  1. bookmark. I also need to, perhaps ownself DIY a study table.
  2. cove with bulb is really ugly. options: 1) down light with sandblasted surface = diffused light 2) LED light? colour will be white, brightness maybe an issue 3) play with switches. one switch only ON particular cove.
  3. no. FL has no other source of income to break even. So the offering of FL advice alone will cost more to you.
  4. pple do cove light to create that effect of continuous light. if u insist on putting energy saving bulbs, then might as well save your money don't do cove, do downlight instead is cheaper.
  5. Starhub Maxonline I almost laugh my teeth off today trying to activate (shift) my Starhub internet line to the new place. Was informed that my whole block 220A (first to get key) has no signal. Didn't Starhub came down before to check the signal strength? I bomb the guy on the line, he can't answer. Then he gave me 3 choices: 1) suspend the line for max up to 2mths. Upon re-activation, they will charge me some $15.xx 2) ask some starhub guy come down to activate my unit only, they will charge me some $32.xx 3) Wait for HDB to activate the whole block. Means that wait for the cow to come home. I am thinking of the 4th choice: Cut the blardy line. What a way to squeeze money out of consumers!!
  6. Ideasmiths the DURO gate lock does it has joint line? or is it one metal block? Can the key be pull out when the lock is open? I'm looking for a secure lock which the key can be pull out even when it's open.
  7. the Louvre door is abt $320, somemore the louvre can adjust up/down by a lever. My wife didn't like it. so idea scraped.
  8. the HDB supplied tap has 2 outlets: one for tap, the other connects to the shower head. If you buy a instant heater, then the connection to shower head will be disconnected, and connect to the heater, i.e Tap->Heater. Heater will supply another flexible pipe for you to connect from Heater->Shower Head
  9. you also have to consider the cost of the debris clearing. whether u hack whole wall or half wall, it is still the same cost. i.e that metal "dustbin" parked at the carpark to contain & transport the debris. or you can consider using mirrors to reflect light into that area.
  10. false ceiling should reduce the noise, but to what extend, dunno. There's also a physics theory called resonance... means that if that kid vibrates at a particular frequency that is same as the false ceiling, then the sound will be amplified just kidding.... ya, false ceiling is indeed expensive, usually in the $xxx 3 figure region. If you putting wool, then avoid the lighting points, heat = fire! or make frens with that kid, feed him with sweets, too fat = cannot jump anymore.
  11. u can always choose to remove that switch, and plaster it off. So that the extra switch will disappear
  12. depends on what surface you are mounting. Undermount in sink support if you mount on those sink support (i.e cement structure), then they usually will charge you higher coz more work has to be done. They need to first do a wet cement slab, embed the sink in that, wait for it to dry, then mount the whole thing as undermount. Undermount in solid surface cost should be the same. not much extra work to be done.
  13. Don't agree. Poh Joo carry cheaper sinks and taps than Hoe Kee. Of coz brand differs, but they are all sinks isn't it?? Hoe Kee stuff are of better build & quality. Different market: PJ=budget to medium priced brands HK=medium to high priced brands actually u only need to look at the above 2 places for the items u are looking for.
  14. i think u can ask those wood maker e.g wooden door maker to do the legs for you. Price, open for negotiation. IKEA do sell table legs but those are for screw into a wooden surface type, not for marble.
  15. very simple. dial the ID number and ask him/her to change. eh, have u already checked for hollow tiles? If not, read 1st statement.
  16. even if upstair they repair, this kinda thing only last for like 5yrs. Mine was like that. It will come back.
  17. $10/light installation = supply labour to install the light for u, i.e u buy your own light, they install for u, $10/each. wiring (meaning pull wire to that point) usually cost abt $30+/point. 2-way requires extra wiring, so may cost more.
  18. as long as the flush is powerful. black cat, white can, can catch mice is good cat.
  19. if the tap is securely tighten (underneath there's stuff to tighten), why would it move? salesman......
  20. Solar film they also go by area i.e sq ft. Medium priced ones are around $3+. With this, measure and add up your glass area and u should roughly know the price. Downlight If u have false ceiling, pulling wire to that point is 1 cost. Installing the downlight is 2nd cost. 1) power point? Dunno 2) scv point? Shifting ~$120 3) lighting point? $30+ 4) installation charges? ~$8-$10
  21. you can firstly compare several quotes to get a feel of the market rate, but this is not really accurate, different pple chop u differently. to calculate your floor area is simple math, divide the floor area into square/rectangle, convert the lengths into (metres) first, then (L x B) into areas (sq metre) and add them up. Then u have to add in a little more for skirting and wastage. Your floorplate is abit slanted, so give a tiny little more for wastage coz involves more cutting. All measurements should come from the drawing, not from actual. if u find your flooring is more expensive than others, it's bcoz more Kung Fu is needed to cut the tiles due to the slanting design.
  22. is it in black and white to do water-proofing? At most u can only ask them to repair the water-proofing. I would say termites and water proofing are 2 different matters.
