I hope the 3Ds will come soon too... What's the damage for the rented flat?
-
Will take some pictures of the house in it's original state, maybe over the next 2 weekends... The owner is in China so I don't know when I can go over.

Hello to all, Been reading up on the many many wonderful T-Blogs that I decided to start one of my own. I've not been someone who can start and end something like this. I'm more of a person who's goes by mood. I hope that I can start, document, show everyone the progress of my house and hopefully have a grand finale of the finished house. I've just went for my 1st appointment for my current flat. I'm in a sort of a fix. I sold my flat before buying 1 so tentatively I would have to put up at my brother in law's place while my wife stays at her mother's. My sale completion for my current flat is tentatively on the 8th or 9th of Sept so I've planned to move out of my house on the 7th. The 1st appointment for my Bedok Reservoir flat is on the 6th of Sept so that weekend will be rather exciting for me. After my 1st appointment at HDB, my wife and I went over to Extra Space (Eunos Link) to have a look at their storage space. We need to store my L shaped sofa, a king size dunlopillo frame, 1 fridge, 1 washing machine, 1 cabinet and some boxes (any kind soul have any boxes please please please PM me). Everything seems okie with the storage space so we went ahead with the booking. Paid a security deposit, administrative fees and 1 month rental on the spot which set us back about $890. We have hooked up with a ID that recommended by my wife's best friend. We went down to her place to have a look at his work and found that it's not bad. We brought him down to my future house to have a look last sunday and I posted the quotation for all to see. The feedback that most gave was that the quotation was too good to be true. This raised some suspicion in me as my wife and I thought that it's a bit too expensive. The last time we renovated my flat was 4 years ago so we are not really in the know of the current renovation "rates". I'll heed the advice by most to get an itemised quote from him. The last thing I want to to have to pay extra. So far we have gotten 2 things done for the new house. The first is to get the laminated flooring from Kronotex and after that, we got a Simmons matress from the show at Expo about 2 weeks ago. Right now I'm just waiting for the drawings from the ID and perhaps get somemore ideas from the ever helpful people in Renotalk. That's all for now. I'll post my floor plan tomorrow for all to see...

My flooring for the living room will be the original marble but need to get it polished after everything... I'm getting Kronotex laminated flooring for the bedrooms... Got it straight from Kronotex and not through the ID...

Heard of this brand but what's the price range? I'm currently using Panasonic and it has been serving me well. Was thinking of buying back the same brand but would consider others. Don't think I'll take up a storage heater. Would prefer something smaller.

Hello to all. Which brand of rocker switch did you go for? I went to Choo Chiang (Bendemeer) to inquire. There are 3 major brands they carry which are Clipsal, Legrand and MK. Was looking for the Legrand switches (coloured)and was told that the average prices are about $4+ each. Clipsal was the cheapest at around $1+ to $2+ but only available in white. MK (coloured) was the most expensive at $6+ each. I guess I'll go for Legrand but what brand did you choose? Did you go to Choo Chiang or any other place? PLease advise. Thanks.

A big thank you to all who have replied... I'll meet up with him and get an itemised quote like what everyone has suggested.

- This is a funny one. Keep seeing this woman (from my dining room window) popping out of the house and stealing water from the tap at the rubbish chute. Best thing is, while she fills the pail up, she'd hide from view, then quickly runs out to collect it before running off. To torture the poor woman (when I do see it), I'd rest on my window sill and look at her. I have this Lexus RX300 owner who openly "steals" water from the rubbish chute to wash his beloved SUV... I mean he parks his car there and uses the long hose to give his car a good wash... And on top of that, he takes his own sweet time to do it... As I went out for dinner on a saturday evening, he was about midway through... I returned an hour later and he was still there washing... I guess it's free water so might as well make the most of of it right? He can afford to buy a Lexus but can't afford to pay for water like everyone else?

I'm not sure of the market price so was thinking that it's a bit expensive.

Can Old Hdb Flat Have Aircon Compressors Installed?
typhoonz replied to tskoh's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Imagine HDB sending them a letter to restrict them to only 1 compressor per unit... Wonder what are they going to do... -
Cheap is okie but so far okie? Elmark? I didn't know that... How much was it? Flow rate also depends on your house right? I'm staying on the 25th floor and flow rate is so so. My neighbour who stays on the 10th told me that his flow rate is rather powerful. I would suppose so due to the gravity...

Can Old Hdb Flat Have Aircon Compressors Installed?
typhoonz replied to tskoh's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Don't think it's allowed. That's my plan for my new house but was told by my contractor that only 1 is allowed for flats that don't have air con ledges. -
My take is that you can switch to a new inverter system 2. Since your present system is giving you problems and after numerous servicings, it still be the same. With your daily usage of 8 hours, an inverter system would save you money in the long run.

Hi, interested to find out which water heater brand do you recommend? Saw the Panasonic (DH-3BB2S) and might be getting this. Haven't find out about the price yet though. Will be waiting for the rest of the electronics appliances to fill up my list then one shot I'll ask. Might be able to get a discount too...

Yup... Actually wanted to sell of my house first before committing but the owner dropped the COV part so had to quickly move in to secure the flat... Will get the contractor to give 2 proposed plan... 1 to include the homogenous floor tiles and 1 without... The floor area is about 150sqm (the owner bought up the corridor area)... Will do homogenous tiles for the 1st floor and laminated flooring for the rooms... -

Seems like my reno plan is rather similiar to your... So far I've asked 3 reno contractors and was quoted about $40k+ but it's all estimated as they have not surveyed my house. I'll be paying the deposit for an EM at Bedok Reservior this weekend. Where's your place?
