It’s as if Jane, interior designer at NID Design Studio, hit the jackpot when she was assigned to work on Mark and Agnes’ 5-room BTO flat. As creatives in the events industry, both homeowners were generally more open to unconventional concepts, and for Jane it meant an opportunity to propose ideas that were wilder than usual.
While the couple works hard, they play hard, too. Agnes and Mark frequently host house parties, and as a cooking enthusiast, the kitchen was Mark’s main priority. His request for a multifunctional counter that can serve as a bar and cooking area was fulfilled by Jane – she personally designed an island that caters to both purposes. This way, guests are also able to gather around and watch Mark work his culinary magic.
From the get go Mark and Agnes were certain they wanted the apartment to look raw and unpolished. They were all for muted shades – so most of the abode ended up sporting grey walls and floors. Although their high expectations posed as a potential challenge for Jane, she was excited for the opportunity to push herself.
However, the overwhelming amount of grey in the abode created a dreary effect. For more uplifting vibes, Jane suggested injecting a dash of colour in the form of a feature wall. Don’t underestimate this bi-coloured wall though – it took several 3D drafts before the placements of each colour felt right.
Agnes’ favourite aspect of the entire apartment? Her spacious walk-in wardrobe. Customised from scratch, the entire structure was built to complement the theme of their home, and Agnes is undoubtedly in love with the way it looks.
