Finally, I am seeing the completion of defects rectification on this Saturday! Hopefully! The BSC TO has hinted that the BSC might extend its operation till the end of the year. Anyone visiting his/her unit can take photos of the air-con window? I wish to ascertain if the glass is supposed to be clear or frosted?

Nicey! Thanks mel for the pics of the back.

Indeed, the overriding concern against mounting the Rinnai REU-8 CG Gas Water Heater in the bathroom is the risk of gas poisoning in the event of a gas leak. The low ceiling of the bathroom coupled with the cramped 1600 mm x 2600 mm floor area compound the risk. Is City Gas safe? City Gas is safe. Gas supplied by City Gas comprises of properties that is lighter than air therefore it dissipates into the atmosphere in the event if there is a gas leak. With good ventilation in most kitchens, City Gas is safe for usage. Unlike City Gas, the properties for bottled gas are heavier than air and will sink and accumulate at ground level when there is a leakage from the bottle.

From what I gathered, Ideal House ID has David, Kenneth, Melvin, Johnny, Peter, Steven and Max. Would u PM me the contacts of the IDs you've got? Thank you! -
The view from my MBR has sound effects! From the passing MRT trains! Not that high, just reasonably. Yea, I think it's higher than yours but lower than Bubbly's. And yes, we can see each other from the windows.

Does the Rinnai showroom or any Rinnai dealer have product demonstrations of their hobs & hoods at their retail premises? I need to observe them in action & compare with Fujioh inner flame burner & hood to finalise my selection. Anyone visited Poh Joo at Jalan Besar?

Now on to the main event: The optimal placement position of the Rinnai REU-8 CG Gas Water Heater, that I can come up with is in the Bathroom 2. The gas pipe will run from the source along the length of the 3300 mm wide kitchen wall (an T extension will run the gas pipe down to the hob) to the top edge of the bifold door to the service yard, then through a hole drilled through the frame of the bifold door and turn towards the ventilation window of Bathroom 2. Be warned that drilling through the aluminium bronze frame affects its structural integrity. NOTE: After a review of the floor plan, this alternative routing described below is not possible because the wall chosen to be drilled is a supporting wall which is not to be drilled. Thus it's back to the routing above. An alternative routing can done which, in my view, is slightly better: The gas pipe exits the kitchen through above the top ventilation pane, turns and go through the wall and snakes towards the ventilation window of Bathroom 2. Drilling is still required but at least it goes through a wall instead of the frame of the bifold door. Drilled holes through wall can be plastered but drilling through aluminium bronze affects its structural integrity. This is not the end of the problem. The gas pipe layer has to figure out how to connect the gas pipe plus the cold water inlet and hot water outlet to the gas water heater as the gas inlet, cold water inlet and hot water outlet are all located at the base of the gas water heater. In summary, no drilling can be avoided if one were to opt for this gas water heater. Unless someone can figure out how to run a gas pipe through this white trunking plate reserved by the electricity source wire for electric water heater.

The BSC is part of China Construction who will hand over the development to HDB on 16th July so after this date, any defects reporting have to be submitted to HDB Bedok Branch which, I believe, will take longer than BSC to respond. I'm not sure if we can buy the tiles used in the premium finishing after July 16th. herbman, perhaps you would like to reflect the difficulties you face in placing the gas water heater to HDB Building Technology Department, Technology Development Section and City Gas. 6586 8854 should connect you to City Gas Mechanical Engineers. This is yet another example of the work done by Surbana International Consultants. The architect is named in the bottom right spot of the electrical service drawing. Seems like he is not updated on certain issues as recent as Dec 2007. On another note, the thing about us Singaporeans is that we complain but we should bring the issues up to the parties responsible, ie, the relevant dept or unit. Admit that it requires time & effort but I believe it is the right thing to do. But now, you can lodge reports to NEA, NParks, PUB, AVA, LTA, SCDF, MOM, SPF, ICA, HDB and BCA at one website called the ORC! ORC is an electronic reporting service for members of the public to lodge reports to government agencies, without having to know which agency is in-charge of a particular issue. Currently, 11 agencies are participating in the ORC. They are NEA, NParks, PUB, AVA, LTA, SCDF, MOM, SPF, ICA, HDB and BCA. Currently, contributors can submit their incident report to the above agencies via the following 3-step process: Step 1 Select any of the category: -Environment -Housing Maintenance -Immigration Offender/Illegal employment/Foreign worker housing issues and then select a Sub-category Step 2 To submit report, you need to fill in the following details: -Location of Occurrence -Date & Time of Occurrence -Contact details (Name, NRIC, Address, Email/Fax; and Contact number) Step 3 Click to submit Report The above are just a brief 3-steps guide on how one could use the ORC to file a report. You may wish to visit the ORC at http://app.orc.gov.sg/Home.aspx or refer to the user manual for more details: http://app.orc.gov.sg/Doc/ORCUserManual.pdf The online survey form is as attached. Please note that the survey will close on 23 June 2008, Monday. http://app.reach.gov.sg/olcp/asp/opo/opo00...rveyId=1382

My unit is a 4 room version. And your kitchen looks similar! Mine is short of the free gas water heater sticker though. The workers who rectified the cement splatter on the exterior ledge from the master bedroom inadvertently damaged the sliding windows at two spots. Sigh.... report one defect to get it rectified and incur another. Moreoever, they patched up the wall next to the bedroom 2 door, on which I don't remember reporting any defect. It's another trip to the BSC tomorrow. People, remember they cease their operations on the development handover date 16th July 2008.

I think anyone would need photos to have a full & complete picture of the routing issue described by herbman; it is virtually impossible to visualise the issues without photos or on-site observation. This, we have to trouble herbman. In summary, upside of gas heater/dryer are they're cheaper to use than electric powered versions. Current City Gas tariff is 19.34¢ per kWh vs current electricity tariff of 23.88¢ per kWh - that's a 15.47% difference. The downside is the placement of the water heater and the ugly gas pipes running. Perhaps stainless pipes may alleviate the aesthetic aspect but they cost more than copper pipes. Painting the pipes might help too.
