1 pointWe had the whole house plastered. After 2.5 yrs started to show cracks and some areas popped out. Can we just replaster over the cracked areas or need to scrap out whole wall n ceiling before replastering?

1 pointHi, Thinking of getting HERF flooring, and seems like my choices are Evorich, Floor Xpert and Inovar. May I know if anyone has experience with them? Evorich is very popular, and most people I have talked to are happy with the quality, even after a few years. It also seems to be the most expensive though. How about the others? I'm concerned with the durability and water resistance of the flooring. Thanks!

1 pointHi everyone, been reading this forum since I started sourcing for my house. Thought it will be great to start a blog to share my renovation journey for my first house. After going through various viewing, I settle for a flat at Ang Mo Kio Blk 118 - Corridor Unit (*Only look around AMK as my mum stay there) Just settled my 2nd OTP thus mostly getting the house in End March or April, got to admit that buying through single's scheme is really very taxing on the wallet. Below is my Floor Plan I have not really decide how to renovate my house so I really hope some experienced people can give some advise to me : From house renovation,ID or contractors, brands of electrical stuff or any other small minor things which I should take note ^^ (Thanks in advance)

1 pointHi All, Anyone have their renovation done by 9 Creation before? I was wanting to get my tiles from Lian Seng Hin as I prefer the simple selection and for similar simple tiles, it cost much cheaper than Hafary, but I was told the company can only get their supply from Hafary. Please advise if anyone managed to get their tile from any supplier other than Hafary. Thank you!

1 pointHey everybody! After reading many of the forums here on Renotalk, I'm extremely pleased to say that it is finally my turn to do my renovation. My flat: Buangkok Vale @ Buangkok Green Size: 4 room A short story on my flat: Actually keys to the flat were given out in March 2013, but I had just then filed for a divorce with my ex-husband. Finally obtaining my legal documents from the Courts in June, I made an appeal to HDB to retain the flat with my name and my son's name, and after 1 year of struggling with non-responses from HDB, i have just only collected my keys to the flat in early August. After doing the necessary rites and etc, here are some pics of my flat! (1 year worth of dust on the floor has already been swept and mopped!) The main hall (ignore unused trash bag) The view from the window: Collage of the rooms and corridor: And one last one of my cheeky happy boy... More to come on my ID choice next post!

1 pointHello! Have been lurking around for the past 2-3 years and finally, my flat is here. Okay, the Mister and I like cats (& dogs) AND we are also on a super tight budget that's why I've named our house the "Meow Residence" cause we're neow ("cheapskate" in hokkien) - Mister is so going to kill me if he knows what I named our house. Ha! Anyway, here is also where the sun rises as this is the location where we can be found and our home gets very good, strong morning sunlight everyday from 7am to 12noon. Let's cut straight to the point, this is how small our flat is (THE FLOOR PLAN):-

1 pointThanks for sharing this!! I was just thinking how to conceal my TV on the brickwall and this totally explained how it should be done! Anyway can I ask you, does your grouting between your craftbricks have any cracks? My brickwall is exactly like yours however upon very very close inspection, there are cracks on 35% of the white grouting - not sure if this is normal or should I ask the tiler to redo this. Also did your ID tell you he put a layer of protection on your bricks? Not sure if this is necessary too. Hope to hear from you, thanks!!

1 pointMORE INTERESTING UPDATES TODAY!! INTERNAL BEDROOM/ BATHROOM DOOR PAINTING – TA DA! All my internal bathroom & bedroom doors have been painted in immaculate matt white paint!! Looks super heavenly and LOOKS LIKE IT WAS A GOOD DECISION TO PAINT IT WHITE! The painter told me that they apparently painted 4 coats of paint from morning till night… Salute them for the hard work & the pride they put in.. Doors look so super nice in putih! (‘white’ in Bahasa Melayu) Now I need to start to seriously contemplate self-painting my MAIN DOOR in putih too.. Hmmm… Oh yes, you can see the lighting effect of the track lights installed at the room passageway.. Master bathroom toilet door (not shown in earlier picture) also painted white.. I think it offers a good contrast against the stony-greyish-finish of my Master Bathroom wall tiles… You will probably notice that the right-hand-side of the photo is the round beauty mirror that CFO & I bought.. Also from #*** Gallery.. Hehe.. #MUUTO COFFEE TABLE SET, DLM TABLE, #GRAFUNKT CIRCUS ARE HERE! - HAHAHAHA WOOHOO! CFO & I LOVE THE MINTY GREEN OF THE #GRAFUNKT CIRCUS!! WE LOVE the ash-coloured & light-grey #Muuto coffee tables!! WE LOVE the baby pink DLM table too!! AHHHHHH!! Love love LOVE!! Wahahahaha… #LIFESTORY 1.8M SOLID-WOOD OAK TABLE & #MINIFORMS SLOPE LIGHTS ARE HERE!! – Ecstatic about all these deliveries!! Can’t wait for my renovation to finish so I can display them nicely & see the whole house decoration take shape!!!! EXCITING!! Will post more pictures later tonight!! Stay Tuned! Yeah!

