  1. Very nice indeed! Wonder how much u spent on your reno for such a theme cos every piece & part of the reno looks good!
  2. Hi mitlancer71 ur layout similar to Tsubame? Make me curious to see ur 3d drawings leh. We meeting Lynn later to discuss about some of the amendments we need her to make. Where is your new place, btw?
  3. Hi HanJin are u going to revamp the whole place? Ya, pretty move-in i would say.
  4. Hi Hanjin u juz got married rite. When u have your own little darlings, u will be grateful that your inlaws are staying nearby. For my case, currently staying @ AMK, though not far from TPY but the prob is i work late shifts and i regret a little that i did not insist in buying a flat @ TPY 4 yrs ago.
  5. Hi then near my place at Lor 8 lor. Ya, we oso bot TPY cos near my inlaws. In fact, my future block juz diagonally opp theirs. For the sake of my little darling, no choice lah. However, i do like TPY very much cos very convenient. Hope to see more pics when your reno kick start. Nice to see new TPY residents around. Good luck to your reno.
  6. Hi Han Jin congrats on the collection of your keys. I will be a future TPY resident too, have bot our resale flat @ Lor 8. Where is your new pl? Saw that your valuation quite high at 530K muz be near the central rite? Hee, who's ur ID and when is your expected date of reno completion?
  7. Hi Galsmommy i kpo to see your 3D drawings in your blog. Nicely drawn! So i guess u are doing lots of carpentry work and tat's explain y the 50K quotes?
  8. Hi Kari, how big is your wardrobe? Many of us dun have the luxury of a giantic wardrobe. Nice! saw ur big aircon trunking, which bedroom is this?
  9. Maybe we are chin chai wif her so she so chin chai wif us. Anyway, for me its still a long way to go as my reno will only start in July. I do hope that we will have a smooth reno wif her.
  10. Hi Pete based on trust? Maybe all IDs work differently. We saw our first sets of 3D drawings based on our ID's intuition. We met her last week to discuss on the changes and were asked to select laminates, colours of solid tops, designs of our PD doors, main gate and window grilles. We will meet again this weekend to see the revised 3D drawings based on the laminates that we have chosen to see whether the outcome is to our liking. Btw, we have not paid a single cent to her for all these work she had done. We will only pay her the 1st 10% once her final quote is out.
  11. Hi Pete ours will have to wait for at least 3 weeks . Meanwhile, we have decided to do 'research' on the things that we need to buy eg. furniture, hood and hob. Keep us updated when u see the revised drawings. All the best!
  12. Hi Pete from what i guessed after gathered all useful info provided by the forumers here. Its normal for u to change the drawings a few times until you are satisfied with the final ones. Since JS is your ID, u and your wife can sit down to discuss wif him again until you are fully satisfied. Juz keep reminding him about the few pointers JS muz note down and put the requirements in his drawings. In our case, it is my hb who keeps going back to our ID for advises, ideas etc. When we saw the initial perspective (not 3D) drawings, we are quite glad that she note our requirements down. Hope you can clear all unhappiness and being on your new exciting reno journey .
  13. Hi Tsubame mine is a resale 5-rm @ TPY. Like u, we also have a tight schedule for her cos we est our 1st appt will be in May and 2nd appt will be in end-Jun. However, as we are a case of buy-and-sell, we can only give her the most 6 weeks of reno so tat me and my buyer can avoid moving in during the 7th month. Have u seen your 3D drawings? Hi Pete i think once u signed, u can expect the drawings to be out within 2-3 weeks. However, for our case, Lynn asked us for more time as she is currently having a few projects alongside. Since our reno will start in Jul, we happily agreed.
  14. Hi Tsubame we can shake our hands . We have signed up with Lynn last Sat too. I think she made the most effort in coming back to us even b4 we signed with her. We had really made her worked very hard cos each time we think of new ideas, we asked her for advises and possible designs. She came back to us without complaints even if it was late night. We should be going back in 3 weeks' time to see the 3D drawings. Excited about it! Where is your new place to be? Sorry, i think i missed it if you have mentioned it b4. Old liao
  15. Hi came across many brands like Brandt, Bellari, Rinnai, Turbo etc etc in this forum. Came across Electrolux's website and saw their hob and hood selections. Quite nice. I am currently using their washer and i kind of like it. Anyone using their hood and hob? Any comments?
