  1. It's your house - u have the absolute legal right to decline their offer of fumigation. However, pursuant to Section 21(1) of Control of Vectors and Pesticides Act (Chapter 59), the Director-General may, by notice in writing, require the owner or occupier of any premises, vessel or aircraft or any pond, well, pool or other body of water, to carry out the spraying or fogging thereof with any form of pesticide within the time specified in such notice. That fog is toxic anyway - it KILLS mosquitoes by aphyxiation, what less it will do to humans, dogs & babies. NEA officers have the power to enter premises, vessel or aircraft under Section 35(1) in order to make any survey, inspection or search or to execute any works authorised by this Act. After putting an official notice to the owner. Thus when NEA officials request to enter private premises to conduct inspections, access should be be given. It's an offence to deny access to NEA officers for them to conduct official duties when they have valid reasons & have reasonable grounds to suspect the premises is a breeding ground of mosquitoes or any other vector, such as rats or cockroaches.
  2. On some days, darkness descends early, for eg, dark clouds converging over Linear Green - that easily cast a gloom of darkness over Linear Green. Plusthe switching on of corridor lights, I believe, are time-based and not based on ambient lighting. So there will be occasions when the lights come on later than when needed by Linear Greeners.
  3. Summon NEA. Notify ECTC & HDB. Immediately. Water spots that breed mosquitoes can breed Aedes as well.
  4. That's excellent news! But not all sections are open right.... as with Shop N Save. NTUC incurs much higher running cost if it also opens its 2nd level. And who was the Linear Greener who postulates that the shop space, next to the lift serving the MSCP will be occupied by a supermarket? Check it out. It has become a HDB Tai Tai's haven. The prognosis, however, remains unchanged. Cessation of business due to bad location providing inadequate clientèle volume to even cover their fixed operating costs. That indeed is the 2nd greatest contributory factor. Washing basins & toilet bowls ought to be cleaned daily as they are an abundant & rich source of food. Not for humans' consumption though. The source of the pink stains is NOT the water, contrary to what some simple minds, those from PUB included, intuitively but erroneously conjecture. Learn two new words everyday. Start with Serratia marcescens. The best solution to this problem is to continually clean the involved surfaces to keep them free from Serratia marcescens. Cleaning solutions that produces chlorine upon chemical reaction work best, but keep in mind that abrasive cleaners may scratch fixtures, making them more susceptible to growth of Serratia marcescens & other members of this large group of unicellular micro-organisms. Chlorine bleach can be used periodically to disinfect the toilet and help to eliminate the occurrence of the pink residue. An easy way to do this is to stir three to five tablespoons of fresh bleach to the toilet tank, flush the toilet to allow the bowl to be disinfected, and add another dose of bleach to the tank as it is refilling. Use of a toilet cake that contains a disinfectant can keep residual disinfectant present in the toilet bowl at all times. By keeping basins & sinks wiped down and dry, the formation of pink residue can be avoided. Cleaning these surfaces with a solution that contains chlorine will also help to minimize the occurrence of pink residue. In essence, kill the pink bastards. Is there any area of security in Linear Green you might be concerned of? It's a HDB precinct which basically makes Linear Green accessible by anyone, including:- stray cats which are really the least of the concerns.vagrants who are spotted to be sleeping on the parapet that lines the void deck or the marble/stone benches that pepper the Linear Garden which runs between the two long Linear Green blocksmotor vehicles parked illegally in the void decks & along the already narrow to begin with service road that goes around Linear Green.Be warned: ECTC will be summoned to issue illegal parking summons to these wretched vehicles.
  5. Hmmm? Your unit took 1 year to complete renovation??

  13. Within the 1 year defect liability period, it is. The DLP is effective from the date of sale. During the one-year DLP, HDB will rectify defects in the flat reported by the flat owner. Please note that defects arising from the flat owner's renovation works or usage are not covered by the DLP. Related news on TCMR Some town councils have said there are households who owe more than three to five years of HDB service and conservancy (S&C) charges. This follows the National Development Ministry's announcement that it will use S&C arrears management as an indicator for the town council framework report. It said this is because there are currently no penalties for not paying the S&C charges. Town councils said they have requested HDB to withhold parking labels of debtors until they have paid up. = Some can afford to drive car & don't wish to pay S&C fees. They added that debtors will have their S&C fees deducted from their Community Care Grants. Yishun Central said a large portion of debtors deliberately default on payment. They currently face S&C arrears of close to S$10,000. Over 1,200 households in Aljunied owe more than three months of S&C charges. Town Councils said the report does put pressure on them to perform. But they will look into individual household problems and render support, if needed. Ho Geok Choo, MP, West Coast GRC, said: "I support the fact that for hardcore cases, we have to be very stringent about it. We can then better manage the number of bad debt cases. Because if you really help the genuine cases and you tackle the hardcore cases, you actually can bring down the numbers.
