  1. More of our purchases at Chan Huat... This is the ceiling lamp for our 2 bedrooms... There will be 2 of these with a ceiling fan in the middle... This is an extra purchase that the Mrs wanted... We got this as a "night lamp" for the children's bedroom... We didn't manage to take the pictures of the store-room lamp we got but it's kinda similiar to the toilet lamp, just the colour is in white... Pictures of our tiled house up next!!!
  2. It's been a long time and this update is very much delayed... We were caught up with the planning, shopping and searching without realising that our blog is not updated... So here we go with what we have done for the past 1 week... We went shopping for lights along Balestier Road last sunday (4th Oct) and ended up at the famous Chan Huat and these are our purchases... This will be our living room PLC lights... The one of the left will run the longer length of the living room while the smaller will run the shorter length... This is our MBR lights... This is the lamp we selcted for the 2 toilets... This is the kitchen ceiling lamp... Hope it flat enuff as the previous owner left the ceiling clothes hanger for us... Think this is a pretty common choice for kitchens as what the sales person told us... This ceiling lamp is by far the most expensive purchase... It's for the dry kitchen... It looks simple, clean and the angle os the 3 side lamps are adjustable... More updates coming right up!!!
  3. That's just the estimate... I'll only know this sunday when I go down to get it... The price is just for the fans... The installation charges are already spelt out in my renovation quote... Cannot remember off hand about the actual charges... There's a thread about this... You can find the company name and contacts there... I think quite a bit of members here have gotten theirs' done...
  4. Yeah... The lights from my previous place are also from them... There's a chance that we would just buy from them as we are not looking for designer stuff but just normal PLC and ceiling lights... Thanks... Pictures of our hunt coming soon...
  5. We are probably going to just walk up from Balestier and stop by some of the shops that has positive feedbacks. Will also take a look at Chan Huat...
  6. Thanks for the guide... Not too sure of the "market" price so must have some guide before I go down... Later tio robert jialat jialat also don't know...
  7. The forecast purchases for this weekend would be lightings, ceiling fans and ventilation fans. As of now we are still looking through the many threads to list down the recommended shops for us to go and see see. No fancy lights for us this time. Just PLC lights for the L Box in the living room and MBR. Ceiling lights for the kitchen and the 2 bedrooms. The ventilation fans would be for the 2 toilets. The ceiling fans would be for the living room and MBR. Now it seems like the budget is being stretched to its limit and we certainly hope that it doesn't burst. Anyone with good lobang and recommendations PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PM me. Kam siah kam siah...
  8. We managed to upload the pics of our half tiled house... Actually it's more of the kitchen so here goes... This is our kitchen as view from the living room... The tiled wall indicates the wet kitchen... The untiled portion is the dry kitchen... Here's the view of the tiled wall... This is where the sink is gonna be plus the cement wall that will "hide" our washing machine... Here's the behind view of the cement wall... More pictures to cone... Here's more pictures... This is our common toilet... The bigger opening is where the ventilation fan is going to be... Here's another viewing angle of the common toilet... Yes, the sewage pipe is IN the way... This may look like a storeroom but it's the MBR toilet... This is the last place that they will tile up... Here's another extra picture I took of the kitchen wall tile... That's all for now... The tiling works should be almost done by this weekend so please stay tuned for the latest updates and another barrage of pictures...
  9. I was using the National ceiling fan... Didn't really take care of it... Just some cleaning and that's it... No breakdowns, no problems...
  10. We have some more pictures of my half tiled house but seems like we're unable to upload it due to certain reasons... Will get it done as soon as possible... Stay tuned people!!!
  11. Rain shower? I would like that but the Mrs don't like... She say liao zui... But to take a shower with this kind of faucet is pure enjoyment...
  12. Very very nice kitchen... A very good mix of bright and dark colours...
  13. Went down to yet another very Renotalk recommended shop at Hougang St 21. Yes it's none other than Goh Ah Bee... More or less decided to get the Fujioh Inner Flame hob (FG 792 GL) at $310 and the hob (FX 900) at $350. Original plan is to get the Rinnai Inner Flame Hob (RB-2CG) but the price is double that of the Fujioh hob at $710. Got there and changed our mind because we concluded that the hood is just there to shield the cabinets and not really to absorb the fumes, thus we don't need such a good one. Moreover we can also save a bit of money here for something else. Saw the Tecnogas Slimline hood (TB98T S/S) and it's at $280 so we chose that. Total spending today is at $590. This weekend is the pictures of our half tiled house... Stay tuned!!!
  14. Just go there and see see nia hor... Maybe my price is higher because I went down with my contractor...
  15. Got my PM? Can go and have a look but also please look elsewhere...
  16. Oh yeah... This is the view from our living room... The view is great for now till the condo springs up in our face and blocks the view...
  17. Cheap and good... Pays off for doing my research in renotalk... Got so many kai siow to good and cheap places like Poh Joo and Goh Ah Bee...
  18. Last part of our "adventure"... After our very "satisfying" trip to Poh Joo, we headed down to Millenia Walk for the Brandt Oven. When we got there, we headed straight for their European Kitchen showroom. We were attended by their sales person who recommeded us to a Electrolux oven. We were apprehensive about it as we were pretty much fixed on the Brandt. Also the main concern is the price which is something we can afford. We looked around and saw the price on the Electrolux oven. The cheapest one is at $1699. But he brought us to the home applicances section and showed us this oven. Model is EOB31001X. The link is as follows : http://www.electrolux.com.sg/node38.aspx?p...10561,9664,9663 He explained the functions to us and we were really impressed. Displayed price is at $999 but "our price" is $900. We asked about the extended warranty which is at $145. He gave us a promotion price which is inclusive of the extended warranty at $999. We looked at each other and took the offer. We finally got the oven and the Mrs was looking forward to the all the baking. Indeed it was a very satisfying weekend for us... Next on the list... Fujioh hob and hood... That's coming up on the next update!!!
  19. Finally the date is set... Congrats and an end to your worries!!!
  20. Our adventure (cont'd) The next day we paid a visit to the very much talked about Poh Joo Hardware along Jalan Besar and the list above was very much reduced to just the WC cum basin sets and the taps. The rest of the stuff we just decided to get from Poh Joo as their prices was so much better. We also got 2 Joven instant water heaters (910 & 810). Was going to get 707 (Protek / Compact) but the price was a bit out of our budget. Will also be getting the kitchen cabinet pull-out roller racks but have to let my contractor measure first. The vanity wares from the first shop was also scrapped. We were able to get individual pieces from Poh Joo so that's what we did. We also got this kitchen basin which would have cost us $380 but now we bought it at $280. The total bill came up to be around $800 plus. We were very happy that we save quite a bit of money. Part 3 coming up...
  21. Last saturday we went to a hardware shop that recommended by my contractor. It's situated somewhere along Changi Road (cannot say where). We walked around, discussed, did some thinking, compared and finally decided to take the following : 1) 2 taps for the bathroom basins. 2) 1 tap for the kitchen basin. 3) 2 mirrors. 4) 2 sets of vanity ware. 5) 2 clothes rack. 6) 2 sets (WC and basin). 7) 1 kitchen basin. The estimated bill came up to be about $1.7k but this is just a quote subjected to confirmation. We went to Hafary to pick up the last mosaic piece for the common bathroom. The Mrs had some ideas and picked this out... The other choices... We have chosen the darker mosaics for the MBR and thus decided the lighter one will go to the common toilet... More of our "adventure" later...
  22. More pictures!!! This is our planned children's bedroom... This is our planned study room... This is our MBR and toilet... That's all for now!!!
