How Long Does It Take To Construct Kitchen Cabinet
hihihi replied to secret_ag's topic in Kitchen & Bathroom
1) they'll take measurement and prefab in their factory. (~6-7days max) 2) They then deliver to your house and install all the pieces together, cut the holes, install hinges (2-3days) ya, of coz u need to get the sink + tap onsite when they come to (2). Otherwise how they know hole size to cut and also need to install your tap/sink. -
the chemical composition is slightly different which determines their toughness, though they looked the same. If dedicated gouting powder is used, it'll be more resistant to water + wear and tear. Imagine u use plaster powder for gouting, it'll be eroded away very fast. Alot of pple simply use white cement for gouting, it's ok, but it's not the optimium solution.

if u can get out of a bear trap in time, it's still considered a bull market.

Reduction Of Electricity Bill
hihihi replied to alan26's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
for water bill, someone earlier tested and applying the method of dripping the tap while he/she goes to work, and comes back with a bucket of water for water plants or flush toilet. However I tested mine, and it doesn't work maybe coz newer flat. even the smallest drip will trigger the meter -
I find their good ones are too expensive, price is comparable to going for custom made. cheap one must choose carefully. those chip board or compress wood ones are definitely no no. Pine or solid wood ones are ok, except they usually comes raw (i.e not treated, not painted), need to ownself vanish. their solid wood quality can also varies from time to time... look at their planks, sometimes full of wood "hearts" or sometimes have natural cracks. Need to select carefully.

normally either change all or don't change, never heard of change some parts. Corrosion, shouldn't be. It's true SS piping are more difficult to bend as compared to copper. reason being very simple. Change = money = profits.

hihihi replied to cj9404's topic in Carpentry Works
tight budget of coz go for laminated plywood. If u wanna go for even tighter budget, then IKEA pine wood. -
the first thing renovation does is to do hacking (if any), or tiling... eh... water and electricity are of coz needed. PUB needs time to activate those stuffs also. ~ 1 to 2 week b4 will be enuff.

have. dunno is it getting common or not. The screw on type is called E27 holder and that must be made of ceramic coz it'll get pretty hot. some shops offer modification from the plug type to the E27. If u want, can PM me for a shop which I got from.

As for the caterpillar-like thingy, I'm throwing and blowing them far out of the window whenever I see them. And had sprayed a boundary of insecticide along my doorstep and corridor. Hope them can reduce and disappear just like the way they appear. I'm staying >10 floor, it's really amazing how they got up here. For the paint thingy: 1) u can try JIF first, works most of the time, but it's abrasive, so don't rub too hard. If it doesn't work, then paint patch it over. 2) tin must be un-contaminated by dirty brushes + air-tight; otherwise no point keeping as it'll turn bad eventually. Good airtight ones can keep more than 5yrs. paints are like spare tiles, some pple don't see the need to keep, some just keep for just-in-case. It's really up to you.

anyone have the caterpillar-like thingy seen downstairs inside their house? I am starting to get some recently, and really wonders how they got into the house. When they appear, they just appear crawling on the floor.

1) toilet(WC, basin, tap) + kitchen(tap, sink, hob, hood) buy after getting keys or getting renovator. After u have a feel of the dimension u need, design, colour proposed. Toilet stuff will be needed during tiling and kitchen stuff needed during cabinet installation. 2) aircon buy after tiling, before or after painting. before painting = so that pipes get painted too. after painting = so that wall behind A/C gets painted too. Some asked for 2x painting aka "touch-up" to paint the pipes. 3) toilet and kitchen accessories. after tiling, anytime.

it's a goodwill thingy. Sometimes can be returned with goodwill or simply dump into the dustbin. Mine also requested for 1mth extension for a lower COV, out of goodwill, we let them stay. But in the end, they even took away the signage "#11-123" outside the door. It's not that we gian that signage, but it's the gesture that's erm.... questionable.

Anyone's Kitchen Glass Door With Height More Than 2.4 Meter?
hihihi replied to shuseido's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
my contractor once quoted me for a wall mirror which I insisted as single piece. he says lift cannot fit, if wanna bring up need to add: $100 per floor. conclusion is that I didn't do it. if 10th floor = + $1000, siao, that's more expensive than the mirror itself. -
I've only seen b4 one that is made of wood, it's a door btw. Suggest u to call up those aluminum bi-fold door makers to get a feeling of the cost. Starting point is yellow pages website or google.

I also gotten the Shell package during their promo. Free head, free $20 voucher, end up calculate, cheaper than the rest. At first got Esso, but luckily just park there didn't install the head. Head cost $78 btw.. And ya, the heads are not interchangable. Need to stick to the same brand.

Hack Away Undermount Sink And Replace With Top Mount?
hihihi replied to jtec14's topic in Carpentry Works
overmount: water easy to spill out and over. Prepare to do alot of sweeping water back into the sink. undermount is the more logical choice. long term usage problem is likely to be the silicon seal between the solid surface and the sink will grow mould and turn black, which is quite unavoidable. seepage problem won't occur coz they really pump in quite abit of sealant. between sink and solid surface. -
