i thought to be nice to him to remove his pix since he passed mi his atm card and said that someone will transfer the money into that acct and i can transfer the money back to my acct. Guess it wrong to be so KIND. he become MIA again. we look for our MP b4, his lawyer advice, best option is police. however is should not be a case of breach of contract but a cheating case, as part of the money is suppose to be deposit to the company. ahwee, can ask u about the small claim tribunal? i pm u later the detail.

He suppose to return part f the money to me by 12 Dec 2008 but he had been remain uncontactable since 09 Dec 2008. Guess he either off his mobile phone or cancel it already. His company had already submit a police report on him. The address on his NRIC is belong to his sister which he did not stay there anymore. Anyone know wher is stay or his contact if possible do inform the police or his ex-company(65631311). He also mentioned that he already moved to another ID company, so do beware before you signed the contract.

if u talking about yours flat 8yr old, should be able to hack liao. Completed built 7 yr ago. noone take up, release in ballot. U might want to check w HDB for confirm again bah. unless yours is just completed. If completed 8 yr ago . . .

my work already quite flexiable. My ID always call mi to come out @ 3pm to meet to check on somethin @ my hse (plus payment for some crap things) . . . The ONLY fault of mine, is too trust him. That why no matter what, i advice will not give cash or transfer money to any ID/contractor. Instead payment should be 2 company be it, any hardware stuff or whatever. PS : i didnt carry so much ard, the payment is split a num of time, total amt until now is 5 digit. Most either CASH or through transfer to ID/contractor. PEACE PEACE. no offence 2 anyone also. I also wan to state fact that, it will be a better any CASH matter handle carefully.

Hi de_pierre, U cant blame johnny for all this. Firstly, most of us r first timer, while ID/contractor r a seasoner to reno. 1) Delay the work schedule , trying to find excuses say their workers today have to rush here and there. Schedules n timming can't be fixed dead. Eg. Tml is ur installation of toilet accessories sets, then suddenly these plumbers receive a call from other customer stating got burst pipes? Where shall they heed 1st? (They don need to give a FIX timing, they can always give by range of date instead. Yup true something unforeseen happen, but it should not be always happen right and cause the LONG delay, like that is that mean i should also expect my pipe will also burst in due time as their work is such qualilty) 2) Add unforeseen / hidden COSTS during the work. I believed everyone had encountered this whereby they have to add in this, add in that. Ask them to do some extra like fixing lightning, they will say need to charge. U already mentioned "EXTRA". Extra works shouldn't be charged? Unforeseen/ Hidden costs? Which hse doing major reno works doesn't have it? Hidden cost can be used on those contractors whose mainly with low ethics. Eg. Contractor quoted whole hse re-piping works for resale flat, existing pipe is hidden behind some false ceilings. To do the right way, false ceiling needs to be dismantle partially to enable dismantling n re-piping to take place, then rectify the false ceilings again. R u going to blame the contractor for tis extra costs? Whereby contractors usually had only a chance to glance through ur place to deliver ur quotes. Only after confirmation of contract, then they can look into detailings. Which contractor will spend days in ur hse to oversee these 'hidden costs' before contract??? (we r first timer, ID/contractor r "EXPERT" in reno, they should know what else we might need and advice in the first place, if not why should we look for them, u don go see doc and tell them u want what med right) 3) Select lower costs materials, and sometimes what you select is not what you get. May sure you follow them closely when you in the tiles factory/shop, or get the sales person to explain the tiles what is the different, how you tell. E.g. Laminated Flooring, supposed to be AC5 but they quietly install AC3 Well, all these materials is usually got from suppliers. Wad u chose is wad u get. If u dun trust ur contractors, then y engage them? U afraid of cheatings, black n white is always available before arrival of materials. (what he mean he didnt get what he selected, but as long as he can proof it is differ, can always report to CASE) 4) Get payment first and always requested you to pay first for that and this. Make sure, when go hardware/lightning shop, do not give them any money in advance. No Such thing to help you buy first. Felt not comfortable by placing minor cash wif contractors? U can do the payments or purchasing urself by making the trips to these shops. But r u prompt enuf to do all these? Wat if u delay the works indirectly? Well, ur contractor offers his service by helping u! (Alternative can pass check to ID/contractor instead 2 pay to the company. CASH is always a BIG NO NO. i'm one of the victim of this, currently ALL MY ITEMS still is not UP and all my cashs is with the ID and is a 5 digit sum. maybe that kind of money is minor to u, but not for a lot ppl here)

actually i heard from the boss it a common problem in this industury. Therefore it is important NOT to pay to any ID any CASH. Rather pay by check or nets or cash with receipt from the company.

