Simple yet essential tips to upgrade your 'Crazy Rich' HDB home!

Have you checked my previous article about the 7 Must-Have Features of A ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Home? Well, if you haven’t checked it you can click here to take a look. Now in this article, I'm going to talk about another 7 Must-Have Features List but with a little twist on it, this time around we focus more on HDB. Who says that you can’t be a “Crazy Rich Asians” when you are living in HDB? Here are some facts that you or your neighbors might have that makes them the real ‘Crazy Rich Asians’.

1.         Sports Car

Of course, this is the first thing that makes you realized that your neighbor is crazy rich (It’s literally parked downstairs). Maybe their shiny Porsche / Lamborghini Gallardo is in the parking lot which makes every eye can’t stop looking at it. I can say that even HDB parking area it’s not private, it definitely has its own pros as a place to show the whole world your luxury sports car.

2.         Walk-in Wardrobe

Moving inside the house, a walk-in wardrobe is definitely one of the indicators of your crazy richness. While it takes many spaces, you don’t need it to hack any walls or sacrifice a room for it. Just make sure that your floor plan it’s well thought out and your dream walk-in wardrobe will come true. It’s time for you to store all your designer clothes in a well-deserved closet.

3.         Self-cleaning nozzle toilets with temperature

This is very practical and sophisticated at the same time. While it is quite common in other countries like Japan, Singaporean hasn’t used to self-cleaning nozzle toilet. Well, you can install it in your toilets at home and make your guest in awe on how cool your bathroom is. If you want to upgrade, there is an option for temperature settings so you can set it as you preferred.

4.         Specific Theme Interior Design

Yes, if you want to go bold, you need to choose a particular interior design theme that represents your house and make them unique. For example, minimalist which incorporates black and white colour schemes and utilizes stainless steel or plastics. On the other hand, you can also choose French Country style which uses earth colours like gold, red or yellow and uses natural components like wood or stone. Design that represents you the best and for sure will impress your guest.

5.         Indoor Electric BBQ Grill

I know that HDB doesn’t provide you with the same perks as a private condominium. But it doesn’t stop you to fulfill your BBQ needs and invite your friends to come over. There is a lot of indoor electric BBQ grill brands like Cuisinart, Phillips, or Sanyo so you will never run out of choice. Some of the options have a 5-in-1 countertop unit that can work as a contact grill, panini press, full grill, full griddle, and half grill/half griddle. It comes with a compatible size which makes it very suitable for your kitchen use.

6. Feature Walls

Paint is very common and basic. If your HDB is to be listed in the article of say “HDB Flats of Crazy Rich Asians”, it has got to have something as unique and tactile as mouldings, panels or any wall finishes. Some other wall ideas that can include you in the ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ category is marble feature walls. The cheaper option of this would be a faux marble wallpaper, but that won’t feel and look as authentic and ludicrously lavish as the real deal!

7.         Fancy Ceiling Works

An extravagant wall is what people usually aim to do when wanting to make their home look lavish. Well, that’s maybe because they didn’t know about fancy ceiling works. These babies are the epitome of a lush home. Fancy ceiling works are often added in the living room, as the living room is the first space your guest would see. With one look at your fancy ceiling work, your HDB home will be rank as one of the ‘atas’ HDB homes.

Well, there are still a lot more features for “Crazy Rich Asians” home for HDB residents, but I want to know your opinion! Comment and share your thoughts on some of interesting features in your home in the comments section below! I hope this article will help you on your renovation journey!
