I see. Maybe now their price not competitive anymore. I bought an 43inch projector TV there 3 years ago and the price they charged me is $300-$500 cheaper than Best Denki and Harvey Norman. Free delivery included somemore. Thus, thought of going back there since it is cheap. Now have to reconsider. Anyone out there with lobangs of places with cheap electronic goods?

Totally agree that Seahorse mattress is very hard cos that's what they are well known for that and it is supposing good for elderly people. For me....will never buy cos too hard for me For Stove, I have a colleague of mine reccommending the brand Rinnai. She says that brand got stove that has the the fire below surface where wind will not accidentally blow off the flames. I am hoping to find time this weekend to go to MegaDiscount store in Katong Mall to have a look to see if this brand is available. For those who have taken 4-room and is considering fridge, I would suggest a one door one. Cos after looking at my dad's unit, there is simply no space for the two-door kind of fridge.

Depends on whether you are taking the 4-room or 5-room flat. My dad, who took the 4-room, had a 40-inch Samsung LCD and I find it just the right size cos the distance bet the sofa and the TV quite short. For quotation, hidden cost that you are to look out for are typically:- 1) Electrical Wiring 2) What is hinge system are they providing for kitchen cabinets? Will be good if they can provide Blum system or any kind of anti-slam system that they get in-house. 3) Chemical Washing must be included in the quotation 4) Arrangement for PUB gas pipe installation must be included I think these are the things that I can think of right now. Will add more if I find anything missing tonight when I get home to read my quote. Also remember to always ask your ID if you can go visit one of the house that they have done up so that you can see the workmanship. Not really as I haven't been keeping a close watch on this for a few months now. But general feeling for me is that Samsung is normally cheaper and have good exterior looks.

Price range for serta is from 2000 to 5000. I think they are the cheapest as compared to Simmons and Sealy since they are the youngest in the Singapore mattress industry. Yeah, hopefully it is going to be worth it for me My advice would be to not close doors on any IDs, just tell them your budget for reno (always mark down your budget by 20% as I can assure you, most IDs will give you quotes without electrical wirings and this 20% will be a buffer for you). What me and my wife did was to go around about 10 IDs giving them our floor plan and budgets and we chose the one that we feel most comfortable and affordable with. No, my dad house is done by his own friend who happen to be a contractor at Meng Design. As what I have mention earlier, workmanship so so only. They also don't get to see any 3-D drawing prior to start work. I am a very unsecure person, thus must see drawings before start work. Will live in my new home for a long time, so, don't want to take any chance. Back to Intra, my designer is Angeline. At first, she gave me the impression that she is very impatient. However, as we talk longer, realise that she is just fast cos she really knows her job well and she is extremely busy cos almost all jobs goes to her and her boss (the two highly recommended one). As for the workmanship, they have a factory in Malaysia to do all the carpentry and is not outsourced thus easier for quality control. I have a friend who had her house done up by them, can say workmanship is really good. Factors that made me sign with them:- 1) ID is very experienced 2) Workmanship is good 3) Mostly good comments from the threads that I have read here 4) Office near our house, so easy for me to look for them and also for them to monitor my house However, the down side is that they do not come cheap but I'm sure it will be worth it.

HI, I think you can check with the officers in HDB or give a call to them. If I am not wrong, you can actually produce your marriage cert at a later then after collecting the keys. Not sure what is the duration but do check with HDB on that.

Yup, family gang It is actually through him that I know that there is an enbloc going on and I quickly move ahead to buy one of the units there to enjoy the benefits as well. My ID is IntraDesign (their office is right opposite our new house). Estimated quote that I have got from them is $25K. This includes:- 1) Feature Wall in Living Room 2) Kitchen Cabinets (With blum system for all the drawers and their very own anti-slam system for the cupboards) 3) A walk-in wardrobe in master bedroom 4) Console and side table for master bedroom 5) All window grills plus window in service yard 6) False Ceiling or L-Box in living room and master bed room 7) Laminated surface for all the window ledge 8) Painting (unlimited colour) 9) Chemical Washing 10) Base for Fridge and Washing Machine 11) Shoe Cabinet and also a feature wall to conceal the bomb shelter However, they did not include the cost for re-wiring and all the additional electrical point cos haven't got the key and hard to estimate the cost now. By the way, when you got the house, do you have the option of having HDB to do the flooring and the rooms doors for you? I chose to let them do it and kind of regret cos the ceremic flooring does not look very nice to me (I prefer homogenious tiles) and the timber door is kind of boring looking.

No lah....what I meant is that I have already signed the contract with my ID and is now just waiting for collection of key before my reno starts. Such a long wait!!! My dad, who has also got a unit here, had his keys in Jan and Reno is already 90% completed. They will be moving there in 2 weeks time. So envy!!

Yup....I bought a cheaper one from Dunlopillow for my current house 3 years back and both me and my wife have bad experience of backache. Even my in-laws who bought the mattress together with us had the bad experience. Thus, this time round, I am investing in a slightly better one. Started off research around the bed among the top 3 (Simmons, Sealy and Serta) and both me and my wife found the Serta one very comfortable to sleep in. For ID, agree that this is the biggest headache and I am glad mine is over.

True, I am also waiting for GSS to buy my dryer, washing machine and most importantly my bed. For TV, I have already bought it in Feb during a promotion with Harvey Norman where they sell a 40 Inch Full HD Samsung LCD + 32 Inch HD Ready Samsung LCD for $2,999. For Bed, I am actually eyeing Serta Missouri (King-Size) but the price seems fixed at abt $3,200 and has not moved since beginning of this year. Hope GSS will bring some discounts to it.

What kind of electronic stuff are you shortlisting?

I have been looking for IDs since Jan this year and have met up with several ID Firms like Rest & Relax, *****, IntraDesign, UHome, Meng Design and I-Bridge. Throught of maybe sharing all my experience with them with all of you for a reference. Rest & Relax - Not much impression about them. ***** - Professionalism is what I feel when I met the designer. Presented the design on a piece of cardboard with tiles on the side. IntraDesign - Got to know this firm through a friend and is right across the road from our new house (among one of the shops in the stretch beside Pizza Hut. ID is Angeline. Really knows her work inside out and I have seen her work on my friend's house and the workmanship really good. Chose them in the end. UHome - Very good customer service. Managed to endure with all my nonsense and I am impressed by their rate of work. Got the design done in a week. Only setback is that the 3-D drawing that they say was for free was actually a cut and paste from all their precious works. Meng Design - The carpentry I saw is so-so but what I do not like is that they do not show you the 3-D artwork before the start of work and just merely tells you what colour will be used for each wardrobe and kitchen cabinets. I-Bridge - Got the worst experience from this firm. They kept forcing us to part with $500 dollars as a deposit and claim this is needed to show us the 3-D drawings. Will never ever introduce someone there. Hope this helps
