kaijia 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) "U guys seem to LOVE the renovation process alot huh??" One friend asked me. Yes, we're on our way to move to our 3rd home at Pasir Ris end of this yr. & No , we seriously dont LOVE the renovation process, though i have to admit it can be fun at times, but the tiredness is a million times more!!! From Lavender to Sengkang to Pasir Ris in 4 short yrs. How's that? Not for the love of home moving. Rather, i'm planning more for my 2 princesses, now 23 mths & 10 mths. had hacked away a room to make more space for my master bedroom & i kind of regretted it now. Not enuff rooms!! I hope this time, i will update promptly & not be like the last one. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...;hl=blueblue_m6 Here we go!!! ================================================================================================ The Original Floor Plan: Think most of the EM forummers have the same layout as mine. ok, maybe not. haha. We have engaged a geomancer for this new home. Many wild ideas were shelved , creativity was restricted , & brain juices were drained juz to build an ideal home in-line with the geomancer's advises. hope this is all worth the effort!! Will be hacking quite a fair bit. Changing my master bedroom to bedroom 2. Swapping the common bathroom with the master one. A different concept master bathroom. An open concept study & dancing room. An open concept white kitchen.... Pls do stay tuned for more updates!! Our new home's new layout (which i drew myself using paint): Layout maybe subjected to changes. kaijia 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) Here's a list of things we've gotten: ID Firm engaged Maple Design. Din go back to Wayne, The Interior Place, due to budget constraints. Hope all goes well. As for Maple Design, price is definitely reasonable. Though creativity is somehow restrictive. hmmm... come to think of it, Lawrence has yet to get back to me regarding my Crystallized Glass Panel Kitchen Worktop (which i've oredi found the contact no & name of the supplier for him to call) & cushioned feature wall. Lawrence, the boss is a very friendly guy. So far, he has been answering very promptly to all our doubts. very easy going guy. Plumbing & Bathroom accessories L-Phenomenon Went back to Cynthia, L-Phenomenon cos they supplied the accessories for my current home. Though I know a lot of forums had negative feedbacks abt them, be it abt high price or bad service, i must beg to differ. In fact, i tot their service 2 yrs ago was gd & pricing's reasonable, though definitely not the lowest. Lightings Eurostar Went back to look for Paul. Both me & hubby love crystal lightings. So ended up buying 3 more sets of swarovski crystal lamps, along with some spotlights, PLCs, etc from him this time round. Including my existing 3 sets, we'll be having 6 crystal lights in the new place!! hehe. He gave us a very good 'friendship-price'. Thanx Paul~!! Curtains Art Living Went back to Ada for the curtains. Quite happy with their service 2 yrs ago. She gave us some old customer's discount. Wall Paper The Montella My 1st experience with them. So far, so good. The staff helping us is Labon. I must say she's quite knowledgeable. Their wallpapers' range is very wide & designs are beautiful. Got a package from them to wall paper the entire hse (except kitchen, bathrooms & Balcony). Sofa & TV Console (For Entertainment Room) Cellini Got a piece of sofa in full cow-hide, along with a round sofa seat (as coffee table) & TV console from Ramesh. Aircon Gain City Got a good deal when panasonic was having a promo for the air-con units. bought 2 x 3 split units = 6 units. Airconditioning the hse is enuff to burn a hole in our pockets. Luckily we shopped at the rite time. Pending Items: 1. Kids' bed (if we wana change), wardrobe & helpers' bed -Considering ikea's. din wana custom make, cos the kids r still small, & ikea has reasonably priced bed & wardrobe set that allow interest-free instalment payment! hehe. of cos, if budget allows in future, will revamp their room based on their likings. ended up getting built-in wardrobe & built-in half height cabinets instead.... not planning to get kids' bed 1st. prob will juz spray paint their existing cots to white. will have to get a bed for my helper though. 2. A Fridge with Ice Maker & water dispenser - Current one doesnt have this function & there's not enuff iced water for my mahjong kakis. 3. Hood & Hob- Most prob will be getting the same hob i'm using now. Ariston's Vitroceramic. The price dropped from 2 yrs ago by $100. 4. Projector Screen & Speakers -to be decided by hubby which to get. Edited October 20, 2010 by kaijia
kaijia 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2010 Lawrence told me cushions for feature wall (in leather) costs $32psf. Is it reali that expensive?
