1. The BES is a multi-functional protective wall coating

Certified by the Singapore Green Building Council, Bioclimatic materials are made primarily from reclaimed glass. Using a patented technique, the glass is grounded into fine granules, which are then sintered to form expanded granules. The resulting material doesn’t contain any harmful substances. Because it’s made of expanded glass, the material doesn’t biodegrade like other materials with organic ingredients. This makes it an incredibly versatile material, which – unlike other coatings – does more than just keep your walls flat.
2. It keeps your home cool (25 times more thermal resistant than concrete & bricks)
Concrete and bricks are dense materials prone to storing heat. During the day, they absorb heat and transfer it inwards, warming your house. The expanded glass granules in the BES create a less compact material, which allows air to dissipate as soon as it touches the BES, eliminating any chance of heat transfer in the process. Applied to your interiors, the BES doesn’t just repel heat that’s transferred indoors – it keeps the internal cool air in circulation. The BES is also recommended for the ceilings of top-floor flats as it guards against overheating from the sunlight that's directly overhead.

3. It protects your walls from cracks
Building materials such as concrete and bricks are water-absorbent. This is bad news in Singapore’s tropical climate, which is punctuated by daily rainfall and high relative humidity. By the time construction is completed, the materials would have already accumulated a lot of moisture. If the materials are layered before being allowed to dry, water can become trapped in between due to an air sealant in coatings that prevents the moisture from escaping.
Being a great conductor of heat, the trapped water increases heat transfer in the building, causing cracks and other issues in the long run. The BES is a partially permeable, or 'breathable', but still water-repellent material, allowing moisture to diffuse as vapour while blocking the entry of water. In time, the accumulated moisture fully evaporates, leaving the walls dry and armed with maximum thermal resistance.
