Maximising Good Feng Shui In Your Home

There are people who are willing to spend thousands of dollars on Feng Shui. Not all of us can afford that kind of extravagance, but it wouldn’t hurt to practice some basic Feng Shui, right? Who knows, you may be on your way to better health, family ties, and maybe even a windfall!

Living Room Feng Shui

The living room is a place which needs more harmonious energy than the rest of the house, as it is usually the place where families spend the most time together. The living room is believed to be the foundation of each home. Therefore, it is essential to pay extra attention to Feng Shui in the living room.

When it comes to arranging chairs and sofas, avoid having their backs face the door. This is to enhance provide a clear path for positive energy to flow in. You need to like the arrangement and feel comfortable with it so as to encourage interaction and conversations.

A living room with good Feng Shui needs to receive abundant lighting because light is a source of energy. Try to keep your windows and blinds open as much as possible to let the natural sunlight stream in.

Bedroom Feng Shui

The bedroom is our sanctuary. It’s where we recharge ourselves after a long day. It should be peaceful, tranquil, and conducive for the best quality of rest possible.

Because of that, it is not advisable to have a mirror facing your bed, as it is believed to deplete your personal energy. And the bedroom is where you get most of your rest, so it would seem illogical, wouldn’t it?

You don’t necessarily need to get rid of your mirror though. All you need to do is to either angle the mirror away from your bed when you are sleeping, or cover it up with a piece of cloth.

Kitchen Feng Shui

The kitchen is a symbol of health and wealth, and some consider it the Heart of the home. To prevent the creation of negative energy, It is best to keep the kitchen as uncluttered as possible. Clean, bright, and well-ventilated is the way to go!

You may also want place flowers, fruits, or plants in the kitchen where they can be highly visible. Not only do they liven up your place considerably, they will bring positive energy to your kitchen.

Avoid placing your stove next to or opposite your refrigerator, washing machine, sink, and toilet. When fire (the stove) and water (the sink and refrigerator) clash, conflicts among family members may occur. What you can do is to use wood elements to link them up.

Bathroom Feng Shui

Feng Shui in the bathroom is perceived to be the most difficult to handle because positive energy is said to flow out though pipes. Place a mirror outside the bathroom, because a mirror will help to push the positive energy away from the toilet, hence preventing the energy from flowing out into oblivion through your pipe. Most importantly, heed one of the most universal rules of Feng Shui – to keep your bathroom as clutter-free as possible.

If you are a staunch believer of Feng Shui and feel in doubt at any point of time, always consult an established Feng Shui master before making any major interior design or renovation decisions. This will give you a peace of mind, and perhaps even save you more money in the long run.
