The recommended way to proceed with collective purchases can be as follows: KSF: Success rate of collective purchase requires & depends on the efforts expended by each & every participant. Gather genuine buyers committed to the collective purchase exercise. This will largely be based on the preferred date of purchase as I doubt the ability of dealers to accommodate different delivery dates.Exchange contact details, such as ICQ/MSN/YIM/GTalk and/or email. Each participant obtain pricing from their selected or preferred dealers on one unit of purchase, and subsequently press for better pricing on the quantity indicated by the number of buyers in Step 1. For certain items such as aircon, kitchen cabinets, quality of workmanship at the installation stage is paramount. Obtaining of price & product + services info can also be done in groups who are able to meet on weekends at a particular retailer/dealer/contractor.Meet up in person for further discussion with participants bringing the pricing info & product range for comparison.I believe the above is an equitable way of distribution of the cost of time & efforts on the network. And I welcome any contribution of ideas how to improve this collective purchase effort for the network: Linear Green Network [LGN] So u intend to huddle at the opposite corner for viewing pleasure?

For my unit, we opted for the basic furnishing package by HDB at a cost of $3000 + $1200 to:Lay the floor tiles for the entire unit: living room, bedrooms, kitchen, shower rooms/toilets and wall tiles in the last 2 rooms.Install doors to each room. Now I'm compiling a list of things to buy & install. I'm not engaging ID but getting different contractors for the different requirements. Who wants to purchase kitchen cabinets with Rinnai hoods & hobs & ceramic sink + taps? Daikin aircons? ? Nippon Paint & painting equipment? (paying PRCs to paint) The objective is to obtain better pricing with greater buying volume. Send me a private message.

If directly facing main road & MRT track.... it's unless you are used to passing MRT noises from 5:30 am till 12:30 am. THICK curtains is the key to insulate noise. And it must also reflect light & heat out.

Nothing beats seeing the tiles with your very own eyes. Visit Block 219A/B on weekends and you will definitely be accosted by contractors waiting for flat owners at the ground floor to the flats which they are contracted to and have completed renovation for. I've done preliminary inspection today and with just 2 pairs of eyes discovered MANY, MANY defects & faults. So my advice is engage relatives and/or friends with eagle eyes & perform multiple detailed inspections - the costs is just a good meal for the inspectors.

Charging GST Only GST-registered businesses are allowed to collect GST. Click here to check whether a particular business is registered for GST. Always ensure that the prevailing GST rate is being charged to you. Click here to check the prevailing rate. Ensure that you are billed correctly. Generally, the price that is displayed should be the final price that you are paying. Click here for a guide. However, note that Hotels and the Food & Beverage industry are allowed to display GST exclusive prices if they charge service charge. Always check that the GST amount is calculated correctly. Prices advertised All prices stated on the advertisements should be inclusive of GST. The following clauses are not acceptable: "Prices stated are subject to GST" "Prices stated are exclusive of GST" "Prices stated are before GST" Shoppers When shopping, note that the final price displayed should be the amount that is inclusive of GST e.g. $107 instead of $100+. Buying services When buying services such as spa/facial packages, note that the final price that is being offered to you should be inclusive of GST. Dining at restaurants Service Charge: When you dine at restaurants, GST is charged on the sum of price of the food/beverage and 10% service charge. This is because GST is a tax on the final value of any good or service consumed in Singapore and service charge is part of the price payable for the consumption of goods and services. Display of GST-exclusive price: Due to operational difficulties in displaying GST-inclusive prices because of the imposition of service charge, an administrative concession on price display was granted to hotels, restaurants and public houses. Thus, restaurants are allowed to display GST-exclusive prices for all goods (including delivery/takeaway items) and services. However, restaurants must have a clear statement on their price display to show customers that prices are subject to service charge and GST. Do look out for it. Click here to know more. Know your consumer rights. IRAS trumps all businesses. GST Hotline: 1800 356 8633

Most residents would relegate the bomb shelter to be used as a store room for storage of all the leftover paints, tools & whatever that we don't wish to see around daily. Thus sealing the metal plate into its closed position may not do good for the room in the long run - still air actually aids the production of fumes & bad smells. I think the optimal solution to this issue is seal in the metal plate but circulate the air in the bomb shelter regularly. Yes, it's more work but hey aesthetics does not come without labour. Talking about paints: Which is better in terms of costs, durability & ability to cover cracks: ICI or Nippon?
-
I like the idea of wallpaper but I am not sure whether it is a good idea to plaster them in areas where there are agents of corrosion such as water, heat & cooking fumes. Still undecided on the bomb shelter door, mostly likely paint it same colour as the kitchen if that is allowed. But I'm still at ICI vs Nippon Paint stage! I'm looking at air-cons so wondering how I can save the generated table into Excel so I can do an cost effectivess & efficiency number crunch. Ok I've managed to export the table into Excel, but I can't seem to divide Cooling Capacity by Full/Partial Load Energy Cost..... And here's a checklist for proper installation of air-conditioning system. And this is a really good blog on the dos & donts of everything u wanna know about aircon.

The Bedok Mall is only 4 storeys high & with a NLA of only 80,000 sq ft, it is gonna be small, just slightly bigger than Anchorpoint Shopping Centre which has a total retail floor area of 108,072 square feet, and NLA of 71,000 sq ft.

Yea, that's the 1st thing that comes to my mind. However, the clock in my current place is squarish & runs on electric power, not battery. It's a National clock since 1974 or longer I think. So yea, we're re-using whatever is working. As for wallpapering the bomb shelter door, refer to HDB regulations bah? But wouldn't the wallpaper be stained with cooking fumes? Unless u don't intend to cook or u intend to clean the wallpaper every time after cooking.

I ain't gonna take that design wrong. Esp when the correct placement is such a simple logical one. For those doing reno, this wrong placement doesn't matter as they're changing the layout and wiring. What do u do with the protuding round ventiliation metal plate jutting out from the bomb shelter?
-
All I can say is please be prepared for the loud (subjective) churning noise of passing MRT trains. And sometimes, they coincide! DOUBLE whammy! Here are the MRT timings of the first & last train arriving at Bedok MRT: Monday to Saturday 0538 HRS Last Train daily 0024 HRS. I'm looking at ways to insulate my bedroom against the noise..... Doesn't help that I'm a nOOb at home furnishing & reno.

Actually it is very easy & simple to obtain a map showing the location of your block. Heh, I am no advocate of spoon-feeding: There is no free spoon in this world. On the 2nd visit, I saw the adjacent unit is under renov and the diagonal opposite unit has more or less complete the process of moving in. As for the wrong placement, that's just my opinion. It might not be wrong to other residents, but I regard it as a design WRONG. HDB has yet to respond to my email last Friday so just wait lor. Has anyone in the above list collected keys to their unit?

One Blk 219A resident here in a 4 room 97 m². Collected the keys last week. Been to the flat twice. Yet to perform a detailed inspection. Already experience the sheer noise from the passing MRT and the main road. Currently staying in a very quiet block in Bedok South so don't look forward at all to more noise & dust from the impending construction of Bedok Mall & the air-con Bedok Interchange. Shot a stinging email last week to HDB on the wrong placement of TV point & phone socket.
