With the majority of our weeks spent in the office, it’s no wonder we want our offices to feel like home. Google’s new Asia Pacific headquarters – occupying two entire blocks of Mapletree Business City II in Pasir Panjang – comes with floor-to-ceiling windows, an in-house gym, sleeping pods and rooftop meeting spaces surrounded by greenery, which had us drooling with envy. Fortunately, Google isn’t the only place where you can snag bragging rights. We look at more cool commercial spaces in Singapore.
ARIM Technologies

An enabler of high-tech solutions for startups, ARIM Technologies aptly occupies a space that’s as barrier-breaking as what it does. Featuring an airy open-concept area, the office is highly functional, encouraging communication and an exchange of ideas between colleagues. It’s wrapped in warm brick walls and wood surfaces for a homely feel. Their ruggedness is cleverly balanced with plenty of flora, which hugs the edges of the office. Is there a better combination of yin and yang?
Maxspid Enterprise

Amidst the contemporary interior replete with furnishings organised to a T, Maxspid Enterprise’s office has a few tricks up its sleeve. A retailer of emergency lights, the company’s range of products is cheekily displayed along the walkway that guides visitors into the office. It’s a small playful cue that doesn’t distract from the overall theme of the space. Inside, the fun continues with ceilings that are decked out with a variety of lamps that screams casual. It already feels like Friday every day.
Tea Culture Academy

Bursting with traditional Chinese architecture and faux bamboo poles, the showroom of Tea Culture Academy boasts a courtyard-like look. The spaciousness allows the room to escape with a dark wooden palette, which might be too crowded for smaller spaces. Here, however, the dim interior exudes a mysterious atmosphere, seducing visitors to sample the store’s products. Thankfully, the office is a breezier-looking affair, employing a lighter hue without compromising the theme.