1 pointMore inspirations ... Anyway, the search for the perfect ID/ contractor was indeed no easy task. I started out about 6-12 months ago, casually making appointments with all the big and small ID firms, as well as recommendations by renotalk people such as Contractor K. Noticed that the very branded ID firms such as Chew Interior hires various 'supposedly' ID to serve however upon sitting down and sharing our scandinavian ideas and designs, the ID serving me actually has no idea what is scandinavian and showed a whole lot of other modern, resort designs to me. He also wasn't keen to listen and cater to what we wanted and kept pushing for what he thought was perfect for us. After talking to him for half an hour, we gave up and left the place however he kept calling us up after that to tell us he's really excited and keen to do our home even though we told him we were not keen. Infact, I met many of such IDs who wasn't sure of exactly what we wanted and matching it to our expectations. With some knowledge and research, some tried to smoke their way through to getting us sign our ID contract, some simply blatantly was too pushy and ignorant. Met with Contractor K as well and he's really nice like what everyone shared. He's experienced and friendly however his quotation was on par with reputable IDs we met thus we decided to drop him out. One of the deepest impression I got was from Free Space Intent. If you have the budget, I say go with them cause they are really patient, experienced and very very helpful, accommodating however their quotation was on the high side as well. If I had a little more budget, I would go with them. To be honest, up till today after getting my keys, I haven't signed with any IDs because we weren't comfortable to sign a contract way too early, unlike our neighbours. We realised that many people typically sign their IDs way in advance however from experience, some had regrets as they realised there was better IDs or cheaper options. We didn't want to be in the position of not having any options and getting stucked with the same ID so we decided to finally shortlist an ID which we are most comfortable with - to come to our place this weekend, take actual measurements and revise his quote with us before we sign it. One reason why we are taking our time to sign was because previously when we were getting married, we signed for a bridal package way in advance, paying $3K deposit only to find out months before our wedding that the bridal went bankrupt and closed down. They say, once bitten twice shy so better to be safe than sorry now Lastly, more updates on my purchases this weekend once I get them! Thanks for sharing this journey with me and my joy in building the first home!

1 pointDecided to engage id due to busy schedule and frequent flying. Flooring was laid with the wrong color from what I requested. ID admitted is their mistake so they will be changing it. Just that they made some ridiculous comment which make me super angry. I wanted Evorich Hazelnut, the color was "american walnut" dunno from which flooring company.

1 pointHi jane, Welcome to Bukit Panjang. Since both your mum and mum in law stay here, I guess you are very familiar with the town? I personally like the tranquility of the town and yet, ample amenities are nearby too.

1 pointplease give me a quote too for a 4 room hdb bto flat. thanks.

1 pointPardon me, if you plan the kitchen layout this way, it kinda make no sense. I presume the red box represent the fridge. Fridge will look isolated and stand alone. Then the table top 3600 - L shape side - hob 750mm - sink 800mm, you are left with 1500mm or lesser. 1500mm divide into 3 for the space between hob, sink and the L shape and you are left with miserable space. So unless you intend to keep the rice cooker, coffee maker, microwave etc everytime you use them, else you are left with no space to prepare your food. Also bottom cabinet only may save cost but you will run into storage space issues. Dont underestimate house hold appliances size needs. Coffee machine, woks, pans, steamer, toaster, blender, juicer, toaster, steamboat and the list goes on. Very soon you will find space running out and will turn to bomb shelter. Just my 2 cents.