  16. Though this thread stopped after last post in Dec, thought i just continue to post some of my thoughts after meeting Ray at the TIP. Young looking chap. B4 we sat down to discuss about our requirements, he brought us around to see his showroom. Only one word - WOW ! After we sat down to discuss, we felt that he is very creative in his design. Ya, he did some homework b4 our meeting. He showed us a perspective drawing on our floorplan, another thumbs up for him . His quotes were on the high side as expected, however, were not too far off with the other IDs we have met so far. We are now waiting for his amended quotes after our 1st discussion. Another potential firm for us to consider.
  17. We met Lynn at their Serangoon showroom yesterday. We were surprised that we could click so well. Overall, we felt that she is someone that you can talk openly. She is open to suggestions and not impose you die-die have to listen to her. I think in reno, 2-way communication is very important and she stressed that back to us too. She came out with some reno ideas that we think is useful based on our requirements. Her quotes are the most reasonable as they are having some kind of promotion now. We dun have to make too many sacrifices. We are still waiting for somemore quotes from some other ID firms, we wll keep our view open. However, Ideal House is definitely on our potential list as at now.
  18. We went to meet Sam at their Paya Lebar Showroom yesterday. We have to give credit for him to produce 2 3D drawings - 1 for the kitchen and 1 for the living area . However, we were disappointed to see the designs as we felt that it is too simple and could be done by any novice ID. The quotes were on the high side too but this we cant blame him becos of our requirements. If we were to use them, most probably we have to drop a lot of things - no feature wall, no changing to current wrought iron gate etc . He did not seem too keen to serve us yesterday. Most probably is because we told him we will consider further b4 making a decision. Most probably will have to drop them.
  19. We have not signed up yet. That's what Mr Sam said. I think he will only draw a rough sketch on our floorplan to let us have a brief idea of his designs/ideas. Think tat is enuff for us as we are open to reno ideas at this stage.
  20. Hi we met Sam from U-Home yesterday. We felt honoured as he is one of the directors of the firm. First impression, very experienced guy and able to give good advices. Their quotations for resale packages very reasonable and the best part they cover most of our requirements. We only have to add on a few carpentry work. Saw their showroom, very impressive! I think now they have promo. If you are sourcing for IDs, i think no harm talking to them as they are very highly recommended in another forum. Now we are waiting for their quotes and perspective drawings. Looking forward to hear from them soon!
  21. Hi my hb emailed our floor plan to Ideal House and Lynn was the one who replied. We met her yesterday. Our first impression wass she is very polite and nice to talk to. However, she seems new but she has lot of praises to say about her co. workmanship which we have no doubt with as many forumers are using them as ID. Now we are waiting for perspective drawings and quotes. Hopefully all turn well.
  22. Hi Bakebean wow, muz agree u have great taste in choosing the furnitures. I am oso interested to know where u bot the dinning sets and how much u pay for them? Thanks in adv.
  23. Hi Mr Chong wanted to ask you question on a switch on my career. Currently working shift work and often when i off duty is already 10pm. I am taking care of my son at night after work. I am thinking of switching career this year as my son has started playgroup and i find that i need more tiime to be with him. I do not mind a cut in my salary as long as it is reasonable to keep a living. Is it advisable in view of the current recessions? Sigh! Thanks pbtgal
  24. Hi After months of searching our new home, we finally gotten 1 just a week ago. Now waiting for all paper work to be done and we expected to shift in another 6 months or so. I have seen some forumers install very nice bamboo curtains (i like the flowery designs the most). I am thinking of installing them in my new home for the 3 bedrooms. Any forumers can tell me where you bought those bamboo curtains and is the mechanism used same as those for roller blinds? Can show me pics as well so that i can show my hb cos he said need to see how the mechanism work before deciding. Thanks alot!