  14. Do post this on Linear Green Group in FaceBook where more Linear Greeners & Linear Green RC can read.
  15. Any Linear Greeners encountered mosquitoes in their residences?
  16. TCMR Framework is released by Ministry of National Development. The TCMR framework will cover four key areas – cleanliness of estate, estate maintenance, lift performance and service & conservancy charges (S&CC) arrears management – with six indicators. (a) Average Number of Cleanliness Defects per Block; (b) Average Number of Maintenance Defects per Block; © Lift Breakdown Rate per 10 lifts per month; (d) Lift Automatic Rescue Device (ARD) Failure Rate per month; (e) Proportion of residential accounts with S&CC overdue by 3 months or more; & (f) Proportion of residential S&CC amount overdue by 3 months or more (out of total monthly S&CC collectible) These indicators will be reported individually and the results will be released in five banded levels (Levels 1 to 5). The TCMR indicative bandings, together with a sample TCMR format, are shown in Annexes A1 and A2. How inspections will be done From next month, Housing Board officers will inspect estates under town councils to assess cleanliness and maintenance levels. Every block that is not undergoing upgrading will be inspected at least once a year. Here is how it will work:An inspector will be assigned to a block on the morning of an inspection. He will be rotated so that, during the course of his work, he covers blocks managed by different councils. Councils will only know of the inspection on the day an inspector turns up. Council staff will be invited to accompany him during the inspection. Inspectors will use a checklist of areas to inspect. They will visit every floor, and take photos as evidence. Inspection reports will be sent to town councils the next working day. Councils can appeal against findings in the report. An appeals panel comprising four HDB officers will evaluate the case.

  22. Issued by: Ministry of National Development Oral Answer by Ministry of National Development on the posting of paper notices in HDB estates 19 AUGUST 2009 Question No. 110 Question by: Ms Ellen Lee Geck Hoon Ms Ellen Lee Geck Hoon asked the Minister for National Development: What action is being taken to eradicate the problem of posting of paper notices at void decks, lift landings and common properties in HDB estates;Whether such postings constitute an offence and, if so, under which statute; What actions can be taken against these offenders; andWhether there were any prosecutions of such offenders in the past two years and what were the sentences, if any, meted out to them. Answer Town Councils maintain the common property, including void decks and lift landings, in HDB housing estates. It is an offence under the Town Councils’ Common Property and Open Spaces By-Laws to post paper notices on common property without prior written approval from the Town Council. The offence carries a maximum penalty of $5,000. Town Councils can compound such an offence, in lieu of prosecution, by collecting a composition sum not exceeding $1,000 from the offender (Section 49 of the Town Councils Act).If a Town Council comes across an illegally posted paper notice that bears an address or contact number, the Town Council will normally contact the offender and advise the offender against such acts. Should the offence persist, the Town Council would proceed to serve an offence notice to the offender.Generally, offenders would heed the advice of the Town Councils. Therefore, none of the Town Councils have prosecuted such offences in the past two years. Dear Linear Greeners, please look out for all unauthorised notices glued to public areas such as, but not limited to, the aluminium side panels of the lifts, letterboxes, pillars & walls in Linear Green. You have the right to remove such notices & dispose them in the big friendly green trash bins. After which, report the numbers on the notices immediately to ECTC @ 1800 4449549 to have ECTC contact them to stop their paper pollution of our Linear Green. Keep It Clean Keep It Green
  23. If the owner/occupiers of Blk 219C, #17-120 are reading this........ You have been warned to cease & desist Teach your Indon maid NOT to hang your dirty laundry over the windows of your living room & 1st bedroom. And certainly NOT next to my NATIONAL FLAG! You may be able to afford the low cost of hiring a maid from a 3rd world country, but you certainly do not possess the brain nor decency to teach her. I suppose with your 3rd world mentality & mindset, it's no wonder that your maid is of the same mentality & mindset. We may be tiny, we may be young but we categorically do not allow nor condone actions by anyone, especially foreigners who dishonour our motherland's dignity, pride & prose. The use and display of my country's flag is governed by Part III of the Singapore Arms and Flag and National Anthem Rules made under the Singapore Arms and Flag and National Anthem Act. It is an offence to knowingly contravene specified provisions of the Singapore Arms and Flag and National Anthem Rules; the penalty is a fine not exceeding S$1,000.
  24. Oh u mean the one along Aida Steet, which can be clearly seen in Google Maps. It's right behind the often vandalised Opera Estate signage. I believe this one is not caged, unlike the one at Bedok South side.
  25. Frasers Centrepoint Trust in its 3rd Quarter FY09 Investor Presentation released on 23 July 2009, estimates Bedok Mall to have a catchment population of 129,100 with its 81,000 sq ft of NLA.
