You may know that this is the year of the Monkey, but do you know that it is specifically the year of the Fire Monkey? Famous Feng Shui master Jet Lee, founder of Yi Culture explains, “As the Year of the Monkey is a combination of ‘fire’ and ‘metal’ elements, one way to introduce balance to them is by incorporating ‘earth’ elements to neutralise it.”
The Big Reveal
The earth element can be represented in many ways, and when done right, creates a positive flow of Feng Shui in a home. But how exactly should one go about in doing this? Besides the external landform (location of your house, and where it’s facing), overall layout, door position and direction, one can also turn to colours to influence wealth, luck, career, romance and health.
“Earthy shades like dark yellow, brown, and Monarch Gold are perfect for introducing harmony into a space,” Master Lee mentions. Monarch Gold is Akzonobel’s ColourFutures 2016 Colour of The Year, and in addition to being a lucky hue, can greatly enhance the interior design of a residence.
The Feng Shui expert continues, “Social areas such as the living room should be bathed in earthy tones as they promote happiness and warmth, and inject a relaxing vibe into these common spaces.”