kaijia 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2010 It's F1 race tonite!! im updating this & watching F1 on TV at the same time. hehe. Lawrence juz came over to do alterations to the design of the carpentry. Reali hope the hse'll turn out nice. As leather cushions r too expensive, Lawrence proposed using PVC instead. He said he'll get back to me to let me know the price. hope it wont be expensive...
kaijia 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) Yea~ Hacking works are all approved , except for the wall in BR3. Lawrence told me the officer wanna c what the material of tat wall is before allowing us to demolish it. the officer will be at the site during the demolition works. hmm... din know it work this way... hubby is out of town, so it's juz me & oni me deciding on the reno works now. hehe. MY CALL!! wahahahahhahaha~!!! saw in the forum some bad feedback abt montella. come to think of it, labon has yet to get back to me regarding my bringing forward of the wallpaper installation to 25 nov from 1 dec. i've notified her abt it 2 weeks ago. she told me she'll check on it & till now, no news. sigh... hope they wont delay my completion date... keeping my fingers crossed. Meeting Lawrence tmr evening to see the altered designs. juz called Paul to confirm my Crystal lamps. Will be getting Thomas to do my electrician works. He gave me a very gd price for my 55 lighting points (some with dimmers & 2 way switches), 2 a/c compressors, 1 2 way heater, SCV points, phone line, etc. $4,000 including my 6 crystal lamps installation. he gave me a reali gd discount as this is my 2nd time using him. was quoted $5,000-5,500 by others (w/o crystal lamps installation!!). kaijia 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) Used this as a counter top in my current home's kitchen. It's reali non-staining & very pretty. im a heavy cook at home & after using this material as a counter-top for 2.5 yrs, it still maintains it's white, shiny look (there are some small holes on the top now, but they rnt obvious). Highly recommended for the looks & benefits. Think this material is still quite uncommon. In fact, a lot of IDs dun know such a material exists! (Copied from my previous t-blog) Product Name: Neoparies Crystallized Glass colour chosen: pure white this is wat i've gotten from the net: Features: Composition: quartz, calcite, zinc oxide, witherite, alumina, alkali Neopariés® Crystallized Glass is a non-staining, non-porous solid surface building material. It is not affected by red wine, salad oils, lemon, or nail polish. It is ideally suited for use as wall surface cladding, countertops and vanities. The uniqueness of this solid surfacing material is that it is available in colors such as White, Light and Dark Beige, which are not found in nature and, offers a solution for many areas such as kitchen and bathroom surfaces where staining is a very definite problem. It is impervious to water absorption unlike natural stone surfaces. It has the strength and hardness of a mid-range granite and the ability to withstand thermal stress. It is similar in graining pattern to Thassos marble, a pure white crystalline marble that is quite beautiful but porous and easily stained. Highlights & Advantages -Can be edged and laminated to conform to most traditional stone profiles requested. -Is virtually impermeable to moisture and other harsh elements. All contaminants are easily removed during regular maintenance. -Is resistant to acids, alkalis, oil, and other environmental pollutants unlike Marble, Granite or other Natural Stone Surfaces. -Bending strength is three times greater than that of common stone. -Can be bent to a radius to form column covers and undulating wall surfaces. Curved panels are available in a wide range of sizes in both convex and concave configurations. -Is not subject to microscopic fissures and fracture patterns commonly resulting from the quarry of stone. -Is available in eight (8) colors in Galaxys' inventory in a thickness of 15mm (5/8").
