hi guys, well, there are 2 perspectives to look at; as a consumer, i will sure want to have the best deal in town, nobody want to be a robert for sure. therefore, of coz will have to hunt around for good deal. with influences from family, friends & forum postings, expectation tend to rasie and go wild. to us, the magic word is CHEAP & GOOD. as a id or contractor, getting new business with profit is basically what they want. in the business world is very straight forward, once they screwed thing up, their repution will be at state, via versa. with the reference from family, friends and forum postings, it can easily to identify who are the good one and who are the bad one. as for "wasting time" issue or whoever is taking advantage on whoever, it is very subjective. in chinese we alway say: 1 plam can't make a clap, which mean both partied must agreed to the event else the event will not be happened. therefore, no party should be blamed as there are not forced to do what they have did. so, whoever is not willing to accept the event, then just reject it. but if die die want to accept it then dun complaint. that simple.

hi subayai, i dun have to belive nor dun belive. everyone have their own common sense, iq & eq and know how to judge what is good, what is bad, what is true and what is false. anyway, postings in the forum are for reference only. nevertheless, i do hope you will found your ideal id or contractor to renovate you house. do start a blog or thread to share your renovation progress too. cheer.

hi subayai, there is no right or wrong which id or contractor to engage, everyone of us have our own expectation. homeowner make their own judgement who to award the contract to, good or bad they will have to take it themself. you have bad experience with whoeven doesn't mean the other will kana too. more over you dun even engaged their services and you condemn their service sux, dun you sound unreasonable. we are here in this forum to share experience so please dun condemn other who approached or engaged whoeven for their renovation. there are some forumers in renotalk did engaged thier service. if you really here to share your bad experience with us, then you should write out the detail here and dun just talk bad about other. if it is true then it is true, no need to hide. i think by now many forumers are eagerly wanted to know your so called bad experience, so just share la. there are alot of thread in this forum keep talking bad about whoever, but when ask to write out the detail of their bad experience then they muted. how to belive these comment are true right ?

wa !!!, the carpentry is very ex leh !!! double of market rate !!! kitchen cabinet market rate is about $90-100 per ft, your quote is $200. why do you need 17ft solid top ? if your 17ft kitchen cabinet is both top & bottom, then the most you only need about 9ft solid top.

hi, i am in my final stage of my price nego with the contractor for my renovation, my 2 cents worth; a) you should have a price in your mind, do some homework to search around the forum to compute the average price of those items you intented to do. bare in mind that those pricing you see in this forum dun know how real coz some price i saw are impossible to fetch (too cheap), so you need to be more realistic. get more few quote from other contractors so you have more to compare. id are much more expensive than contractor for sure. when you finally decided what you wanted, then bargain with the contractor and most likely will have to meet half way and have a win win deal. b) ask to visit their newly renovated sites so that you can check their workmanship. c) ask to visit their suppilers to view the tiles they will proivde, material that will be proivde for the carpentry. d) find out what is included and what is not, coz these are hidden cost, e.g electrial, i think the industry pratice is to quote & bill separately from the main list. e) when perparing the final quotation list, make very sure all the detail of each item is stated clearly in the list, this is to prevent any dispute in future. from the list you posted above, it is too brief liao. every single items must be listed out. hope this info help. cheer. my thread on my renovation : http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14501

hi, the ball now on my court, dennis has gave me his bottomline already, i still considering and also i need him to quote me optional items coz may wanted to revamp my living hall flooring. will decide by this weekend i think. my renovation can only start mid of july. stay tune.
