  1. Seems abit early cos i just only signed my Exercise option on Tuesday but here goes!!!! W00T YES OUR OWN HOME!!!! My Floorplan : Overall Impression : layout is pretty good, lots of windows around the whole house, but the living room is giving me a headache! Still dunno how to layout.... I'm looking for opinions from fellow forumers please give me some advice~ Oh and please ignore the storeroom cos it's going away! For good! Starting my contractor and furnishing hunting this week so stay tuned for pics!
  2. Maybe you'd like to share your list of work to-do so we can have a better picture? I'd like to take some reference too
  3. Thanks alot zirhk for clarifying this, now i can get better picture i feel my headache subsiding lolx.
  4. Ok i've been reading RenoTalk daily but there's still some stuff i'm pretty confused about. Let's go with the perpective i'm going with a renovations contractor instead of ID. 1. I see some you talking about buying parts like switches, sinks, taps etc. This is factored as additional costing on top of the contractor's work? 2. How is the actual flow of work? Let's say you walk into a Renovations firm with a floor plan and get a quotation on whatever is to be done. Are those inclusive of materials? What happens next? I'm sorry for being a noob and if this has been posted countless times but i've been filtering through posts and the mroe i read the more confused i'm getting :/
  5. hi starscream i'm still in the middle of processing loan and documents so i can't it won't be too soon before i can start playing around. I went to your blog and saw a few interesting stuff. The youtube video you did on your space planning, is that a programme available for use on the web? And that balcony idea, are we actually allowed to build that on HDB's walls? How strong do you think it is to hold weight of 2 human beings though? And also, since we have the same layout i presume yours is a resale flat too? What's the condition of the flat and what reno you planning to do and how much have you been quoted? Sorry about the 101 questions. @ Latitude : thanks for the idea will note it down. ;D
  6. Ok so my living room is in a peculiar L shape and i'm having trouble how and where to position my sofa set, coffee table and tv rack. Need some advice from forumers with some condition to apply. Thank you in advance ;D This is the floorplan : Conditions : I do not want to cut through the TV area when i'm walking to the rooms, meaning the whole sofa, coffee table and TV area is isolated. Items to consider : The storeroom you see in the floorplan is going to be hacked off. Average sized 3 seater L sofa Average sized coffee table 220cm x 40cm tv rack. If you have any other opinions feel free to advise. If you want you can add some diagrams to further explain your ideas. Thanks again~~~
  7. Thanks a lot bunbun wow so that's how the charges really add up eh? Oh and how could i forgot my wife-to-be loves their hotdog, or rather their honey-mustard -.-" But the food there is quite good really. Nowadays it seems the motive for going to IKEA seemed to have sway in other directions hahaha...
  8. Hard to imagine if the guys shakes head /faint
  9. I did my proposal at the top of the ferris wheel @ Miramar Mall during our vacation at Taipei during mid-jan. Coincidentally her birthday was on the 17th so it was somewhat a meaningful birthday present to her and she LOVES ferris wheel rides.
  10. I've seen some futons @ Muji Bugis Junction. Feels very comfy. And if you're into some simple furniture Muji has them too.
  11. Yeah that was my intention too cos comparing prices i don't see that big a saving to make myself do all the work. And the thought of myself building a whole kitchen cabinet and then realising something was wrong at the very end. But there is 1 mystery i still don't quite understand is my fiancee loves going to IKEa for window-shopping even though she's aware that not everything can buy.
  12. Is it advisable to get stuff like kitchen cabinet, wardrobe and and anything wooden from Ikea? From what i know most stuff from IKEA are DIY but how the heck are you going to DIY kitchen cabinet(assuming it's DIY too)? It seems too huge a project for a layman to work on. And if we're talking about durability, what CAN you get from IKEA?
  13. Sorry for interrupting but a question you might be interested in too. What's the worst thing that can happen if you're a newb and you want to DIY paint your own home?? to cutepinkelephant : You're going to DIY paint your own home, but are you going to engage contractors in other aspects like carpentry etc.? I was wondering in let's say my current home is not move-in condition and needs major hauling, so i think it's unlikely for the painting to be done by myself since i already engage contractors to do the whole house?
