Seems like our Linear Green is rather popular - there are now more than human residents living in this development.... I spotted a Norway Rat scurrying around the refuse collection point of Blk 220B while on my way to Bedok Stadium this morning at 8+ am.

Just a suggestion to improve the usefulness & comparativity of info & pricing provided by LGers: As the design/layout differs for the same room type, for eg, there are different versions of 4 room units, do add in your unit size with the expenditure item, either in your signature or in the post itself, as the space of your unit/room dictates the size of furnishing/renovation works which dictates their costing. This will greatly aid users in making a comparable costing analysis. For the record, mine is a 4 room, the 97 m² version. Live-in tip: Paint the foot of the master toilet door frame that faces the basin with water-proof paint - Mine is leeching iron oxide coz there is no shower screen.

I paid $190 for a storage rack consisting plywood base & vertical iron supports in the household shelter. RANT: Some bloody moronic imbecile at Blk 219A #11-12 freaking drilling at this HOUR! Shot a stern letter of complaint against the owner to HDB.

Call Colorland Paint Centre Pte Ltd Blk 202 Bedok Nth St 1 #01-487 Singapore 460202 Tel : 6443 0523 Source: www.YellowPages.com.sg Lacquering your doors ah? Nice. I've seen one unit with lacquered doors = SWEE!

Power J Trading: Their prices of paint & paint products might be worth comparing. As for painter, ask for Ah Huat's number. He painted my place and passed my QoS on speed, cost & paintmanship. Caveat Emptor.

So your okto channel is ok to watch? No wavy lines?

The drainage cover of my Rubine stainless steel sink model JUX-610 is BADLY designed - it does not fit snugly into the drainage hole. Rice & small debris gets trapped at the rim of the cover and they slip down the drainage hole when you remove the cover to discard the debris. Bad design.

Linear Greeners, tune your TV to receive the new okto channel and if you see wavy lines on screen, it means your TV is leeching signal from the aerial antenna & not from Starhub's HFC network. The other possibility is Starhub is NOT broadcasting okto frequency signal through their HFC network. Anyone using MaxOnline in their LG units currently?

Less cars on those narrow lanes are good! Safer, smoother & less pollution for LG residents. If there's no car park nearby, parking on these narrow lanes can still be talked over. There are 2 car parks & another 2 across the street, so those car owners still wanna park on those narrow lanes, of course CAN! Pay $70.

Those who want a good laugh can read page 4 of the current issue East Coast Town Council newsletter, East Coast News. Hint: It's the captions.

Those who advise against are those who have no idea how to do it. Some contractors are so lagging in current home renovation trends & technology, they can move their services to Sungei Road

Thanky Fred! How's the progress on ya reno?

Can someone in the know share their expenditure on glass backing for their kitchen below their hood & behind their hob? And its dimensions: length by width. And what are the range of price quotations for installation of hood? Anyone in the know on these? Thank u! Thank u!

Incorporating the QoS required into the renovation contract is oh so important. Legal avenue is probably the most robust recourse that home owners have against errant, unscrupulous or sheer incompetent contractors. Any1 did glass backing for their kitchen below their hood & behind their hob? Can share their expenditure on this renovation item? Plus its dimensions: length by width. And also the range of price quotations for installation of hood? Anyone in the know on these?

Lovely glass backing! May I know the dimensions of the tempered glass backing? Its length by width. Any1 knows the range of price quotations for installation of hood?

Check your TV's display of the okto channel: If there are wavy lines on the screen, it means your TV is leeching signal from the aerial antenna, & not from Starhub coaxial network, which means Starhub has not turned on the signal for your block.
-
Is the Starhub CSO telling you the truth or he doesn't know better himself? Starhub says 220A has CableTV Signal & MaxOnline / Digital Voice Signal However, it is also stated that a positive search result does not indicate eligibility for service. Sheesh, then WTF is the site for? It means Starhub is refusing to turn the signal to the individual units. The issue is why Starhub is not turning on signal for the entire block? Because HDB isn't talking to Starhub. So currently, all TVs in Linear Green are leeching the signal from the aerial antenna. Can write in to IDA or MDA to compel Starhub to turn on the signal.

Eh...... tot u are on holiday in overseas?! I think our water is rather cold leh. That's why the SWH doesn't work as well as it should.. Joven claims its SWH takes 20 mins to heat 25L of water from 27°C to 65°C. Here lies the issue: How cold is the cold water in our Linear Purple units. Is the water from your tap cold? I believe it's more like 18°C - 20°C. Thus, it takes far more than 20 mins to heat up the entire barrel of 20°C water! Orh, now must re-learn some new habits: old dogs learn new habits = difficult leh. I think I will do some cleaning while the SWH gets hawt. Btw, how do u clean your floor tiles and keep them clean? My soles are darkened by soot/dirt/whatever by the time I walked to my bedroom from the main door. Really wonder where the soot comes from?! Must be from the vehicles......

Take a good look at the red, blue & black tapes adhered on the wall tiles. The clue is glaringly obvious. It'd be good that flat owners probe & ask all the ground workers who performs the installation of fittings & fixtures. It's a good chance to learn & pick very useful DIY home maintenance tips and their relative costings info from them. Will come in useful in the future!

Going for IWH is the right choice: saves electricity, saves water. Unless, there are two or more persons showering with hot water at the same time and you want to wash your hands in hot water, perhaps SWH might save u some money. Here's a funny episode of my post-moving experience: After living in my new place for more than a month, I feel a sense of déjà vu! Then it hit me - I have experienced & lived in this environment before...... Twelve years ago! The floor tiles, the layout, even the close proximity of the opposite units all have a very familiar feel to them. Woah, did SIC recycle an ancient design & chose similar material to build Linear Green?!?! And from the most ulu, 鸟不生蛋 places of all: Jalan Bahar Jungle School! And those buildings were likely to be built in 1993! Even the colour of facade & interior is strikingly similar = no wonder I felt I was like living on campus.....again! Oh well, maybe my mind is exhausted from all the moving, cleaning & more cleaning, hence it's going mental. U know how some experience PTSD sometimes...... Yes, moving out from old place to new place can be traumatic. It's a bloody nightmare! And I live to tell the tale here.

I am used to instant water heaters = Switch power on, go into bathroom, turn on water heater, turn water knob, I get to enjoy hot shower. And now, I switch on power, it's waiting waiting waiting waiting, turn on tap, still COLD water!
-
Interesting..... seems like we have a Linear Greener who works in HDB. For those thinking of installing water heaters, let me just say I would change my current choice of water heaters if I can, to 2 x instant water heaters. Storage water heaters takes too long to heat up & uses much more electricity than IWH. And I can't, so it's $300 [sWH] not well-spent vs 2 x $150 well-spent.

Maybe your unit is blessed with good workmanship. Did u use the defects checklist? And how many rounds of inspections have u conducted in each area?

And so it is proven: Once advertising is introduced, prices of merchandise goes up! Case in point: LG Aircon Non-Inverter System 3 - Price before TVC $1599, Price with TVC $1699!
