A complete home experience doesn't only relate to how the interior looks and what decorations should be used to make it look good. Your home is your haven, so move around using all your five senses instead.
1. Sight
The first thing we notice about our own homes is its visual. Of course we want it to look good, so we can feel satisfied and proud of the outcome. But besides that, here it also means taking care of ourselves while using our eyes.
Take a breather after a long day, or during the weekend, and sit yourself somewhere with a view. It could be out in your balcony, or even in your room facing a serene view outside the window, and give yourself some time to relax.
2. Smell
Your sense of smell can also be used to calm yourself and relax, in a variety of different ways. Even opening up your window and letting in the fresh air is a start, while buying a few candles and fragrances of your fancy could be another solution.
Even taking the time to cook dishes in the kitchen can be a calming experience, since you're able to enjoy the different smells and fragrances without being pressed for time.
3. Hearing
Our sense of hearing is important, so the sounds surrounding our atmosphere becomes a very important factor when it comes to our mood. Play music while you're at home, but select songs which are soft and calm.
Our hectic schedules in a busy city already creates a large amount of stress, so calming yourself down with a bit of music at the end of the day will definitely help. If any sounds of music irritate you, using appropriate lighting and fabrics can also soften them in the atmosphere.
4. Touch
Touch relates to literally everything at home. Be it when we pad against our wooden floors or slip under our warm bedsheets at night, they're all about our sense of touch and evoke different feelings. Things like running your fingers through your pet's soft fur, or even sinking your toes into a thick rug can help you feel a tad bit more relaxed.
Since everything around the house is about touch, take your time to slowly feel things, and let them heighten your senses.
5. Taste
We're mostly always excited when it comes to eating, sometimes too fast that we don't actually take the time to taste our food. Savoring the things we eat creates a lovely experience, be it a whole meal, or even something as simple as a cup of tea.
Experiencing your sense of taste can be done in many small ways, beginning with simple things like adding a bit of lemon and mint to your water or bigger things like trying an unusual ingredient from time to time.
