If you're beginning to feel like the outlook of your home seems a little stale, fret not because it's a normal reaction after having stared at the same decorations day in and day out. All you need are simple tweaks around the house, subtle changes which will uplift your interior. Here are some mini makeover tips we've gathered, which definitely won't cost too much of an effort!
1. Painting Bookshelves
If your plain bookshelves are beginning to feel a little dull, why not liven them up with a tiny paint project? Survey the room it's in, and pick a few bright colours which will seemingly complement the space.
Then, purchase paint in the shades you have selected, and think out a cool design using those colours. Next, paint just the sides and back of the bookshelf, giving it a beautiful pop against the room's backdrop. It's a relatively easy project, but gives your plain bookshelf new life.
2. Adding Mirrors
Did you know that placing mirrors opposite windows will double the amount of natural light? Well now you do! And since natural light is pretty much the best kind of light, buying your home a new mirror will do much benefit to the place.
What's more, getting a new mirror gives you an excuse to not only splurge, but also add more life to your apartment. We'd say buy one that's extravagant looking, with intricate detailing carved into its sides; a move bound to make you feel happy with your new home addition.
3. New Bathroom Accessories
Spending money on a bathroom's aesthetics may not seem like the smartest idea, but we assure you it will be worth it. Think of a dominant colour or theme for the space, then purchase bath accessories associating with your choice.
Buy soap bottles, trays, a shower curtain, towels and whatnot, each complementing one another while also staying in line with the theme you've previously selected. Then, replace your current bathroom accessories with the items you've just bought. Since everything inside now matches one another, it gives your bathroom a more cohesive feel.
4. Buy Art
We're not asking you to buy just any kind of art, we're suggesting you buy an art piece which packs a punch. It could be something large in size, like a ceiling to floor mural, or something unique like a series of loud figurines.
Basically, the more outrageous the art seems, the better! And because it looks exaggerated, it easily becomes your room's focal point, instantly changing the mood of the space. This gives your home fresh vibes, so you'll no longer be bored!
5. Rotate Prints
Prints and patterns can be found all over the house, in the form of curtains and cushions, as well as even bedsheets and pillow cases. After staring at the same sets over a period of time, perhaps it's best to switch them up.
Head to the store in search of new prints, maybe even researching online beforehand so you know what's currently in trend. Once you've managed to rotate the various prints around your house, it definitely won't look so dull anymore.
