  1. The first one they just put a notice on the door of every household but some not yet get their keys, so they have to do it in batches to cover everyone. Surely they will tell u cannot change appt to save themselves the trouble, and earn $ for subsequent appt. the first batch of technician who came are really friendly.
  2. hihihi

    Doors

Cost: wood > PD > alum If don't think abt cost, I prefer Bi-fold to PD, coz need one less action to open the door. Bi-fold just push the centre, the door will open. PD is a fancy thing.
  3. true, that's how they earn $. Just ask anyone to be present, don't have to be owner. Whole thing take less than 10mins. If ok, they'll stick a sticker on the socket (to me that is bullxxxx). Tell them where your additional point is.
  4. today I called up the town council to request them to turn on the corridor lights at 6:30pm instead of the current 7pm. All other neighbouring blocks in sights had their lights on at around 6:30pm, only Linear Green is still in the dark. It is very difficult to see the key hole in such low lights, also for safety reasons. After all we paid the conservency fee
  5. 1) Ceramic tiles are out of fashion. 2) Timber doors are not practical for toilets. Can't handle wet. Full swing can hit someone/thing. 3) Worksmanship is questionable when it's mass laid. if offer only 3 timber doors for the bedrooms, then can take. 5 doors means including 2 toilets. Conclusion: don't take.
  6. depends on the height, some bay windows are too high for a bed's height.
  7. last week just saw 2 "white angels" walked by the length of the blocks, wonder how many causualties. Didn't u all noticed there are less cars parked along there nowadays?
  8. visit the painting website (ICI, NIppon), they will teach u how by playing with the colour tones.
  9. I don't see the need why u need to meet the contractor at all. Your ID is your interface person, he's in charge of the project. U only need to issue your command and he needs to fulfuill it. the contractor is 95% at fault, your ID is 5% at fault for covering it up and trying to pull a fast one on you. Withhold the final payment if necessary. No matter what he has to give u a new piece. Worst case, you can goto Small Claims Tribunal.
  10. the shape of the house really pose a big challenge to the reno.
  11. I'm using it thru renovator, so I don't know the cost price. Here is the contact via email: http://www.edleuro.com/dev/base.swf
  12. Hi oscarr, welcome to 220A. cement screeding is free by HDB, when u collect keys u indicate whether u want it or not. It's for laying of parquet, not for tiling.
  13. E27 i.e screw type. easier to change bulb. Downside is that E27 imposed a limit up to a certain brightness of bulb that u can use, due to the screw portion that is wasted space. If u compare with 2-pin type, the holder portion is much shorter. Most shops only sell 2-pin type. Some shops offer service to help u modify the light to E27 holder.
  14. for those house with the bomb shelter facing the living room, the designer must have left part of the brain at home, causing so many people to waste money just to hide the door. The door is pretty easy to remove. just careful that the door will be heavy.... floor protection and maybe standby trolley will be useful.
  15. just buy any wired doorbells. cut the wires, and then attach to the connection point. Very easy to DIY.
  16. higher tint ones will appear like a mirror surface at night. Day time looks ok though. The higher the tint, the more mirror-like it will be, essentially behaving like one-way mirror. So some pple blur blur thought that pple cannot see in, and start squeezing pimples and change clothes. Just know that pple can still see in, and take necessary precaution will do.
  17. Source of ant's house and smell. rotting door frame better change.
  18. Update on the cable internet signal SH and HDB are playing pingpong with each other. SH says waiting for xx% occupancy, I ask them how will they know the flat has reached xx% occupancy, they immediately shut up, coz they don't know if HDB don't feed them with info. Basically cable infrastructure belongs to SH, they are taking their own sweet time to activate it. HDB cannot force SH to turn it on, but can tell SH that xx% occupancy is reached, they can turn it on now. If u want to activate yours early, then pay $32. But I don't believe in giving free money to them. I spoke to SH engineer, and they are checking. I told them the flat is already >50% occupied, what are they waiting for. So please, unity is strength, if you want the signal, please call 1633 (SH) and 1800-2255432 (HDB) to press them to turn it on for the whole estate, if not at least your block.
  19. u can either get from IKEA those nice nice boxed up T5 tubes then no need pelmet. Or do pelmet with exposed T5.
  20. instead of mirror (breakable), why not consider using solar film instead. There are those which are very silver and mirror-like, totally look like mirror.
  21. my instant water heater also having same symptoms. It started off working after install. After I recently shifted in, now turn ON, LED don't light up, no hot water either. I opened up, tested the "live" wire has current. My current setup is a wire come out from the wall (done by HDB), then connect to the inside of the water heater. Can post some pictures? What is a junction box? I'm an amateur, hoping either getting the warranty guy come down or if can DIY also can.
  22. Yesterday I tested my TV, yes it's working with the cable plug into the SCV point. Can receive TV signal as normal. It's the Maxonline home broadband that is giving pain. Now I am talking with the HDB and asking the HDB to talk with Starhub. Seems like they don't know their stuff well. Starhub told HDB that they will come down FOC to activate the signal, but I think they are referring to the signal strength checking. If signal strength is already checked and OK, why don't they just turn it ON instead of holding it ransom. Wireless speed is not good, and I don't want something extra growing on my body 10yrs down the road, so I am sticking to cable solution. I believe if more people call in to HDB to ask them to turn ON the internet cable signal, they will oblige eventually, sooner.
  23. I just wrote in to HDB. This is simply milking consumer for money. Signal is there, why do I need to pay SH to turn ON signal to my unit only? Anyone has our area's MP's email addy? For older estates they'll post it in the notice board. Update: Called HDB at 1800-2255432 and the CSO tell me she will ask the contractor to check and turn ON the signal. I left my contacts and requested them to call me back when it's done. keep fingers crossed.
  24. tube there's 2 types: T5 (thinner) or T8 (thicker, aka normal size) Lengths: many many lengths. Most common= 2ft and 4ft which u can get even at supermart. Other lengths less common, but still... probably jalan besar or more specialised shops will have. T5 is less bright coz thinner, but lower power rating. U can look at T5 tube.
