comparing your building service center (BSC), mine was better. I reported hollow tiles, At least they came and see the tiles have a slight different shade, they left the tile there for me to see. If ok, then inform them to proceed. same here, I wouldn't accept those hollow tiles.

my advice, never go for those small scale shops with 1 or 2 men operation. I had a bad experience with those.

fridge bottom, being made of metal is sensitive to water.. that's why the base. But most if not all fridge have legs. Another thought is that making a fridge base will make the whole look more continuous.. as in your bottom cabinet starts at the same height as the fridge. Otherwise your fridge will look "lower" than your cabinet.

ever saw a thread saying changing laminate for a cabinet. cost that person $1k+, which I think is only few hundreds less than a brand new thing... wardrobe still easier to change, but kitchen cabinet a bit tough job leh.

I had my TV console made recently. It originally came with white surface, most likely paper like material. But after I complained, they pasted the laminate over it. u overlay, very easy to get popping tiles with this condition. Contractor will always take the easiest and cheapest route, tell u some funny "reasons" just to stop u from demanding further. why do u even need to fix the problem yourself? the water is supposed to be channel down, if water leaks out means the piping is not connected well. I supposed the contractor need to dismantle the toilet bowl and rectify the leak. Simply putting silicon the seal off the leak at the base is just sweeping the dust under the carpet. leaking toilet is no joke. Do u want to see your downstairs neighbour coming up to tell u that your toilet is leaking and wetting their ceiling? More to come: spalling concrete, HDB asking u to foot the bill coz it's your fault?

actually it depends on which level of personnel u have found. If u look for contractor, they will already have mark up the price already. Unless u managed to find the ground level staff.... the tiler, the electrician, the carpenter themselves. But then, you will still need to do some market survey. If the ground level staff is not honest, they still can charge u a marked up price same as that of contractor. Advantage: - cost savings (how much?) Disadvantage: - u need lots of time to coordinate the pple. - they can afford to abandon u coz it's a 1-time project from u (but u can use progressive payment to control them) - your renovation period will be slightly longer - is the cost saving justifying the time spent? Normally u can find these pple either by word-of-mouth, or just visit some renovating flats, stick in and ask for contacts.

Problem is, the sink is there, I had to stand close to the cabinet, facing it, and wash things without being able to see what am I washing.... hmm... not really. For mine case, it's the opposite. It also depends how bright or what is the mood u want that place to be. U want cozy cozy, then false ceiling with downlight is more suitable. If u want bright to read papers, then L-box is more suited.

instead of hack, why not cut a slit and let the water flow to that slit? cut slit = 5 min job hack curb = 15min job it's very easy using a angle cutting tool, only super dusty.
