Trust the Swedish to come up with creative, out-of-the-box designs. Literally reflecting out from its box-shaped structure, the Mirrorcube is an architectural wonder that first absorbs, then emanates the beauty of its surroundings. Located in the forest of the Lule River valley in Sweden, this exciting hideout is part of Treehotel, a collection of tree cabins that will astound even the most adventurous travellers around the world.

You can probably guess what the accommodation is like from its name. Made of aluminum frame around the tree trunk and covered in reflective glass, the cabin measures 4x4x4 meters and is suspended above the ground.

While the 6 glass surfaces camouflage the Mirrorcube, they also provide sweeping views of the encompassing woodland it in a remarkable way.

To get inside, you’ll have to walk up the 12-meter long bridge that meanders along the tree trunks. Like its external form, the interior of the lodge is simply designed yet interestingly appealing. An ideal nest for 2 people, the cabin includes a double bed, bathroom, lounge, and even a rooftop terrace.

Its interior is built around a single trunk that provides visual contrast to the plywood with birch surfaces within. Besides looking minimally refined, it also reminds visitors of the natural world outside.
Since the cube blends so seamlessly into the greenery and is almost invisible at certain angles, the designers had to think of a way to keep birds from flying into it. What they came up with was as ingenious as their architectural invention: to lay the exterior with an infrared film that’s only noticeable to birds but not to humans.
And if you’re wondering where guests can dine in, an authentic looking 1930-1950’s restaurant, bar, sauna, and relaxation area are just a short walk away.
