Hi babyQ thanks for the picture i have the same one selected but with two tubes. I was just wondering from electrician point of view is it one point or two point.I mean how they charge. e.g. they say one light point @28 but you can have point with single tube or two tube. I selected two tubes because i want to reduce number of points. Any experts comments on this.

rgds,

Indee

When electrician charge ONE point, it means it cost him $xx to run electrical wiring to that ONE spot, for ONE lighting point.

It is immaterial whether you choose ONE downlight with one tube or ONE downlight with two tubes. The electrician charges for ONE lighting point. Two tubes is brighter than one tube, that's all. You just gotta ask yourself if your downlight in the position you want is bright enough to illuminate that spot.

Do check if this $45 per light includes the light fixture as well as labour, or just labour are you indicated. If it's just labour, it's bad news.

"labour" to install each down light should be between $8 - $10 each.

"cost of each down light" - max $30 each

Hi vicenzo70,

that's fr*****king expensive man. The cost of downlight varies from 20 to 30++ depending where you buy hte labour for installation should be only 8 per downlight. if you are putting some chandiliers then it make sense but not for downlight 45 thats way out of league bro. :yamseng::P

chunkmonkey has answered your question.

market rate should around $30 for a light point + $8 installation = $38

but your ID is charging you $45. anyway, IDs always charge more lah.

Seriously when those people charge $30 for a light point its already a rip off! Usually they only need to do tapping for false ceiling/L-box lighting. Which is a very simple job. But nevertheless, its around the market rate. But if you can find cheaper electrician, of cos its better.
