namecards. A&D - Served by Raymond. Seems very knowledgeable and experienced. Can feel that he knows what he is doing and offered some ideas on how to plan the layout and what can be done or what could be better. Some advice from him which we didnt even hear about or thought of when we visited the prev 2 ID firms. However, the impression and cues he gave was that it is not going to be cheap. We'll see how it goes when the quotation comes. Anyone got any feedbacks about these 3 IDs?

i went to visit them on saturday. just ogtten their quote in email... quite over my budget.... kelvin mentioned that customeres from referrals will get more discounts so anyone here who engaged tao can give me ur name and maybe ur house blk no., level and street? its a mutual benefit cause next time you got problem with ur renovation works, im sure they will be much much much more wiling to help u if you actually referred customers to them... right? so faster PM me your details if u used tau... thanks

that'll be so great. TIA anyway we also not looking to do something very complex, probably same as u hack all the floor and wall tiles and lay new one of the whole house kitchen cabinets MBR wardrobe rewire and electrical points change 3x bedroom doors, 2 x washroom doors do up some sliding door to seperate kitchen from living cos the storeroom has been hacked away so its open kitchen concept now. Optional stuff: guest room wardrobe study room storage tv wall feature / tv console shoe cabinet but we'd still probably get an ID cos they will do all the coordination with contractors and supervising or projects. both me and my wife-to-be are working so really cant afford to supervise contractors. at the same time hope ID can give us some idea + themes to make our home nicer

Mine's 4S at Blk 135 top floor facing the PIE exit. wow both of your flats are very near MRT compared to mine... hehe anyway what kind of reno you did and who is your ID/contractor? any problems? mind to share you quotation with me?

do u have any sample quotes from them? would like to know if they are competitive in pricing... cos my budget is quite small... do they have email? my and my gf looking to do reno for our 4room flat in simei and now sourcing for ID/contractor...

thanks. i also think the layout is quite good. the thing is, the way the windows, 'corners' and doors are located, we will pretty much be limited in the way furniture is placed so end up still the same layout as the previous owner in terms of wardrobes and beds. hehe

Yay flowplan arrived in my email shortly after my purchase of it through hdb website! Here is my lil 4S unit... The storeroom is actually not there anymore cos the previous owner hacked it away... My future wifey actually likes storerooms cos we an chuck all the ugly looking and useless stuff inside...

cool. which blk u in? which floor? my reno will start quite late cos now haven even first appt. and agreement with owner to stay 6weeks after completion. so hopefully reno can start by mid november. will use the time to source ID and do planning. hoping to start reno once keys are handed over

Been lurking in the forums for quite some time trying to learn the ropes and envying other people's renovation and home. Now it's finally our turn, our turn to build our Castle in the Sky. We signed our OTP last night concluding our search for a flat. It's a 4S (84sqm) flat in Simei. The experience of the search was at times frustrating due to our budget and we've met some nice, and some not so nice agents in the process. Now that one headache is over, time to brace ourselves for the next one. Renovation! Hopefully, we could learn from all the experts here with regards to this to make the headache a little easier to bear. We'll probably exercise the OTP tonight or tomorrow, depending on when the funds go through into my cheque account. Will try to take some pics if possible and maybe get hold of the floor plan.
