Clothes are like our second skin, so it’s no wonder everyone wants their garments to stay as sharp as possible throughout the day. But that usually means dropping off your clothes into the washing machine, drying it and finding some way to fold and store them neatly. Fortunately, there are some simple steps that you can take to ensure that your used clothes feel fresh again in a pinch.
1. Let your clothes breathe
What do you do with a worn shirt that you need to use again in the evening? To avoid ending up with a stink, turn your fabric inside out and hang it out in the sun and the breeze instead of draping it over your chair. Ultraviolet rays from the sun kill bacteria that your body produces from sweat while the wind allows trapped gases to escape, resulting in an outfit that smells fresher.
2. Use acidic solutions to remove persistent odours
These include everyday household ingredients such as lemon juice and white vinegar to a more exotic choice like vodka. Mix these substances with water in a 1:1 ratio (less water if using vodka) and apply the resulting solutions to the stenches. Again, hang your clothes out in the open air afterwards to make short work of the affected areas.
3. Or just use steam

Transform water vapour into your new laundry workhorse by slotting your clothes into the LG Styler. The device doesn’t actually wash your clothes; instead, it heats up water from a container at the bottom and pumps the resulting steam into the compartment – a process that the electronics maker says removes over 99 percent of germs and bacteria.
4. Give your clothes enough room in storage

Squeezing a bunch of clothes into your overflowing wardrobe can lead to mustiness and wrinkles when you take them out a week later, even if you haven’t worn them before. To prevent your new clothes from going stale, hang a sachet of air freshener in your closet. The LG Styler can also give your clothes a quick shakedown to the tune of 220 times per minute just before you put them on.
5. Iron your clothes without an iron

Suspend your pants on the underside of the LG Styler’s door before clamping a dedicated press on it, and your pants will emerge with a perfect crease down the centre of each leg after the steam bath. The device is also armed with Near Field Communication (NFC), which allows you to import more customised cleaning cycles from your NFC-enabled Android smartphone onto it via a LG Styler app.
The LG Styler is now available at all major electronics stores at a recommended retail price of S$2,999.
