Leakage is a pain to deal with, no matter where it happens and what tools you use to try to fix it.
Many a time, we may have looked on in horror as little rivers of water mysteriously materialise on your floors or drip from your pipes.
While the sight itself may not be that terrible (in fact, watching or hearing water drip can be therapeutic), it is no longer so nice when your precious household surfaces and appliances are affected.
Leakage is especially bad if it happens in your kitchen.
It is especially horrible if the leakage happens to your kitchen sink, as the excess moisture and humidity may reach your cabinets and damage them via mould, rotting, or warping.
It is far from cheap to replace your sink and cabinets should they become a victim of leakage; sink leakages cost homeowners an average of S$2,750 due to cabinet replacements.
What Causes Sink Leakage?
Sinks are usually installed via either of these two conventional methods: Undermount or Top Mount installation. These traditional installation methods for kitchen sinks involve silicone, which is used to seal the sink and bind it to the countertop.

Over time, as we regularly use sinks to wash our hands and kitchenware, the silicone is constantly exposed to moisture. As a result, the silicone gets weakened and worn out, allowing liquid to seep out and reach your cabinets. The result? A sagging sink and ruined cabinets.
Some repair and replacement services propose solutions such as:
- Applying extra silicone to the sink rim to cut off the path of leakage and to create a stronger bond between the sink and countertop
- Replacing the wooden cabinets with concrete sink support as concrete is more resistant to moisture compared to wood
- Replacing the wooden cabinets with aluminium ones due to the latter material’s sturdiness and durability
While these methods are effective, they could be expensive and do not offer long-term solutions to solving the cause of leakage. The root of leakage thus continues to stay in your sink.
Here Comes Aurasink
Whether you are looking to do up a new kitchen (or bathroom) or revamp an existing one, sinks are a must-have in that space.
Aurastone recently came up with a sink with its own unique installation system that will prevent leakage from happening - the Aurasink. The technology behind Aurasink guarantees leakage prevention at an affordable cost, ensuring that both your sink and cabinets underneath remain secure and intact for a very long time.
What makes the Aurasink leakage-proof? The answer lies in its installation process.
The Aurasink uses a unique clamping mechanism to bind the sink to the countertop until the connecting silicone completely dries, thus creating a water-tight seal. This mechanism is also equipped with an insulative layer to muffle noises caused by running water and to prevent excess condensation from collecting at the Aurasink’s base.
The result? A leak-proof sink and a fuss-free installation for homeowners.
