The best thing to have at night to ensure that you will have a good night sleep is no doubt the pillow. The choice of your pillow can determine between waking up feeling recharged or starting the day with a stiff neck. We came up with 2 important questions to help you determine your right pillow.
Which sleeping position do I adopt most of the time?
Back on the bed:
You need something which will help support upper body. A medium or firm pillow will help support the head and neck comfortably.
Side on the bed:
You need a support that will bring comfort to the head and the rest of the upper body. A firm pillow will help to keep the spine aligned and support the head, neck and shoulder.
On your stomach:
You need a support that will not change the position of your upper body. A soft pillow will help to lay the head comfortably without putting pressure on the neck and spine.
Which pillow fill do I like?
All-Natural:
Gives you the feeling that you are resting on a cloud. Down pillows are popular with stomach sleepers as they conform wonderfully to the head and neck and has the most breathability. Down pillows are filled with soft down feathers from birds. These pillows may cause allergies to certain sensitive people and are generally more expensive.
Cotton pillows are probably the most common pillows seen in the the beds and bath section of a departmental store. These pillows are machine washable and are a cheaper alternative to down pillows.
Synthetic:
These are allergy free pillows and provides a medium to firm head and neck support compared to down pillows. .High quality synthetic fibre pillows can last longer if cared for properly and are washable.
Some other synthetic pillows are filled with microbeads and beanbag which gives the feeling of comfort lying down on a bag of sand in a cool beach.
The Memory Foam Pillow:
You will feel like a marine with your full body armor as it gives you guaranteed protection from stiff necks. Invented by NASA, this sponge-like material carefully align every bone in your neck and hold your neck and head in place no matter how you lie on it giving you exceptional support on your neck. This is best for side sleepers and sleepers with neck and spine issues.
