yokoyoko: Yeah, dark furniture and flooring will make your place look smaller. If black cannot see xiao qiang, then wooden flooring lagi cannot see coz' kenah camouflage. Hhahahhaha. DSA: Thanks for the comprehensive info on the food listing and schools!
-
DSA: Whoa ... thanks ... that's very good advice there i must say. I'll think through it with my hubby. I mean, a part of me wants to keep things basic but yet I am not sure how good the quality of RCs are to totally pass to them and get them to churn out something i want. And at this point in time, I don't have any good recommendations for RCs yet, so I am hesitant.

Hi guys, just wanna check with you all. I'm kinda tussled between hiring an ID or a contractor coz we really intend to keep our renovations simple, no need for fancy dandy stuff. If that's the case, would a contractor probably be better? And if so, anyone has any recommendations for good contractors? Coz from what I've been researching here, it's mostly ID companies, unless I've not been checking correctly.

Thanks Spidey!

Can I ask you all what are the things we need to prepare before collection of keys and making payment?
-
sheppy: Thanks dear ... I am looking forward to having dates too. Hopefully soon. darcbleu: Actually, I heard that you can still open the door during 7th month, but must pick an auspicious date.
-
darcbleu: Aiyah, August ah? That means we won't be able to open the door and check for defects then ah? Okay lah, then might have to delay till September lor. So xien, everyone here chatting about renovations already and we still cannot get involved. Hhahah.
-
^ Yah lor ... don't know must wait till when. You mentioned it could be within the next 2 weeks? Doesn't seem like it leh.
-
Very quiet today hor??? TGIF! Everyone looking forward to the weekend??? Where are my keys???
-
darcbleu: Yeah, I saw that message, but it says whichever is earlier. So likelihood is that it's gotta be within the 7 days coz' don't think we'll start renovation that soon. But I don't feel like delaying the keys collection leh. *sigh* Wonder when can we get the keys.
-
What if the date given to us to collect keys is during 7th month? And we wanna open our door on an auspicious date? Does this mean we don't have a choice but still to open within the 7 days?
-
^ Thanks for the info. My hubby was looking for a calculator like that.
-
30 apr 2009 or 2010??? Coz I recalled the date of possession mentioned in the documents was 30 apr 2010 leh. Anyway, I hope to get it earlier. On hearing that it's Sept/Oct timeframe, a bit xien leh.
-
darcbleu: Did the officer say roughly when can get keys huh???
-
Oh really ah. How come they called you??? You asked them to contact you previously??? *sigh* Aug/Sept timeframe no good leh, it's 7th month. How to open door then???
-
herbman76 & darcbleu: Okay ... thanks for sharing the info about the option fee. Clarified my doubts.
-
herbman76: I thought the option fee just automatically deducts from the CPF 10% deposit you supposed to pay? How come it gets returned to you in cash, then?
-
herbman76: So just to clarify, we get to take 2k option fee back???
-
Bubbly: No lah, no kids yet. But eventually will have mah. I also want to go your 'housewarming' tomorrow leh. But I overseas, how? Show us via webcam??? Just joking! yokoyoko: From the pic, seems like the water heater quite small hor. And no need to attach in bathroom, which is not bad. raayn: I also haven't gotten keys, neither my HLE approved yet. Don't worry, just hang in there, k? If it really concerns you, call next week just to check again.
-
eipsy: Think, you might have misunderstood me a little. I was referring to the fixture that's INSIDE the service yard itself. Thought we can use that to hang dry? Yeah, I do understand that when we're working, simply no time to do laundry until end of the week. Plus, with kids, got more clothes to wash eh? But I am someone who loves to do laundry. I'll make it a point to do it twice a week. Back in my parents' home. My dad would do laundry daily!!! Maybe I got the laundry habit from him. Hhehee. Bubbly: Your poor wife ... If I were her, I wouldn't care, I'd still buy those clothings and make my hubby handwash and hang out to dry!!! Muahhahaha!
-
^ Yeah, that of coz is not bamboo poles, I know. But that's for drying. Personally, I prefer to dry indoors than outdoors lor. Coz outdoors, don't know what sorta thing people throw out of the windows and land on your clothes. I never liked that idea. I am also considering a dryer but I must warn you that not all clothes can be placed into the dryer to dry. Especially your wife's, which might come in different materials. Clothes tend to shrink in the dryer. And dryer does consume A LOT of electricity. Do consider getting a washing machine that has a good spin-dry function and then hang it up to dry, that might be good enough I suppose.

big orange: I heard that we cannot place the water heater in the service yard. Can only place it in the bathroom. Can anyone verify on this? Bubbly: How come you say no bamboo poles? I thought on top of the service yard, they have this fixture that allows you to dry your clothes?
-
Bubbly: I think these days, it's common for the kinda setup for the master bedroom. ie. The bedroom door opens very near to the entrance of the bathroom. My hubby and I are currently staying at a place which is like this too. And so far, we haven't had problems. But then again, there are 2 of us in the house, so we always leave the master bedroom door open, thus, will not have such a problem. But of coz' when you have kids, these become a consideration, I agree. I did hear that the current bedroom doors provided are of pretty good quality??? And no lah, if doing sliding door means the opening becomes smaller then it's pretty pointless. I'd rather do a normal door. But if like what yokoyoko said about other units not having any problems, then probably we're over-worrying.
-
Bubbly: Huh??? You mentioned your master bathroom door faces outwards towards the room??? Cannot be leh. According the drawing, it seems that the door is opened inwards towards the bathroom leh, isn't it???
-
Bubbly: *sigh* News seems to be getting worse and worse. Beige??? Aiyoh ... and then now cannot do sliding door?
