Manila, Philippines, July 20, 2024 — The preview of Asia-Pacific Space Designers Association (APSDA) Awards 2025 and the official launch of Asia Pacific Interior Designers’ Accreditation Program (AP-ID-AP) concluded with great success at the Manila Interior Design Summit (MIDS) 2024 hosted by the Philippines Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) at The Playground, Bench Tower, Manila, Philippines. This milestone event brought together leading interior designers, educators, and industry professionals from across the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting the region's dynamic contributions to global interior design excellence.
The launch ceremony of the APSDA Awards 2025 and AP-ID-AP was meticulously planned to highlight milestones and inspire innovation within the interior design community. The evening commenced with an eloquent speech by IDr. John Paolo Castro, the President of the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID), setting the stage for the significance of the awards and the collaborative efforts of APSDA member economies. Following this, Prof. Keat Ong, the President of APSDA, delivered an address, underscoring the organisation's commitment to advancing excellence in interior design education and practice across the Asia-Pacific region. “While our APSDA Awards aim to promote the excellence in interior design, the AP-ID-AP seeks to elevate the competency of the interior designers,” said Prof Keat Ong.
A key highlight of the evening was the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the official launch of AP-ID-AP, symbolising a significant step towards standardising accreditation processes and enhancing educational standards in interior design. Tanya Suvannapong, the committee of APSDA Awards & Competition then shared her vision and excitement for the upcoming APSDA Awards 2025. The awards will provide a platform for interior designers and interior architects to showcase their best work on a regional stage. This biennial event not only promotes excellence by recognising exceptional talent but also fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing among industry professionals.
This was followed by the ceremonial launch of the APSDA Awards, symbolising the commencement of the award registration process in January 2025. In conjunction with the awards, the official launch of AP-ID-AP marked a significant advancement in interior design education across APSDA member economies. The application is now open to Group A (APSDA Member Economies with a Common Assessment Scheme) and Group B (APSDA Member Economies without a Common Assessment Scheme). This initiative aims to standardise accreditation processes, elevate educational standards, and facilitate professionalism within the region. The ceremony concluded with a vibrant networking session, where attendees had the opportunity to connect and discuss future collaborations, marking a promising beginning for the APSDA Awards 2025 and AP-ID-AP.
The preview of APSDA Awards 2025 and AP-ID-AP official launch at MIDS 2024 demonstrated APSDA’s leadership in shaping the future of interior design. This event not only celebrated achievements but also sparked dialogue and collaboration aimed at pushing the boundaries of design innovation and sustainability.