yup, done that. He promise to return part of the $$ before 16 Dec(doubt that happen). Anyway, his boss sms me that he already made police report on this guy. Now only depend on us if we going to make the police report. It is only because he SAID he will return, and make his first return on 16 Dec, that why i hold on, and not be make the police report. What else can i do less make police report?

too long scare later PC hang all gone so submit first :) To Sum up, 15% down payment - Company 30% start work payment - HIM 15% progressing patment - HIM Haulage Service - HIM Electric Work - HIM Lightning + fan - HIM Plumping Work - HIM Painting Work - HIM Door - HIM False Ceiling & L-board - HIM Miscellanrous - HIM Aircon - HIM Total payment made to him, is already total sum of reno. Give me the schedule by 28 Nov 2008 will COMPLETE everything. After ceiling and electric work done, see no progress of his promise next item aircon to be up. Then his company called up check if we had made any payment to company for start work. Called him up, he said he run into some problem w his company but he will still try to complete my reno ASAP. Nothing is DONE, call him since nothing is done, i WANT TO CANCEL EVERYTHING from him less the ceiling which he did. He said ok, but need some time then can return the money back to me. Ask why since he ORDER nothing, DID nothing, no resaon. He write a undertaking stated that he will return money to us, if not we can take legal action against him. (truly i also don understand why i should take his undertaking since even he got write or no write i should be able to take legal action against him if i wan to). Ask for his address, keep saying he need to ask his landlord first. Any forumer got advice . . .

We Found a ID (R****) from ***** (guess a lot ppl will know who). During then he is friendly, give a lot of advice. Both of us feel comfortable 2 let him do the job. 1 - Go look for him for a final draft of contract. He prepared and we signed. Forgot what is stated in contract on payment breakdown. - Paid 10% deposit to his boss. - Paid Haulage service + Buy sand to HIM (when ask when need to pay sand, he said that is haulage service by the contractor onsite, he will help us check out, but pay him first, any balance he will return to us **a BIG NO NO for ALL**.) 2 - Meet up to select tile. KIV one of the tile, then he bring us to buy lightning(2k+) & toilet acc(2k), all over our budget, so tell him just KIV all of them our we do our own shopping. 3 - Meet up @ new house. Select Bedroom door, Kitchen Door, Windows * grill. Ask for 30% payment to pay to HIM, since he come down, it consider as start work, ask why not pay to his boss, he said he will pass to his company, well since we TRUSTED him, so we think it should be ok. (a BIG NO NO for all, should pay to company) 4 - Meet up again, he said he quote price wrongly, in order to save more $$ he need to pass 2 his own contractor to do. So he will remove some items from the contract and do it himself. Ask us to PAY to him direct again. Since pricing no change for us, we don might helping him. Items include - false ceiling - Painting - Plumping work - Doors - Miscellanrous work (NO NO again for ALL, like that, if anything spoil, ID company is not responsible for it) 5 - We already know wher and what electric pt we wanted, he SAID he will intro one. At first, told he if he intro and we pay direct to electric will be cheaper In the end, he ask us to pay through him again. 6 - He also intro Aircon to us, Price sky high compare to others. I told him that. He SAID he will remove his comission, so price reduce much cheaper, but still exp by $200 compare to the one 1 found. But since he know the aircon, easier for them to coord, so don mind the extra $200 as he mentioned their work skill is "GOOD". 7 - We found our lightning, tell his as the place he bring us too exp, so we intend to buy is @ another location. he said he know the boss, can get a cheaper price, again ASK us to pay through him. 8 - Wnidows & grill up, meet up again tell us need to pay him progressing payment (15%).
